Watched The Guest last night. Soundtrack lived up to the hype. Wasn't a perfect movie, but I enjoyed it all the way through to the credits.

I can't be the only one listening to this one, am I? This album will not stop blowing my mind.

Great thread here. I've listened to a lot of stuff recommended in this thread--Near Dark, Dangerous Days, The Construct, Saturdaze to name a few. What has really stood out to me is Timecop1983's Journeys. I totally love the more chill type that the album provides. This all started with Drive so think Nightcall, etc. Mainly I'm looking for catchy synth music to drive to at night. I like dreampop stuff too like Tulips by The Bilinda Butchers. I like vocals as long as they're good.

Any recommendations? Don't be afraid to recommend something that's already popped up in this thread; I may have missed it.

New Retro Wave's three 80's Dream Mix Compilations have a lot more chill stuff on it that's good for driving around at night to. Check em:

The poster above you mentioned Sellorekt/LA Dreams. That might be the kind of music you're looking for! I recommend starting out with this compilation album to see if it's to your liking: http://ladreams.bandcamp.com/album/best-of-sellorekt-la-dreams-2013-2014

Plaisance is also very good. The albums Thunder In Paradise and Havasu are my favourites. The balance between laid-back songs versus uptempo songs is perfect, and the tropical vibe is quite soothing.

Havasu: http://playmaker.bandcamp.com/album/havasu

Miami Nights 1984 is a great source for upbeat, nostalgic tunes.
Turbulence: http://miaminights1984.bandcamp.com/album/turbulence
Early Summer: http://miaminights1984.bandcamp.com/album/early-summer

Mitch Murder has a large selection of great music. The album Glass Cities features nice mellow songs, so you might want to check that one out first.

Yes I did! Great stuff from them, don't sleep on it.

I had a weird moment just now though. I was browsing Facebook and a screenshot of my post showed up in my timeline, shared by the group from their Facebook page.

So...I guess they're Gaffers? Hi guys!

Good suggestion, currently downloading Trevor Something Does Not Exist

Oh right. that album is currently free, too. can't argue with free. I'm not sure how i feel about the entire thing as an album, but there's some good tracks in there. SL is by far the best one though.

the previous album, the synthetic love LP is proooooooooobably better imho.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anything more vocal? Sometimes I'm more in the mood for lyrics, even if they're simple.

Le Cassettes album is a masterpiece in my opinion. Seriously, if that had actually been released in the 80's I'm convinced those guys would be very rich right now.

Yeah Le Cassette's "Here I Am" is so fucking amazing, I listen to it pretty much every day.

He dropped them last November but I somehow completely missed it: Mega Drive put up two new tracks on Soundcloud:

Geist
Kingpin

Geist especially is really gritty, I love it. Mega Drive is really awesome, 198XAD is one of my alltime favourite albums. Hope he has a new album soon.

So I'm checking out Sellorekt/LA Dreams.....and they've made 22 albums in the last three years? WTF?

I'm listening to the latest "Casual" release that was recommended in here, and it's quite good. But I'm not going through 21 other albums. What are the other essentials?

EDIT: I'll just start with the two compilation albums for now.

Haha, yeah he is quite productive.

And yes, start with the Best of 2013/14 albums etc

This thread has been a gold mine. Stupid question though, I just subscribed to Spotify and have the app on my iPhone and Mac.

If I save playlists (like the Master playlist from this thread) as Offline listening on my Mac, can I sync the songs via USB to my iPhone? I don't particularly want to download thousands of songs on my Mac, and then download them again on my phone all via Wifi.

Is that possible? Still new to Spotify, thanks!

Huh I checked CBs spotify page earlier and didn't even notice it was out. Time to listen :D

It's pretty fucking good as expecting. Can't wait for that vinyl box set.

Yeah I really like it. I'm surprised by how much I like Anarchy Road, I usually can't stand vocals in this kind of music.

Bit disappointed by Invasion A.D. though. Usually the sixth track really takes it to the next level as it ends the EP.

On balance I think EP II might have better tracks but EP III is more consistent.

This is his most consistent EP yet. The first two have a few brilliant tracks, but I don't really care for the rest.

I like all of the tracks on this album, especially Paradise Warfare.

Can someone explain to me why Bandcamp doesn't have volume sliders? Seriously, how hard can it be?

New Keats Collective release is unsurprisingly great.

a1215858153_2.jpg

"Disk of Dust is a manifestation of all my favorite science fiction films, books, & soundtracks. Vangelis scores the dark and moody futurescapes, while M83 inspires dreamy nostalgia & wonder of what used to be. The Foundation, Asimov, hard sci-fi - I envision this sort of literature would be accompanied by hot & cold stabs, warm synthscapes, & long draws. No sound in space, but space in sound.
This album tells the story of a “human” from another planet who visits our own “pale blue dot”. What would it be like if you left a planet you no longer loved only to find a planet exactly like the one you left? Would you keep searching? Or would you call this your new home?"

Keats releases probably don't usually fit in here, but I think this one does.

These guys really give me an eighties vibe and deserve more attention.

Their first album was okay, kind of dark in a good way but the singles from the new album knocked my socks off! Preorder for the new album only kicked in tonight so I'm hoping to hear the rest the album tomorrow, hope you guys enjoy what's there.

John Carpenter's album is out in the wild. It's pretty cool. Combines more aggressive stuff similar to what's posted in here with slower songs reminiscent of his film scores.
