EA: Star Wars: Battlefront will recieve a Battlefield-sized marketing push

damn it all.

Then I am out.

Unless my memory is faulty, i thought SWBF2 had a third person mode.
Both BattleFronts were predominantly third person, but the first had full first person support as well (though I believe PS2 lost this option). As I recall, the second had limited fist person support.

it already had sprinting and dodge rolls in the second (you had a stamina bar)

which is why I preferred 3rd person, I liked knowing where I was dodge rolling and having a better field of view
Honestly, I disliked the dodging and sprinting mechanics.

I really hope this game will be more like the originals instead of being Star Wars: Battlefield.

I am both excited and terrified when it comes to this game.

Can't wait for this.

I want truly epic battlegrounds with space battles and galactic conquest. Plus DICE's very own version of Titan where we get to board Star Destroyers instead.

I think im going to screencap the expectations that people have and post them when the thing finally arrives. There will be despair.

because it is a decade later and it's made by an entirely different development team with different goals.

Pretending there aren't going to be quite a few changes is more than a little naiive.

What a silly thing to worry about.

Every iteration of a game series has quite a few changes. The changes could make it great.

Battlefront always seemed to me like a 3rd person Battlefield, except with the ability to fight against bots.

They better allow us to use bots; it being online multiplayer only would be horrible.
Amen.

From memory, the different character-classes and vehicles had much more character in Battlefront.
In recent Battlefield games there is so much overlap between class and vehicle loadouts that it's all rather samey. Battlefield's way is great for fine tuning your loadout to your own style, but makes 'learning' each class rather meaningless.

I hope I'm wrong, but I can see classes/loadouts being a customisable mess of infinite options. :(

EDIT: Also, a word of warning. The launch date being set due to the movie release isn't a good sign that the devs are going to be given time to work out all the bugs before release.

This game has a load of red flags against it. Hopefully EA actually address some of them before release, but given that this game is going to print money no matter what they do, I'm not sure they'll bother investing the resources.

For some reason I thought it was coming out next year. Can't wait, my most anticipated game, releasing alongside my most anticipated movie. Good year to b a star wars fan

BF4 was a misstep and honestly it's probably difficult getting your game out on five platforms under high pressure deadlines. But same engine they've learned a lot, BF4 is fixed, EA willingly delayed Hardline. I don't see another fiasco I see a company who learns from mistakes. Pre Ordered and ready to buy Battlefront Premium

Well it's your money so you can do whatever you like and to be quite honest I'd love to be wrong. I want DICE to prove me wrong and make a kickass game however, I just don't see how anyone could trust them anymore.

As if Battlefront wasn't always a Battlefield mod guys.

BF4 is a fantastic FPS so if this Battlefront is like that then I am over the moon. Plus that DICE sound design and destructibility...damn this is going to be good.

64 players on Both with the Frostbite engine? This is the dream guys, it's what we have all wanted.

What red flags does it have against it?

my prediction is that this game will have at least 3 million in preorders prior to dec. the hype will sell this game across all platforms. itll be the only star wars tie in game with a big budget, so im sure itll do well on sales charts.

If it turns out to be a Battlefield game with a Star Wars skins amma be pissed.

That's pretty much what I want to be honest...

I predict a December release along with Episode VII. I also expect levels and character from Episode VII.

November release with free DLC of a level or something from the movie. That way they hit Black Friday but give fans a visit to Episode 7 as well. Avoiding spoilers from releasing it early.

its nice to finally hear EA and Dice talk about the game. This is one of my absolute must buys for the year. if it fails to deliver I don't know what I'll do.

Like it needs it!

Never underestimate the Star Wars merch juggernaut. All they need to do is use assets from the new film and it will do the marketing for them. I'm expecting amazing numbers. Hell, I'll be buying a PS4 just play it..

Expectations are running pretty high with this title, it will be impossible to live up to most of them. I predict much disappointment at launch.

I'm looking forward to this a lot. I really need this to have instant action and galactic conquest. Would love the maps from the previous 2 games as well.

I am wondering if this will even follow the new films.

Is it just the classic films? The Prequels too? The Sequel Trilogy?

Wonder if we'll get a console bundle on either platform? My friend keeps holding out hope there will be a Hoth White Xbox One bundle, so he can pick one up. I keep telling him not to hold his breath.

I'd imagine it'll have a bit of everything. Having content from the new film would really help with marketing, so I'm sure that'll be in there too.

Given that we haven't seen anything of the game truly (I'm not counting that in-engine demo stuff), I'm sure there's a good deal of the new film in there. We already know the original trilogy will be in with Hoth and Endor.

Will it come with the delay too?

no, EA will absolutely want the marketing and tie-ins that Disney will do since its a major video game licensed for the first Star Wars film to come out in years. then you have to also assume EA wants those holiday sales to boosts the potential sales for the game as well. SW Battlefront will release working or broken, no matter what

Odd, I thought the console Battlefront games were tied a bit to the Xbox, though there was the PSP Battlefront game.

Honestly, the only marketing thing I can recall from then were the console sticker decals for the PS2 and Xbox from preordering the game at EB/Babbages.

Edit: May have been Battlefront skewed towards Sony, BF2 towards Microsoft now that I think back.

What's wrong with ADS? This isn't a movement-based arena shooter to where it will mess up the pacing. I can agree with the rest though. Would just want to see preset classes with possible cosmetic options.

Battlefront was also modestly tied to Xbox, as the demo that came with the 2004 Original Trilogy DVD boxset was for Xbox. Lucasarts was heavily tied to Microsoft during the early 2000s, with console exclusivity for KOTOR, Republic Commando, etc. Not sure if anything can be extrapolated from this information though lol.

These were game that just wouldn't have been possible in any fit state on the PS2 at the time.

Really hoping for a spiritual successor to Battlefront 2.

I hope jedi/sith/hero characters are as broken as ever.

Edit. If hero characters aren't Playable there is no point imo.

Edit2.
It better not be first person.

I'd rather a development push to make sure things are up to snuff rather than a marketing push, tbh.

Its Star Wars. These days people are born with knowledge of the universe instead of original sin.

You're right, as I remember getting that set lol

Probably not, given this is EA rather than Microsoft, and is generally based on whoever is willing to pay or has the better suited platform.

Part of me thinks that Microsoft might edge in on the basis of the EA Early Access Program, but you can't beat those PS4 numbers.

Its not a good a good sign so many people just want a reskinned Battlefield. You're ruining the chances the rest of us have of getting the game that Battlefront needs to be.

Does anyone else with that they could be playing Star Wars 1313 right now?

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Battlefront, but man I really would love to be playing as a Bounty Hunter on my PS4, right now.

how much advertising money is Microsoft going to want to throw at a space fps coming out holiday 15 when they are already going to be pushing Halo during the same time frame?
