Halo |OT 20| It really does feel like Halo

Every minute I played Destiny it felt like I was playing a console adaptation of a freemium game. Except they didn't allow for you to purchase your way through advancement.

But the general concept was the same. Entice the user just enough with a little carrot so they keep coming back to play the shitty game and keep putting time into it hoping for a shinier carrot. Then once you get the shiny carrot you can go into the big nasty garden and hope for a polished carrot that spews glitter from it's leaves.

It's a really shiny skinner box. yaaaaaay

Legendary. Nay, Mythic.
I thought the stream was over and thats how it ended, it had to have been stuck like that for 10+ minutes, I thought 343 was trolling us. Eventually I F5'd and it caught up.

how did you make chrome black like
:)
is Windows 10 cool?
yeah its pretty nice, I never had any issues with using 8.1 on the desktop, having Skype snapped at all times and roaming free in my browser is all I need in life anyways. It has some neat features, I really like the cohesiveness, still needs some work here and there obviously though. I wouldn't recommend running it on something old though, the lack of optimization hurts this old burner laptop sometimes.

Destiny is like "my first MMO" it tries to be more than it really is. People who have played MMOs for a long time find it very weak and people who play shooters find it stale. Big picture wise it's a step in the right direction but short term it's a terrible cross of FPS and MMO that assumes the player will accept minimal content for innovation. I'll say it right now that Destiny will be the biggest disappointment of this generation.

Technically speaking though it does have solid graphics and really no bugs that affect gameplay so that is a plus. It's just that the game isn't fun plain and simple.

Saw a few mentions back on page 5 or so wondering if I had regrets about going PS4 and missing the MCC. The answer is, I wish I could play the MCC - it looks glorious - but would still go the way I did this generation. I played Halo 4. I'm good.

I'm in a similar mindset. There's neat stuff about MCC. Forge for H2A is great, I wish I could be Forging on it right now.

But not 400-500$ of want. H1 multi is Halo PC, which I already have, with mods. Halo 2 still has all of it's sandbox breaking bugs. I played thousands upon thousands of games of Halo 2, I don't want to go back to glitch wars again when multiple Bungie employees have outright said they would have patched them if they had another chance. Halo 3 is now confirmed to be reverted to launch map states, meaning we're going to have a glitch arms race all over again and we'll have to wait for 343 to relearn lessons of six years prior all over again. There'll more people on Halo 4 360 for a good while, if I want to play that.

If I could not have to go through the pain of Halo 2's glitchfest and get the intended Halo 2, amongst other reasons, I'd have run out and bought the MCC. But as it is, I don't have the money and the offerings on this plate aren't enough to encourage me to scrimp the money together.

And even if I did, might as well wait for all the kinks to iron out. There's no point in jumping in on this game right now in it's current state.

I found Halo 4's campaign and gameplay a lot more enjoyable than Destiny's.

Plasma Rifle and Plasma Pistol were both fun. Using the PP felt rewarding because you needed a fast trigger finger and the punch was just a FIST of FURY!

Can't wait. Too bad it'll be the last option to vote for and it still doesn't randomize ties ;\

Oh man that PP was so nice. I love how the overcharge shot homed in on people. It looks almost as if it had a life of its own when it would curve in at the last second. The rapid fire of the gun also made it really surprising. It fires as fast as you can pull the trigger, a feature rarely seen in any shooter not just Halo.

Halo 4 failed to nail the gameplay, though. It was just straight up not fun to play the campaign; it was the only Halo campaign I played once and had zero desire to ever touch again. It was awful straight to the core. Destiny is a joy to play, but the missions are dreary and repetitive. Yet, I play them again anyways because the underlying game is actually fun. Different flaws, but between them I'll take the one that's actually enjoyable to play.

Are you gonna pick up a One so you can join in on the Halo 5 goodness? Whether it be beta or launch.

Personally, I only really play Destiny now to hang with friends. I agree that the core gameplay of Destiny is indeed better, however the game that is built around that solid foundation is a boring, repetitive, mess with no story to speak of. It fails in every aspect of what a campaign should be and doesn't even capitalize on its own ideas. It is also online only which is one of the worst things a game with single player can do. What's even worse than that is it doesn't even do anything to really merit being online only. Halo 4 meanwhile at least made an effort to tell a story and provide a few different experiences. It was by no means great. But it was a hell of a lot better than Destiny's sorry excuse for a campaign.

