I agree with Batzi on the "MGS will always feel like it belongs to Sony" topic. It was an exclusive up to MGS4 except for non-canon titles like Ghost Babel. Microsoft seemed to have worked hard to get this franchise on their consoles, beginning with the MGS: Rising announcement during their event.
Like him I'm ok with MGS being played on other consoles but it will sure be a Playstation exclusive in my memory and
in my heart
.

Yup me too I don't mind mgs on other consoles.. But it seems like a sin if I don't play it on Sony consoles. Hell, I got the PW LE psp just to play the game.

All I will say is that traditions are like sports records -- they're meant to be broken. If past games in the series get a PC release (proper, not like the ports we got in the past), then that perception probably changes a bit. I think the thing that got lost in this whole "PS4 vs. the world" talk is that many people here are double-dipping the PS4 and PC versions. I completely disagree with the notion that players who don't play PlayStation should be kept from the game. Why would any Metal Gear fan want that? Batzi made a freaking thread about being a proud Son of Hideo a few days ago -- why spend so much time trying to convince others that they should play Metal Gear and then discourage them from playing it on anything but a PlayStation? Makes no sense. Also, modding does not mean you're altering anyone's vision -- it means you are simply getting someone else's. Why would anyone NOT want mods? If they don't want to use them, fine. But to imply that they shouldn't be a part of the game? "I had fun once and it was awful."

I guess I can wait a few months I've been waiting 9 years for FFXV.. Patience level : Sage

This. FFVersusXIII's cancellation killed me.

I hope Kojima will be okay with all that crunch going on. :/

He sounds like he's having a hard time. I wonder if there's any substantial weight to that March 2015 date now if they are really stressing about crunch time.

People just don't want to feel "left out" or that they have the "inferior" version, so they likely want to keep their preference validated. Not saying that's the case for all those claims, but I think that's how many feel in most cases.

I'll likely stick to PS4 personally, since my computer is butt and they visual/performance disparity doesn't look that tremendous to me. If there's a better MGO crowd or interesting mods on PC though, I may double dip eventually.

I want an MGO3 beta so bad. That would so tide me over until release.

Were previous MGO modes influenced by the single player at all? I wonder if Mother Base will affect your character at all or vice versa.

In hindsight of Ground Zeroes and GTAV, I hope Kojima realises he should be proud of MGSV instead. While GTAV is a competent game, it's a pretty superficial with no depth to its systems or its story. GZ may only offer 2 hours of content, but the amount of time I've gotten out of it completely dwarfs Rockstar's effort.

Yeah, I much prefered GZ to GTAV, but Kojima's American fetish can never be stopped.

Kojima is too humble.

If MGS V is as good as I expect it to be, it will wreck GTA V.

In his defense, that tweet is only talking about the trailer and they were pretty hype-worthy. But still, the MGS V trailers are some of the best videogame trailers I've ever seen.

GTA V is an extremely impressive sandbox with a good eye for detail, but so is Metal Gear Solid. Kojima is a perfectionist. And the GTA V story was okay at best. I'm way more interested in the story of Big Boss.

I completely agree but you know what? it is good that he has that view point, this way he keeps pushing and pushing himself and his team to make MGSV the best they can.

Every day without a release date makes it harder and harder to keep myself from watching th e3 2014 trailer... it's the only trailer that I've been able to blackout from myself

I sometimes will view single screenshots of the trailer but never large segments... the skullface with zeke was a huge spoiler

I think so too but if you've seen this you can go and watch the whole trailer. It might ease the (phantom) pain that comes from the waiting.

Well that was probably the biggest spoiler in the trailer and if you already know that go ahead and watch it. I mean i don't know how spoiler sensible you are, i don't wanna ruin it for you but they really don't spoil too much in the trailer.

And if that helps we all watched the trailer countless of times and still don't know shit about the story :p

It's a well done trailer and got lot's of praise (no shit it's from Kojima) if anything it gets you even more hyped for the game.

Wish I could learn the gameplay structure of TPP, it sounds very different to a traditional MGS game.
Kojima has talked about the missions being like chapters in a TV show, so you can watch them in any order and work out the story. But who watches a narrative based TV show episodes in random order?

It's going to be PW style.

yeah, more or less a better PW with the option to switch missions whenever and being able to play briefings and probably manage mother base while you're in the middle of a mission

Yong Yea (via Facebook):
The commentary for the MGO3 trailer analysis by itself is a little over 55 minutes long, so the full video should clock at around an hour. This is definitely going to be my longest analysis yet.

Nice, can't wait!

It really doesn't sound like it. I know a lot is brought across from PW, but not the talk of a non-linear narrative.

It's like any other open world game I imagine. You choose what side activities you wish to do in any other and new story details open up to you when/if you decide to do them.

So I'm grinding in Peace Walker. I'm just before the Cacoon fight story wise, and I'm trying to get more vehicles for outer ops so I can deploy troops in between side ops. Any tips? I'm getting really tired of fultoning useless troops in lieu of killing them. Should I throw caution to the wind and say fuck my heroic level? I beat this game way back in 2010, and did a story run on my psp in 2013 using a save file from GameFAQs. I'm kinda rusty.

Yeah you're probably right, might just be a few narratives running alongside each other compared to the single one in PW. I can't actually find the quotes I'm thinking of unfortunately.

Haha don't even try getting vehicles until you get the Fulton Mine (which you can only get after finishing the story iirc), you don't have enough balloons for all the soldiers, especially for the real useful vehicles. Just keep with the Main Ops
