Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer: English Voices

Why are you guys assuming that it's not from the demo?

Duscae has a southern seaside town if we go by the world map. The gang are going to the coast in the demo from what we heard Prompto say.

You can already see in the TGS trailer that it goes off-road.

But please, no car-pimp mechanic, that would be a bit too much.

After rewatching the trailer, that still looked like a pre-set road, it had less grass and you could see where it starts and where it ends.

Was it just me or did they mention that they'll have a Nurse Joy sort of NPC once? I could have beem dreaming since it sounds absurd.

I think this woman is just a mechanic that will appear at various gas stations or car repair/upgrade shops. Like a Chocolina.

If this new stuff is also part of the demo and the demo is less than 10% of the final game......how gigantic is this game gonna be?

Apparently SE has a thing for presenting characters without even explaining who they are (Black-Haired girl, whoever the hell Luna is and now sexy googles girl lol)

Of course there will be some physical obstacles that prevent you from driving anywhere & everywhere, but I don't understand how you can NOT see that off-road is clearly allowed in the game. There are several points in the trailer where they aren't on any kind of road or even any kind of set path.

No, only once. And that has a gravelly, paved out road.

I highly doubt that we can summon the car on grass.

After rewatching all of the car driving footage I'm pretty convinced that the car is only drivable on pre-set roads, the only off-road shot I found is at the end of the TGS trailer when Noctis says that "not much longer" line, and I'd be surprised if that was part of the game.

This doesn't make any sense.

Also, do we have any idea who are the voice actors behind the english trailer?

but damn previous final fantasy voice acting : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLBGbUGryRE <---some god tier level shit they need to go back to that

I'll say. It was so spot on, not just for Final Fantasy but for a game in general. Both the VA and the actual localization.

The gameplay looks so janky. Why can't they just go back to classy FFX-style turn-based?

I dunno man, FFX combat is in all honesty boring as shit past one game of it (Granted I played it to death so that's half of why probably). But a game that revisits pure turn based and throws in twists sorta how Bravely Default has its own adaptations and extensions of NES Final Fantasy would be pretty sweet.

I'm hoping for a dual audio option for this release. Be nice to give people more control over their preferred method of listening/playing.

I distinctly remember the car driving over grass fields in the TGS trailer.

I think they mentioned that you could drive the car off the road in one of the interviews, no?

I just feel feel this KH style gameplay makes a mockery of the more realistic character models here

Offroad instance #1 (that's not a road or path of any kind if you watch the whole segment in the trailer)

Offroad instance #2 (driving on a cliff, even if you argue that is some kind of path, you'd very likely have to drive offroad to get to a place like that)

Offroad Instance #3 (stopping by a pond that is clearly nowhere near a road or a set path based on what we see in other gameplay clips)

Offroad Instance #4 (not a road or path of any kind, clearly driving through a grassy, slightly more barren desert-y offroad area, though the terrain does seem to set certain limitations to that particular zone)

Offroad Instance #5 (they are in the middle of somehat long grass area, probably not a road or any preset paths to get there)

What about here:

ffxvtrailerroadtrip_610.jpg

I'd be very surprised if this was a part of the game, I think it was only a message like the one in the E3 2013 trailer, anyway this is a cutscene and not gameplay footage, so it still doesn't count when the only other off-road footage we have has a clear pre-set path.

The obvious "this isn't KH lol" aside, I actually feel the complete opposite. The more realistic the visuals, the harder it is for suspension of disbelief to justify turn based combat. Not to say it can't work, but we're talking on relative terms here.

There's doesn't really seem to be anything janky about the gameplay. If anything, this seems to be the closest Square Enix has gotten to DMC like lightning-fast character action games (not that I expect quite as much depth/challenge from FFXV, they do want to still keep FFXV as a mainstream game like all past FFs)

Well this is one of the silliest things I've read of the combat system so far. Does Devil May Cry's action-y combat make mockery of those games' realistic character models?

I doubt the demo would let you explore a city considering the length they are said they are going for with the demo.

Just found a full version of the scan, oh boy if that woman is really Cid, although it's not specified (also they don't even seem to be talking about airships, unless they have a kanji for it that i couldn't translate), we're in for some debate.

Why? I don't think that Square has ever specified that Cid has to be male. He obviously always has been, but that's not a requirement as far as I know. Nothing is really a requirement although he often has some mechanic background.

It could be from the larger Duscae region and not the small portion of Duscae region that the demo will have, but it also could be somewhere completely else.

Yeah, you may be right, and I hope you're cause that would make a small portion of the game even more interesting.

The only thing that could fuck up Final Fantasy more than the hallway simulator that was FFXIII is turning the franchise into a character action game.

Eh? If anything, it's more like KH than before. It still looks like a more weighty, realistic Kingdom Hearts and even more so now that they party members are just AI controlled.
After playing kh2 fm these past few days to me the FFXV footage looks quite different. Also those reasons you posted are enough for me to say it's is own thing. I highly doubt FFXV party member system will be as lacking as KH.

Sure, there are some key differences and I'm not saying it's a carbon copy of KH's combat, but I think their "common ancestry" still shows. It's more evident in moments like in the tech demo where Noctis is zero-shifting in and out of the Behemoths reach and performing some aerial combos. It won't play exactly like any KH, but I would still describe it as a slightly more realistic (in some ways, less in others) and weighty Kingdom Hearts, from what we've seen. You could basically take someone like Terra from Birth By Sleep, give him some of Noctis' moves and it wouldn't seem too out of place for KH action.

I think several playable characters switchable with a press of a button was one of the biggest things separating FFXV from KH and now that it's gone FFXV is a bit closer to KHs.

Lost Odyssey got raked over hot coals 7 years ago by the critics for having "archaic turn based gameplay".

Regardless of how FF15 plays, i don't think SE wants to go back to classic FF 'stand around while you input commands and watch it play out' these days.

Just saw the scan. Man, I just love how unique the mix of settings is in this game. You would NEVER see this in any other RPG series besides FF, especially not from western studios which seem to be stuck in Tolkien fantasy for decades now. This is why I'm still a huge FF fan. It has its flaws (bad writing, melo-drama like in the XIII saga, etc.) and it's clear that I'm not the main target group anymore, but I just appreciate so much how they are always changing and reinventing the series while still retaining the core.

Anybody who defines FF by its battle system clearly hasn't understood the essence of the series. Those are just technicalities. Square would have already implemented faster, action-based systems if the consoles had more power back then. They intended FFIX to have the fastest battles in the series originally, but the PS1 couldn't handle their vision. LR was only one little step away from being full action.
If the creators themselves never have been opposed to the thought of having action-based battle systems, who are you to tell them what their series is defined by?

Sakaguchi himself said that the essence of Final Fantasy is constant change and walking along paths that no one has been on before (see the great Famitsu interview with Kitase a fews days ago!).
