Well, if you go by deviantart...

in that case everything is legit :p

Bleach turn fujoshi heavy as soon we hit the SS arc and we got loads of those pretty boys .
Don't know how much of it you see now but yeah bleach is a perfect eg of a Shonen manga for fujoshi fans.

But were they a force though like those Shonen sports manga (once you hear the manga name you are like "yep, that's expected").

Anything Bleach related was usually Ichigo/Orihime, Ichigo/Rukia shenanigans and maybe Ishida/Orihime tbh, but maybe i wasn't looking.

I say it used to be, now its just mostly old news, by my sources...

hmmm, interesting.

Ichida and IchiGrim (well until kubo decided not to give us grimmjow this arc after that tease :/), but still Ichida is still active.

also interesting.

And i never got the whole name shortening thing tbh

To add to this, some fandoms even use numbers instead of just names.

And let's not even get into the fandoms that name every damn ship they create.

I made a random ship generator for Bleach in anticipation of a similiar messy shipping fest like Naruto. Sadly I found it less amusing than the Korra Shipper because I can't recognize half of these characters. Kubo made too many damn persons. I re-roll and all I can think is "who are those people". I hate you, Kubo :(

Ichigo Kurosaki x Gengoro Onabara
Momo Hinamori x Sentaro Kotsubaki
Ichigo Kurosaki x Aaroniero Arruruerie
Ikkaku Madarame x Miyako Shiba
Marechiyo Omaeda x Renji Abarai

who am I even shipping together

googling it makes it seems like we're just shipping dead people now

Mhm, I am doing a version with no dead people and/or only people I can actually remember some time. Luckily there is plenty of time left seeing how the fights progress atm, my eyes hurt from copying all these fucking character names.

The only active ship I have going is that Erina is obviously best girl in Soma.

Less interested in who Kakashi's hooking up with than how the Ninja World is dealing with the fact that Naruto is blatantly the most powerful person alive to the point he could probably demolish other countries by himself. You would think that might be a serious concern.

That's true but I don't get why they can't just name their ships like almost every other fandom.

Probably because a lot of names can be different due to the various translations/localizations, not to mention the reuse of certain names because of the humongous cast size, and the protagonists being named by the player (even if they have a default/official name, it can still be confusing).

For a moment there I thought people were shipping the pokemon themselves rather than the trainer characters.

Then I realized it probably happens anyways.

I guess I just don't understand having emotional investment in a fictional character pairing that has almost no real context in the narrative. Its not like any of these characters ever had a reciprocal interest in each other. Its all just editorial fiat if they get together or not because "why not?"

It's all design driven breh.

I guess what I'm saying is something like, say, Shouko x Ishida in Koe no Katachi at least has some basis in the narrative to want it to happen.

I read this series and yet I knew nearly no one showing up in the results.

You forgot the trainers with the pokemon.

Character fandom is driven almost entirely by how they look over extraneous fluff like characterization and, you know, that commie shit. If the design piques them it'll peak whatever part of the brain that inspires them to post cherry nosed tumblr art of their ship of choice. Narrative reasons? Narrawhat?

There's also shipping Pokemon with Trainers.

There's a side of the fandom I never ventured into.

You forgot the trainers with the pokemon.

Oh.

Honestly speaking there's a lot of events/outcomes in fiction, not even just manga, that only happen on the merit that those events are interesting in and of themselves, so I don't think it's that strange that whether characters end up together is one of them. It doesn't have to be driven in the plot either, people just like couples.

What's the worst that could happen?!

It's not like super powerful Ninjas before ever really caused problems.

That's one of those shudder moments.

I mean, its not that I don't understand the desire to ship things, I just don't see why anyone would have an emotional investment in one that has no legitimate connection to the underlying story.

Let's say I ship Soma x Erina. If the series never bothers to really discuss it outside of a few blushing scenes and it ends up with Soma and Tadokoro getting married, I don't see why it would be some kind of serious letdown since there's no real impact on anything.

Pokemon x Pokemon should be no big deal.

I mean almost everyone does it anyway when it comes time for breeding.
