Yeah, at that point I think I'd have refused the NDA and bought the midnight release and have a reviewer pull an all-nighter. Put a disclaimer "Due to not receiving an early copy, this is a quick review with a full review to come later tomorrow". Any day 1 embargoes pretty much means you know it's going to be bad, may as well be ahead of the curve.

Defending what? I've mentioned a few times that the level of sheer jank on display here has put me off preordering the game and that I'm waiting to see what the consensus is.

All I'm defending is my right to not thinking that a bad framerate is the Great Satan of modern gaming. When you frame the debate in moral terms you're essentially saying that people who disagree with you are bad people. I think I have every right to defend myself against that claim.

In my eyes there needs to be a law put in place or something that allows any reviewer to review a game as soon as they get their hands on them. Review embargoes are disgusting practices in this industry. Shouldn't be held at gunpoint for this.

In theory, review embargoes make sense. It means reviewers don't have to rsh through the game to be first to publish their review. In practice, publishers like Ubi are obviously abusing them. The answer is to not preorder games from pubs that do this, even if there's a good deal being offered. We need to send a message to these people.

It's optional (it's not a DRM) and it gives you some bonuses (outfits, wallpapers) after you logged in. It's here since AC2 or ACB IIRC.

I feel a lot if this could have been avoided if they just cut back the NPC's on the console versions. Giant crowds sound cool but not if they ruin the gameplay, and they look absolutely terrible and immersion breaking with all those pop ins anyway
