Great news that Localization is well underway! I'm so excited for this game guys; how much time does it usually take to localize a game of this size? 100+ hour game?

A year+ for a game of this size, realistically.

Ninokuni is the largest game of volume that I can recall, and that took well over a year.

Of course, it depends on when the localization actually started.

In another news of fucked up nintendo marketing: Why aren´t the splatoon and xeno feeds international and in english? Jesus Christ.

It sounds like localization just started? I sure hope not. :/

One good way at predicting when the game is going to release out West is to see when the translated news finally shows up here, and then extrapolating from there.

There's a Splatoon tumblr. And there's nothing on Xeno because so far it's been only about introducing Japanese staff members and not really about game related stuff.

Since "Xenoblade" is in the title, I wonder if there will be a Monado equivalent -- some sort of special sword for the main character to wield. Hmm.

Regarding localization, I wouldn't be surprised if NOA's Treehouse is already waist-deep in writing the English script. They're probably translating this alongside a steady stream of script from Splatoon, Star Fox WiiU and Zelda WiiU... I remember with Twilight Princess, they were receiving builds to translate many, many months in advance of when the game was finally complete.

I also think Fire Emblem will be on track for a fully localized 2015 release, but they'll probably lean on an outside contractor to localize it. They had 8-4 handle Awakening.

They're already done localizing anything new in Majora's Mask 3D. I'm sure they're done with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they've already localized everything for Code Name: STEAM.

I do wonder if there's an Animal Crossing in development for WiiU. In which case, they're probably chipping away at that, as well.

There already is the BLADE which I believe is the military group that your character is part of.

I bet my ass on Code Name STEAM being almost fully completed including localization being almost done at E3. Similarly, I believe MM3D was in the can months and months ago, too and they were just holding off on those two for the N3DS launch. And yea, 8-4 is probably doing Fire Emblem again, just like they did MH4U again. They have a lot of incredibly text-heavy games lined up this year.

Oh, I remember that from one of the subbed trailers. It seems like it refers to an AI or something.

BLADE is the private military group which Elma is the leader of. Go back a page and read duckroll's translations. It's all there.

it would be too easy to continue this story with the adventures of another of the few ships that got lucky and escaped Earth hmmmm

That's true, if they want to do a true sequel.

I still think we'll end up seeing at least another city ship before the end of the game. Maybe it picked up New LA's emergency or homing signal and landed.

you have to spend hours 100-200 somewhere after all :p

Really? I could swear it was revealed last year. Time flies.

The epic January 2013 Direct, right after the Wii U launch, basically a panic move to say "don't worry about the dumb sales drama, look at the awesome stuff we have coming up!"

Oh, the Direct a few weeks after the Pokémon XY Direct! Man, it feels like that was a decade ago.

Well, lets hope the announcement doesn't complete its third anniversary before we get to play Xenoblade Chronicles X in English!

Hopefully not. With a close release date in late April for japan and that translation is well underway I don't see that happing.

They confidently slapped a big 2015 at the end of this trailer. There is no reason for doubt, honestly.

I'll go out on a limb and say if we do find another city, it'll be New Tokyo.

You are probably right, but I think it is safer to assume it is not coming this year. If it does, yay, if it doesn't, it was expected.

I'll bet the farm this comes out this year.
I already bet two farms that Zelda is coming out on Nov. 20th 2015

Not to put a rain on that artificial FFXV vs. Xenoblade X narrative (which maybe has died by now, hopefully), but the lead game designer of FFXV loves Xenoblade X.

Some of you can already tell that there are different approaches in both our direction, especially when you compare this and FFXV trailers, but admittedly that’s some intense competition right there! And we all love healthy competition don’t we? Coz in the end, the fans win!

There’s no clause in my contract that states that I can’t love a game made by another company, so I’m gonna be all out and say that I just can’t freaking wait to play this game! I loved the world in Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii, and I’ll be getting a Wii U just for this game.

Yes, I love my JRPGs :p

Ha well that's awesome. I'm not going to try and get that pointless game war going, I'll just say it's good to see game designers digging other's games. Good taste that man. Both of these games are going to be incredible I just know it.

Xenoblade X in September - October and Zelda U in November.

This discussion reminds me of the never ending discussion on how SSB for Wii U won't come out in 2014.

That works too.

Risky, specially betting on Zelda coming this year. If Zelda is coming out in November, when is Xenoblade X coming out? August?

I am less confident that Zelda will come out this year than XCX. But E3 will be the deciding factor for both games. How much gets shown(more for zelda than Xenoblade) and are they still set on 2015 at that point.

I don't think there's any reason to doubt Xenoblade X coming out this year. It's releasing in April in Japan, and that means the only thing that beyond that which needs to be done for the western release in the localization.

But Nintendo surely must know about how much text there is, how much voice acting is needed, etc. Aside from the fact that they'll already be working on it, they can surely have a pretty strong estimate for when the translation would be complete. The fact that they're still committing to a 2015 release with the Japanese release being in April means the only reason that the game could miss 2015 in the west is if it gets delayed in Japan.

Something like Zelda is a different matter in that development can have unexpected snags and suddenly a game just won't be finished in time. But Xenoblade will be finished in April (probably actually finished in March, really), and it's a first party game, so Nintendo doesn't really have to worry about some crazy complications with the localization process to the extent that a third party localization company does.

Irina (that's what the page has as her Romanized name) served under Elma's in the Doll Corps on earth and even though she is now in B.L.A.D.E. she still respects and follows her.

Van Damme is the commanding officer of B.L.A.D.E.

Does anyone want full translations of all the character profiles? I can do them if so.

Masked Man

I said wow
Irina (that's what the page has as her Romanized name) was originally Elma's superior officer in the Doll Corps on earth and even though she is now serving below Elma in the B.L.A.D.E. division she still respects and follows her.

Whoa, where do you see the transliteration of her name? Am I blind? D:

Yes please, would be much appreciated!

Could you say the name of the voice actors?

My poor translations got Tessho Genda for Van Damme and Natsumi Takamori for Irina, but I think at least one of them is wrong =X
