@kubus Thanks again, I've bought both the screen protector and the case from Nippon-Yasan now.
no problem and I'm sure you'll love the case! Good luck with applying the screen protector, maybe you already know but I was told that applying it in a bathroom with moist air gives you the best chance of preventing dust from getting under the screen filters. I wish I knew this before I applied mine, haha.

Does anyone know if a New 3DS XL will fit in an OG 3DS XL case?

I was on the verge of buying a Hori one before, but decided against it as the New XL is ever so slightly bigger by a few mm.

Mine fits snugly into my three different old XL cases. So I would say yes, unless yours are super small.

Does anyone know where I can get a TPU clear plastic case for the NEW 3DS XL?

One like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0093W7KG8/?tag=neogaf0e-20
There's one by Hori, sold by Nippon-Yasan here (lol I'm starting to sound like a shill for them, sorry)

Here's a (Japanese) hands-on video of the case. Skip to the 5:00 minute mark for the 3DS XL part as he showcases it on the normal New 3DS first. Normally I'm not a big fan of these kind of cases but it looks pretty sweet on the XL.

edit: Whoops, those are not TPU but PC. Here's the link for the TPU version of the case. It's a bit pricey though :(. Play-Asia also has this one listed for pre-order for $11.

Woah nelly, that's $50.

I might shop around a bit.

EDIT: Okay grabbed the PlayAsia one. Long shipping time considering it ships Dec 12 but oh well it was only $20 all up.

If it is just the UK, at least there is some kind of reasoning to that - considering the amount of UK 3DS consoles that must be knocking about in Australia. But it would fucking suck for everyone in Ireland and mainland europe.

Ok, update on this. I don't know what's changed but it appears to be ok now! Maybe it was just a blip or maybe they had yet to flick a switch to allow it. Anyway, system transfer being performed now with both systems set to Ireland.

This system has reinvigorated my love of 3DS, even though I was still playing my XL daily before for Curtain Call. Makes me want to replay or finish old games. I've barely progressed in Alpha Sapphire thanks to wanting to play Smash with c-stick or Luigi's Mansion with reduced ghosting.

Ironically the one game I've been playing less is Curtain Call, because the smaller screen leads to reduced visibility I haven't adjusted to yet.

OzBargain is reporting that Big W is selling the woodgrain cover plates for $17 that the rest of the range sells for instead of the RRP of $39.95.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171087

They had no cover plates at all in stock at my local Big W.

Panic over! Good to hear!

I'm probably very late realizing this but I just found out they don't including a power adapator with it anymore? That's pathetic. So if someone wanted it new they'd be instantly forced to pay another $18 just to run the thing.

damn, living a distance away from the southampton DHL facility sucks ass. I have to wait until Monday for my N3DS XL!! Ah well, whatever - most people have to wait until next year. lol

Also, just for a laugh, I was originally going to post the thread with these banners and then swap them for the real ones - but thought better of it:

LOL. Btw, no-one drinks Fosters here.

Add insult to injury Nintendo's charger is proprietary.

Do not fret about the eShop issue. I tried France, Germany and the Netherlands resulting in error 005-5602, but after I changed it to UK (Scotland) - which got me in, but in £ - and then back to my home region, it worked. This is most likely a software bug where new 3DSes fail to initialize euro eShop access.

So is there a significant improvement in the quality of the screens between old and new 3DSes? I don't mean the improved 3D (despite that the head tracking sounds fantastic), but are the colours more vibrant/blacks deeper/etc.?

Honestly, this would be the biggest incentive for me to upgrade over anything else!

I'm pretty aware that no one drinks Fosters in Australia (it is the second thing everyone tells you after saying their are Australian), but, I've always wondered, people don't drink it because it is not widely available or because they don't like it, and if they don't like it, and no one drinks it, it is probably not widely available as well, right? Serious OFF topic question.

What is the real status of Fosters beer in Australia? (I like Fosters, btw. Sue me).

Also, on topic now, is there any known problem with the new 3DS units? Should I buy one now or wait until it gets release in Europe?

Welcome to 2012 (for Europe and Japan at least).

It sucks, but its nothing new.

Play-Asia is out of stock of the felt faceplate.

They're the only place I know to buy Japanese stuff lol.

Help me.

Idk, it's kind of non-existent. Can't remember the last time I even saw it.

No, it's the same cheap - eh, low-cost Nintendo display. However most have said the saturation is better on the XL model in particular. Here's a comparison between old & new.

Seriously, people here should stop forgetting about Nippon-Yasan. They're way cheaper than Play-Asia with pretty much everything! And they know some tricks on how to avoid import fees... :p

Here you go

edit: By the way, now that everyone is shopping face plates... Did you know that the newly released Boo faceplate is glow in the dark?

This is why Regular New 3DS > New 3DS XL :p

I fell like I should buy a n3DS instead of the XL just because I've already purchased that Theme and now I fell like I should buy the faceplate to use it together.

The screen is definitely of higher quality on the new XL. The picture retains colours and brightness when viewed from any angle, as opposed to the old XL which turns into an overexposed mess when viewed from the side. I guess they did this because without it, the super stable 3D would be pointless.

It also just seems to have a slightly higher dynamic range, but it's not THAT noticeable.

Thanks, I love you.

12 bucks for express (3-4 days, we'll see about that), so $44 all up. I can live with that. Now let's see how long it takes for the felt to get all dirty and gross lol.

I'll confirm/pay the order tomorrow after I go impulse buy the system.

Not sure if my new 3DS is meant to be clicking really loudly after its 2nd day. It's clicking at the optimal viewing angle (2nd click)

Got my gf's 3DS today and it's not making the clicks.

Here's a vid of what I'm dealing with:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K6gavnAc8s

Should I take it back to where I got it from and exchange it?

Also, is the 7 day transfer lockout on both 3DSs' or on the receiving one only (in this case, new 3DS)?

Will try my luck in getting a cheap wooden coverplate when out and about tomorrow.

My 3DS LL clicks too. I thought this was supposed to be normal since it's a satisfying locked in position -sound.

Mine also has a loud click (XL). I don't like it, but I'm not sure if it's meant to be like that (I assumed it was).

I should get this too.

You can order stuff like that direct from Amazon Japan if you use a forwarding service like Tenso, even better if the price drops before shipping they even refund you the savings. Thanks to them my N3DS ended up costing £92 and i got hit with zero customs fees as Tenso let you edit the customs value. I have managed to get all my games and face plates for retail prices or less. A handy option for the stuff that doesn't get released outside of Japan.

I have the same issue but it doesn't seem to be a big deal really.

People should probably avoid shopping with Nippon-Yasan as they have been known to sell bootlegs and try to pass them off as official products. There was a documented case of this happening to a Figure GAF poster earlier this year.

Not saying that any coverplates or whatnot available there are going to be counterfeit, just a friendly warning that you should probably spend your hard earned money with a more reputable seller.

I got a couple of local sources in Japan which negates the need for a forwarding service.

You just got me scared here....
I thought the New 3DS was similar to pal 3DS which All countries listed ?

I'm from Belgium, so does this means that after setting my upcoming NN3DS to Belgium as country and making the data transfer between my old 3DS and my NN3DS that I will not have access to the European esShop ?
