How many of you are keeping them in their packaging? I almost don't want to use them because I don't think I would actually ever use them after linking them up the first time.

I really love the box art on them.

What are you guys generally doing?

I use my Samus in every basic Smash match I play. They are awesome at lv50

Is that a Smashing Pumpkins box set in the background?

To us mortals it's a boxset. To Kirby it's just another hat.

I'm keeping the packaging as intact as I can, based on my McFarlane toys experience.

Wave 3 looks so good. I've already resigned to have all of the Smash Amiibo, but definitely not all at once. Gonna have to get at least half of those wave 3 Amiibo when they launch though! Megaman, Rosalina & Luma, Toon Link, Bowser, Ike.

Got a set on order for next week when they release in Australia.

So which are the figures I have to play the 'quality lottery' with? I'll heavily scrutinise any known problem Amiibos and go through store stock until I find a decent one.

From my experience so far: Marth, Link, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Fox, Peach

So yesterday, I posted about how Amazon screwed up the packaging for my Amiibos (these were the 3 worst):

Today, I went out on a mission to find replacements and I was kind of afraid because people were saying they were having a hard time finding Marth. Luckily, my local Target was stocked up on everything so I was able to be very selective!

I cancelled my wave 2 and 3 preorders with Amazon (I am so beyond pissed off with them right now) and I think from now on I'm just going to go to brick and mortar stores to find them as they're released.

Yeah, I figure if we buy all the Mega Man amiibo, that sends a message to Nintendo to buy the rights from Capcom or at least borrow the license to make a Mega Man game (Tokyo EAD!)

Sorry if this is getting annoying, last pic I promise (for today ^_^). Funny thing is, I haven't even booted up Smash Wii U yet, just admiring Kirby lol.

Your Kirby is the cutest man.
I wish Toon Link was in wave 1, I can't wait for him. ):
I'm being tempted for a Kirby of my own once they hit EU.

So I was thinking of possible future uses of Amiibo and the thought reminded me of what Kingdom Hearts does with all the Disney worlds. Could you guys imagine a game like Mario Galaxy 3 (Universe) with Amiibo support that gave you new worlds of the series your Amiibo came from?

Just went grocery shopping for a hangout tonight. I successfully resisted the temptation to buy more amiibo. So proud of myself!

Now that's cool

What about a game that's free to download (eShop exclusive) and your game depends on the amiibos. Similar to a NintendoLand type mini-game set up and games unlock for particular amiibos. Games would probably be a little more juicy than NintendoLand offerings, though.

Scan the Samus amiibo in Super Mario Galaxy 3 to hunt for Power Stars in the Metroid Galaxy? And maybe give Mario a new powerup, the Varia Suit? Sounds good to me!

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
What about free NES titles. Like Mario gives you Super Mario Bros 1 and Samus gives you Metroid. NES ROMs are cheap anyways!

Where can i buy Marth?

He's still available (online only it seems) on Toys R Us website. Plus it's part of the 3 for $30 deal they're having now. I bought him with Wii Fit Trainer and Villager since I'm reading that those are the three hardest ones to find right now...

And I already bought Mario, Link, and Fox yesterday. I need to stop.

This is really what Nintendo should have used Amiibos for, primarily. A compelling way for VC games to be physically distributed and collected. That'd have a lot more evident value and appeal to the consumer than their current "virtual pet" functionality.

Personally, I wanted Villager before it was cool! I wanted Marth, too, but the quality is... well, we'll see. Another week.

And with how many are intentionally getting Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and Marth, I swear secret rarest Amiibo will turn out to be Fox and Yoshi or someone :p

On the contrary, I love these pics, they're hilarious. Please keep 'em coming!

Not just virtual console games, but eShop/digital only games in general! Digital only isn't where I want to see the industry going, but if Shovel Knight or Costume Quest and games like that came on something physical like an Amiibo, it'd be a whole lot easier for someone like me to accept.

If nothing else have them knock off 20% off the price of their respective VC games as a value add.

I told my daughters (9 and 11) if they saved up for Smash, I'd buy them each an Amiibo. They chose Villager and Link, respectively. From the videos they thought each Amiibo would be able to play as each character, not have them auto-play, but they are enjoying them nonetheless.
And they immediately noticed the Hyrule Golden Shower ^.^

NFC figures have really pithy storage, so that wouldn't really work unless it was just an unlock key that just pointed you to the full download anyway.

Besides, the margins wouldn't work out like they would for VC games. Selling $12 figures with $5 VC games is a decent profit, nevermind that rom dumps of games that already made their money back ages ago aren't really a sunk cost of $5. Selling $12 figures of $15 games that are on their first go-round in the marketplace is selling them short right off the bat; Take out the production costs of the figures and the actual game maker would be making maybe $3-4 for their game, tops. And good luck getting big box retailers to order lines of figures based on IPs they've largely never encountered or heard of.

After telling myself that I wouldn't give in, I now own 9 Amiibo and I can't bring myself to open up the packages because I want to keep them in mint condition. What the hell is wrong with me? LOL

1. Donkey Kong
2. Fox
3. Kirby
4. Link
5. Mario
6. Peach
7. Pikachu
8. Samus
9. Yoshi

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
OMG I want a Kirby amiibo. Probably wouldn't even use it, but he's my main in Smash and he's just so cute!
