I doubt you can render judgement then seeing as how you don't own it. The game (now) is functional, just not where we want it to be.
Talk about taking advantage of a company's good will. Refunds aren't given for games "you didn't like", they're for physically damaged products. In the case of software, exchanges are given for opened non-functional products.
Amazon isn't a rental service. Research a game before you buy and open it.
Do this too many times and they'll start implementing restocking fees which will hurt everyone. They'll also flag your account for abuse.
Recalls normally just mean send it in if you want/are having bad issues, doesn't it? It doesn't mean you have to give it back.
I could have sworn recalls happen on things that are dangerous or life threatening. I never heard of something being recalled simply because the end product is poor and non -threatening.
Only way 343 can pay us back is free tickets to E3 2015 with early access copies of Halo 5.
How hopeful is everyone feeling in terms of 343 fixing the online? I'm thinking I should just trade it in while the value is decent. Such a bummer BTW.

Instantaneous seems like a lot to ask for, so yeah, I don't think that'll ever happen ;pHonestly. 100% fixed... like instantaneous matches and stuff, I dont think it will ever happen (or at least not anytime soon). I'm even dubious if they're gonna fix the campaing issues.
I don't understand why people are so forgiving and defensive of receiving faulty games.

Some consumers have become used to the "games shipping broken" trend. It's just how it is, so they accept it. They believe that the game will eventually be fixed, and that's all they want. They understand that today's video games are much more complex than anything we've seen, and unforeseen things happen. They don't want delays.
I've been burned enough that I don't consider the reward of playing a game on launch day worth the risk of buying a product that might not work as promised for weeks or even months after release. Being patient and waiting a few weeks or months generally gets me a more functional game while also saving me some cash.
That's what's so crazy about this. The basic framework for these games was already there. They worked. All of the hard work was already done.I honestly don't trust 343 now. I have no idea if they have the talent for a exclusive studio.
Yeah, its hard not to agree with this. My new years resolution is to wait at least two weeks before buying any game. By then you'll know whether or not its broken.
One of my biggest issues regarding the MCC are the reviews. Half the game is broken, yet the game still has great scores in the upper 80s. I've heard people in the industry talking about how the SP portion still gives you bang for your buck, so they justify the high scores. A game where half of it is broken, one where that half is one of the most anticipated and heavily advertised aspects, deserves nothing more than to be completely hammered in reviews. That's one of my problems with games journalism and their reviews, that they won't take the necessary steps to deduct points for broken games. If headphones came out where you only got sound half of the time, those headphones would be slammed and proclaimed as broken, and people would be told to avoid them. I want to see the same response from reviewers in the game industry.
I have a friend who was a huge Halo fan. He isn't a massive gamer or anything, he just really loved Halo. Not hardcore like GAF or anything. He picked up an Xbox one and Halo MCC the day it came out. I talked to him recently and he was so pissed. He was saying things like everyone who made the game should be fired and stuff.
It was interesting seeing the reaction of a "casual" buyer.
Err...no
Sending it in to "get a fix" honestly sounds like a pointless thing. Send it in for what? For them to manually apply patches you'd get on your xbox anyway? Why not? You aren't forced to return it. It's only for people that want a refund, or want a fix. Selling customers a game that is broken really isn't acceptable.
So what is the solution? You are okay with this?

The solution at this point is to unfortunately wait for patches.
I honestly still think Halo 5 should be delayed because of this. It won't happen but it should. I also think people should lose their jobs over this but that won't happen either. The level of incompetence that was required for this mess to happen is astounding
I doubt mass refunds will happen because that would be too difficult to verify for physical buyers. I still think the compensation we will get is more H2A mapsTBH I don't think you could send it in to get fixed. I was just kind of going off what OP said. But I do think MS should offer mass refunds (like make it an actual thing vs. just people having to do it on their own), or do something at this point. The product is clearly broken, and it impacts a lot of people.
So some kind of recall, or something, anything.

They have effectively killed any enthusiasm I had for future iterations. That's hard to do, considering Halo 1 and 2 are my top two favorite games of all time. There is NO WAY I will purchase another Halo game, ever again.I honestly don't trust 343 now. I have no idea if they have the talent for a exclusive studio.
A recall implies that sending it back to the manufacturer will actually fix the problem; which is not the case with MCC.
Patching will have to do for those with internet connections.
Still sold well, at #10 in NPD? All that matters to MS in the holidays. Sure MS cares about brand image BUT, it cares more about a Halo product shipping this holidays to go with the price drop narrative.

I don't think 343i is that incompetent as it's made to be....the product was simply rushed and wasn't nowhere near polished like the single entries in the Halo series before it. Without Halo MCC you're only looking at Sunset Overdrive.... and that won't create nearly the same buzz, nor move consoles.
Gaf should kick start a "gamers against broken game releases" crowd fund that to pay the lawyers and start suing the companies (ms sony ubisoft etc etc ). I get games can be broken . I would have no problems with it except that the whole refund process is a pain .