Fyre, H2A is your intended Halo 2. It's easy and glitchless, with a great Forge mode.

Destiny must be really bad if people are using Halo 4 to argue against it. I've only seen Destiny on Twitch streams, so I don't know how it plays, but the loot is terrible. I just play Path of Exile for loot and character building, that shit's free and respects my intelligence as a player.

I prefer Halo 4 gameplay by far. Sure, it's the worst Halo overall (I actually think the core gameplay was better than Reach at least, not having that awful reticle bloom and all) but it's still better than Destiny.

In Halo 4 I can at least jump and still be accurate, or do no-scopes with the sniper rifle. Seriously, that forced ADS bullshit is the worst. I still don't understand why Bungie decided to sabotage their own game with that shit, especially considering all the cool movement options they introduced. SMH.

Basically, run and gun shooters >>>>>>> run or gun shooters.

Fyre, H2A is your intended Halo 2. It's easy and glitchless, with a great Forge mode.

Maybe if it had more than six maps, or the maps chosen weren't remakes we haven't had since Halo 2 (and the one that hasn't is easily made in Forge).

They could have gone in and sealed up the original maps. Or targeted the most exploited maps to be remade. I just have no idea why Microsoft decided that making map glitches a marketing bulletpoint ever make sense. "Hey, remember all of you that didn't actually play Halo 2, but used it to be a jerk to other people and watched TV while you just sat on top of Headlong with a bomb for two hours? For some reason, we want you to come back!"

Like, the button glitches irritate me, but at least you have to play on the damn map to use them.

Yeah, that's one thing I'm curious about. Just how did they decide there were more people in favor of the glitches than those against. I'd have been fine with most glitches removed, as it's the base gameplay and Halo 2 maps I'm more excited to get back to.

god damn, I worked like 20+ hours the last two days just because people are irresponsible, missed the stream today but thankfully I'm off tomorrow so I'll get to see it then. Then after that it's the big day. Some lucky kid in my town is going home with a free copy of the game. Hope it all comes together.

Oh, and the OT too I guess.

Playing Destiny is like going to your rich friends house.

You have really high expectations thinking you guys are gonna be able to do all sorts of cool stuff. Then you find out that his parents are really boring and don't really let him do anything. You shrug it off though because it's a solid house, it's got a lot of room, and hey you're here with your friend anyway so whatevs. It's really cool to explore too. But again there's nothing to really do in it after you explore. Sure you can dick around on some of the furniture and make up your own games but at the end of the day you just ask your friend if they want to come over to your place next time because you have toys. And ice cream. And a really big hornets nest.

Another way to put it is it's really solid foundation with a nice house built on it but the house is completely empty.

I broke down and just pre loaded MCC even though I have the physical on order at Best Buy. They have a neat pre order, some kind of guide to all the maps. Its to bad Im getting a fuckin tooth pulled that morning but at least will come home to MCC.

Halo 4 was much more enjoyable than destiny to me.

Spartan ops are better than destiny.

Destiny is by far my biggest disappointment of the year, even more so after seeing their xbone dlc plans.

It's a silly endeavor when you can't keep all the glitches anyway. So not even all the glitches are around, if you're making it an actual bullet point.

Like, Halo 2 is post-balance patch, so it's not as it's shipped, it just still has bugs left over that MS didn't let Bungie fixed and that Hired Gun still missed. Halo 3 is in a weird state where it's post-TU (changes to melee simukills) but on launch map variants. A head scratcher.

Now, if I could ACTUALLY choose which version of Halo 2 I wanted to play - 1.0 balance, 1.5 post patch Xbox, or a theoretical 1.6 "Fixed" version, like you can literally play the history of the game, that would be damn cool. But if you can only have one..

Looking forward to seeing your OT in all it's glory.

Sigh.. Halo CE is the best... Probably never get a game like it again...

Spartan Ops on a good host was amazing. Otherwise, I'd rather bang my head against the wall. Even though it's not coming out on release, I'm really looking forward to playing Spartan Ops on dedis. So good.

They aren't streaming OpTic vs StK, not even trolling.

wtf I thought my connection was messed.

EDIT: Nah, just checked their twitter. St8 Rippin and StK was the final match of the night. Starts again tomorrow at 10AM PT. Not sure why the stream is still live though.

We'll never get a game like Halo CE again, because there isn't a game designer in the business that thinks it is good.

It's random and broken, yet somehow fun, that might as well be the official statement at this point.
