Been lurking in this thread....
Street Cleaner...
Dance with the Dead &
Jordan F are some of the most amazing finds I think I've had come out this thread. Keep it up guys!

How can DWTD make so much awesome music in just a year? I'm so used to artists taking a year or two between albums and these guys have released four fantastic albums in a single year.

It's more about not having to deal with anything else besides just making music. They're not touring the world, etc etc. Just having a passion for creating the music. At least that's my guess?

yup, and putting music on actual physical media like vinyl takes about 6 months from completion. That's a really long time to hold on to a completed album. Dance with the Dead among others can just put it online the day they feel finished :D

but there is the danger of pumping out music too fast and not doing enough editing. Even Dance with the Dead has shown signs of most tracks being variations of the same song.

I might be an idiot but one artist I love that I couldn't find in this thread using the search function is this dude who goes by the name Chaconne.

He doesn't have a lot of songs but the ones that he does have are great.

https://soundcloud.com/chaconne/beach-scene

https://soundcloud.com/chaconne/dreamers-free-download-for

https://soundcloud.com/chaconne/romance-and-revolution-testing

Perfect 80's dance club synth.

And just yesterday I discovered this gem, DUETT.

Mega Drive - Activate Your Steel (this is some good shit, trust me)

Mega drive is always great.

i'm assuming they do this as a full time job, and do this to so eat/ live OR they made these songs sometime ago and are just spacing out the releases.Either way they are great, and i hope they keep up the great work.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: BANDCAMP & NEW JAN 1st E.U. TAX*

As some are already aware, there is a new tax law effective from Jan 1st 2015 which classifies ANY online sale as requiring the seller to be VAT registered.

This means if I were to sell as little as one song through Bandcamp for 1p, I would be considered the same as someone with a fully fledged business earning over the £81k tax threshold, and required to complete quarterly reports to the government, store sales info, IP addresses and personal data securely and a whole host of other things I do not fully understand. Failing to do so could result in a heavy penalty for tax avoidance. I don't earn anywhere near enough to make any of this worth my time.

So I regret to inform that I will be removing download links from Bandcamp, which means my music will also disappear from the Bandcamp app. I understand this may annoy people who have purchased my music, and apologise for the inconvenience.

I hate to be forced into this position by greedy political schemes, but I can't change the government's decisions.

My music will still be streaming from Bandcamp, but I will be selling via channels such as iTunes, Google Play, Amazon etc from now on. The irony that these stores are the tax-avoiding scumbags that caused this law to be passed in the first place is not lost on me.

Thanks and sorry.

it also looks likes VHS Glitch will/ might be taking down their music as well.

The soundtrack for The Guest is so damn good. I heard the hype months ago but didn't want to listen until I get to see the movie and honestly... I didn't think it would be this good.

I read about this. I wish there was a thread about this (unless I missed it). Now I never want to move to Europe.

*IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: BANDCAMP & NEW JAN 1st E.U. TAX*

many others are pulling their stuff off of Bandcamp next week too including Perturbator and others :/

buy off your Wantlists today if you want to buy them at PayWhatYouWant -price instead of forced, greedy megacorporations they will be forced to use next year like iTunes&Amazon.

Stupid law really, just forces all small independent sellers to close down and reinforces big corporations foothold.

Oh wow. That really sucks about the bandcamp / tax stuff. And not just because of the pay what you want feature, but bandcamp is a nice and convenient site for DRM-free 320 kbps music. Love being able to browse my collection of bought music and to redownload stuff whenever I need.

Good news, everyone!

EU digital VAT changes and Bandcamp

If you’ve seen the recent news of changes to EU tax law, you may be wondering how this affects you as an artist or label selling on Bandcamp. The good news is that for digital sales, there is no need for you to register for VAT, submit quarterly reports, and so on. We will take care of all of that for you.

If you happened to see our earlier help item about this, we planned to roll out a temporary solution where artists submitted the tax themselves. We’ve decided to accelerate the changes to our system such that the interim step is unnecessary.

Hey guys

I just stumbled upon this thread and love what I've heard of the spotify playlist so far. Any recommendations? I really liked the "Escape from New York" and "Hotline Miami" soundtrack so anything along those lines would be ideal
