"2015 is a HUGE year for Rare", says Robin Beanland

I really hope so.

Mainly because I want to believe that Rare is a good studio still, but since they've stopped collaborating with Nintendo, I've only seen that they aren't. Which bums me out.
Come on now. Viva Piñata and Kameo are great games produced by Rare while owned by Microsoft.

That is what is called a "triplet" in the first measure.

I honestly think they're hinting at Banjo-Kazooie 3.

This would make my year.

I doubt they're that bothered about "doubters", no point trying to please people who will never come round.
They've probably developed incredibly thick skins at this point.

I'm still surprised that their facebook page is as open as it is. The comment sections are full of cringeworthy comments.

Don't be silly, Rare are dead and all the new hires they got are untalented because the people that were at Rare 10+ years ago are the only talented people in the industry!

And there's this. I hate all the 'Rare is dead' posts. Must be shit reading them if you actually work there.

Well, what people mean by that is that Rare don't make games like Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Diddy Kong Racing, Conker's Bad Fury Day, Donkey Kong Country and Blast Corps anymore.

Why would they make another Blast Corps? They are better off using its gameplay elements in another game.

This is ridiculously subjective. Many of us would absolutely love a new Blast Corps. With the technology in today's systems? A game like Blast Corps where your entire goal is just to use machinery to destroy things?

Maybe as a smaller release? It's a hard game to sell.

I don't get what's SO bad about new Rare, I mean yeah, they made some Kinect games lately. But just last gen they gave us Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo, Banjo and Viva Piñata, and for one studio that's a lot. Also not developed by them but Killer Instinct is better than ever.

Rares mistake in my opinion was not continuing their Jetpac Refuelled team.

They should have done ports for all their N64 stuff and their 360 games

Crackdown x Blast Corps.

Get to work Rare/Cloudgine.

I don't think that's entirely Rare's fault though.

Obligatory

But in all seriousness, I think they still have it in them.
Sure, Nuts and Bolts was different, but I really loved it for what it was. People only hate it because it's a BK game with little to no platforming

Don't know how big a year this will be for Rare, or not, but people believing Rare as a studio no longer has what it takes to develop a great game are definitely far off in my view.

What has kept Rare from making truly great games hasn't had a thing to do with their ability as a developer, but more simply, I think, the creative direction that was decided on at an early stage in development. At that point, once the decision is made, the rest have no other choice but to simply go with the flow and get the game made. They've tried enough different things over the years for me to at least have a good deal of interest in whatever they plan on doing next. I think it starts at the beginning for Rare. Just pick a better overall idea/vision for their project from the start, and I think the rest will take care of itself.

Can't really extrapolate anything musically from such a small fragment. However, it's interesting that they chose to depict a triplet. A third game in a series? A game with three main characters? Might be a new IP for all we know.

That makes me want to believe that we're going to see more than one Rare IP make a showing this year, with at least one from Rare.

In addition to Conker in Project Spark, I think we will see Banjo from Rare and maybe Battletoads from another developer since Microsoft recently renewed the trademark. I think a remaster (maybe by 4J?) of Conker Live & Reloaded could be in the cards to make up for the outcry over Conker in Project Spark last year.

Interesting that some are associating the mere notes with a Banjo hint. 6 months ago the same Robin Beanland posted this on Twitter:

And 4 days later, this:

https://twitter.com/TheRealBeano/status/475981017480982529

:)

Surprised you all didn't quote the hell out of this guy. Robin's previous two hints on Twitter were two photographs of a fucking banjo. Like, how much more obvious can you be?

Current rumour mill strongly indicates Banjo Kazooie 3 and this just adds more fuel to the fire. There's a chance it's Perfect Dark but according to Phil Spencer that might be some years away. Outside chance it's Conker because of his inclusion in Project Spark.

It just has to be Banjo. All signs including this one indicates that it is.

Banned
Never been much of a Banjo or Conker fan but new Jet Force Gemini or Perfect Dark would get me pretty excited. Especially Perfect Dark. I am up for some cyberpunk espionage action and Joanna is due for a return.

The prospect of Banjo coming back now just reminds me of the sheer stupidity of Nintendo selling Rareware during the GameCube era. You give up all those IP's (Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemeni) and an experienced FPS developer for what? Money, something you've got plenty of. Stupid. I look forward to what Rare produces this go-round.

It's happening?

It's happening.

no, that Banjo thing isn't what he wrote in the other tweet.

I got my very talented composer friend of mine to play the contents of that tweet...here it is!
A prize to the person that can work it out!

Whilst you are there why don't you have a listen to some of his other work, I'd recommend

I think the rumor was that things were not going so well between Nintendo and Rare during the development of Star Fox Adventures? I could be completely wrong about that though
