I must be in bizarro world....

why would anyone see a price cut on the PS4 as a bad thing? are you all shareholders?

This is probably the only place in the world where a price cut is frowned upon lol

unbelievable

I'd love a PS4 price cut right now... It just doesn't make any sense for Sony to actually do it since they are tying MS in the US and making bank everywhere else.

Nobody's defending a price-cut, we're rationalising why it makes sense that Sony hasn't done it.
I don't get why you're bothering to respond to someone who enters into a sales discussion thread and questions why people are discussing pricing strategy. And who has such a colorful 59 post history.

Oh, a price cut would be nice. But I just don't see many reasons for Sony to do it... Plus whenever they actually cut the price, they will probably do it worldwide, and definitely. Not some limited to US and temporary thing like what Microsoft did and does.

I don't check post-history. Well, most of the time, I don't.

And if you've known my posting style, some would notice that occasionally, I have a tendency to post before thinking things through, thus making some edits every now and then when an intended joke/quip falls flat. The same applies to random retorts like this.

And thanks for the tip.

PSV too high.
XBO too low.

I only do it on occasion, when a member I'm unfamiliar with posts something pointless or inane to see if they're actually worth responding to or if it will fall on deaf ears/they aren't actually interested in any actual discussion.

I am quite surprised Vita sold so well, considering there were no new titles or even bundles.
A Vita Minecraft bundle would have pushed it even more I guess....

I wonder how much FW 2.0 for PS4 will sway the casuals if it includes DLNA. I personally know a few looking to upgrade from PS3 once DLNA is 'enabled'

+ wii u too high
Hmm, did another remeasure of the angles in the pie.
130.503
158.866
70.631

This time using PS4 1070K as base gave 579K, which I'm guessing is slightly low.

imageJ measurement error has a greater proportional effect on Wii U given it's relatively smaller segment/numbers.

It would be very surprising though if Sony continued like this for the months to come without reacting properly to the competition.
Sony murdering competitor worldwide. Even though I do expect some value proposition deals if thing will go bad in NA, I don't expect full price cut until Sony ready to roll out it WW.
For Sony rotw is twice the size of US market, for MS - it's only around half of the US market and if we look at US+UK - it is 3 times larger that the rest of the world combined. So for both companies focus is different thus the actions and reactions also differs.

The numbers for December are interesting, I wonder if January price slash will be enough to make xbox competitive for the month. As it seems $350 with both games was the magic number. Love the Vita numbers btw. :)

Sooooo, can we say that we are looking at a 2:1 split WW?

Microsoft trying to retain the Momentum by reducind the Price (again) shows, that they're not satisfied with the numbers.

~250k Gap with 50€ less +1 Game more isn't something to be satisfied with.

1.8 to 2 seems about there, depending on how much one high/lows the respective figures.

150k for a current gen system in December is AWFUL. It is just the past numbers makes it seem "good". But by no means 150k is close to good at all.

1.2-ish million. Reduced to 500k-ish.

Disclaimer : my margin of error is higher than the folks who keep up in detail. Tread with skeptism and three pinches of salt.

That is very impressive and all in 2 months. January is going to be a great indicator on if MS really turned this ship around.

Sony won't cut the price till the new fiscal year or possibly when they can be confident they can meet the new demand levels a pricedrop will create.

With a ballpark 2:1 lead WW I doubt they'll pricecut until manufacturing costs let them do so and maintain current margins.
Based on last gen, maybe not even then - they'll just do "value add" SKUs rather than actual price drops (larger HDD, more titles bundled).

I think February onward will be a far better indicator since the Xbone will be $349 for its entirety.

I think the price being brought up at $400 was going to harm the Xbone considerably in an already slow month, and they sold at that price for the first half of this month

Good. I hope MS keeps kicking Sony's ass for another 6 months the way PSN has been utter shit this fall. Never before have I felt a sense of uncertainty every time I turn on my console. PSN service has been a mess since Destiny launched, not to mention the one exclusive they had (Drive Club) also being a total mess. Sony deserved a severe beating this fall, and hopefully this will force them to better their services and games.

The lack of quality exclusives did not help last year given that I don't care much for Ubisoft franchises (which kinda ruined this fall for me). It will be two years into the console life cycle before I get to experience Uncharted and Ratchet, and still no signs of other beloved sony franchises like GoW or Sly. I love good indies, but my console wont survive on them alone.

Luckily I bought a Wii U this fall, and it has made my PS4 pretty much just collect dust.

I really want to hear GTA V LTD sales. It was mentioned a while back that it was on track to be the best selling non-bundled console game of all time.
