Resident Evil HD Remaster confirmed for PS3/PS4/360/XB1/PC

I mean, I haven't played it yet and it's true I'm not completely informed of every technical aspect. I just see that the PC version is 60fps and it makes me wonder why the console versions aren't when they're surely more than capable.

If there's a consistency issue as you and Grief have pointed out, I guess I can understand that.

I'm not singling you or anyone out - technical merits, within the gaming parameters and convention, are always debatable - and are debated.

I do feel the fps arguments being carried out, diminish what the game is and what is was. Remake is a a true gaming treasure; frame rate, tank controls and door animations should be the least of anybody's concerns.

It's like debating that the Smithsonian was (hypothetical) able to restore the the Declaration of Independence, for all to see and look over freshly - decades and centuries on - yet arguing that it wasn't printed on a computer, the ink is smeared, the paper has wrinkles and the authors' intents should be more sensible in 2015.....

REmake certainly playable, hailed a masterpiece (without HD, fps debates) in 2001/2002 - on archaic GCN hardware - will definitely look it's best on PS4, and its current ilk.

If you haven't played the game prior - just go into the game fresh - sad to say, all of the other superfluous debate sully what experiences you all will have.

It's not as if these things are turning people away from the game (at least, I sure hope not). I don't think there's anything wrong about discussing things which would make the game even better than it already is (that said, many of these things are subjective. I'm really happy I can finally play the game at 60fps with skippable doors, but other people might not care).

I've played and love the original game, so I know what you mean. I'm still getting it and I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of it. But I do think that since the new consoles are more than capable of running it at a higher frame rate that there's not much of an excuse, but again if it has something to do with technicalities or consistency, I suppose I can understand that.

Chris is better with the Knife and can take more hits.

Knife runs sound pretty hard but they're actually not all that difficult if you play ahead and I guess save often. You only really need to use the Knife against Yawn, Plant 42 and the Tyrant I'm fairly certain and they're all pretty easy to exploit.

But yeah, definitey Chris for the knife run
Thanks, just finished the knife run with Chris and it really wasn't difficult, especially on very easy where you take really low damage.
Plant 42 was a chore because Rebecca didn't show up to let you produce V-Jolt so I had to cut down all the tentacles.
With Jill you don't have to fight Plant 42 - in my normal playthrough with her Barry just killed it with a flamethrower.
Fortunately the Tyrant didn't show up at the heliport as I saved neither Rebecca nor Jill in the knife run.

I think that will remain my only knife run ever. It's not exactly fun and not what this game is about.

Anyone else here ordered from GMG and registered their keys already? Bit concerned that mine didn't mention it was a pre order and has no listing for DLC at all. Main reason I pre ordered was for the soundtrack...

i haven't touched Resident Evil 1 since it came out on GC, over a decade ago. i probably forgot most of the puzzles, so i'm super excited to play this on PC and discover it all over again. plus it'll look even better.

Wtf why am I so confused by the release dates of this game. At first I thought it came out Friday for some reason, bought and pre-loaded and then oops nope it's out Monday. Now I realize it's out Tuesday. Gosh dam.

So you still can't skip the door animations?

Does this game really need to load that much?
This really does feel like a rushed port that isn't taking advantage of the consoles.

I'd say it's a mixed bag, capcom say it's to keep the classic feeling or whatever but it could be due to a quick port job or something else releated.

I personally found mashing the action button to skip doors on DS annoying after a while, i'd setting with just a faster door animation and you KNOW some modders will do that with the PC version in some way.

I dunno about that. I find the knife runs pretty fun from the games in the series that I have done it in. Knife only Outbreak runs where fantastic. It's all about knowing how your enemy is going to react and mastering your evasive maneuvers.

I'll never forget knifing Birkin in Leon Scenario A with exactly 00.06 secs left on the clock. Intense.

I honestly don't think this game would benefit much from 60fps, I mean it couldn't hurt, but it's slow paced so it doesn't make much of a difference

I'll use the option because it's there, but I also doubt it'll have the same type of benefit as it did for something like Resi 4 UHD

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
So as a fan of CV, 4, 5, Revelations and 6 who never experienced the first 3 games, is this too jarring to go back to control wise? I can't deal with the tank controls in Code Veronica anymore, and I know there's an option for new controls in REmake but slapping new controls on a game designed without them in mind doesn't sound ideal either. This is out on Tuesday and wouldn't mind experiencing the series' origins since it also stars my favorite character (Chris Redfield)

The Gamecube Type-C controls gave you the ability to use the right trigger to walk/run forward and use the analog stick/dpad to maneuver, while moving the right analog stick would allow 180 degree turns. Don't know if something like that would appease you, but I much preferred it to the regular old method.

I haven't been keeping up recently, and am not aware if this option is also available. Sad if it isn't as the DS4 would work well with that.

Type A-E are in this version.

Awesome! The more options the merrier.

Just checked and I'm happy to see that I can finally pre load the PS3 version of the game! (jsyk I'm in NA, also pretty new to the whole pre load thing as I usually tend to go physical over digital)

Ran into my first Crimson Head and managed to get the Armor Key for myself, pretty good progress for tonight.

Trying to play through without guides for my first playthrough ever.
