COMICS! |OT| January 2015. So many variants you'd swear it's 1995 instead.

Ed's Spider-Gwen piece was way better than the JSC variant

Reminds me of Spectacular Spider-Man 101 which is one of my absolute favorite covers:

So if I got a subscription to Marvel Unlimited, would that be enough to get me more or less reasonably caught up on Hickman's Avengers stuff or is the archive more far behind?

How far behind are you? If you're more than a year or so behind, it's definitely worth it from a cost standpoint... and you can always pick up the issues not yet up on Comixology if you want to be current.

Marvel unlimited is like wearing last seasons fashion. I mean who does that?

Without MU, we'd have never got Rhaknar Reacts, which has been the highlight of the thread for the last while.

It's a great service and I wish more companies did it. I do worry about how much the creators get from it (probably dick all), but:

so I nearly always go with the all-you-can-eat sub option for most media.

Really need to get the jawb, but it's looking good after three weeks.

I'm not current like at all. Well over a year behind by now. I've occasionally picked up some issues here and there, but that's just when they're the, "omg you have to read this" ones that has everybody talking, haha. I mostly ride the DC bus honestly, but the whole reboot thing has me interested in trying to get more into Marvel again.

So that's really good stuff? Or just good? And is it primarily space based or Earth based, or pretty even mix? I feel like maybe you guys could drag me into ordering that, but I don't know, not much of a Green Lantern guy... how much Guy does it have? Because Guy is clearly the greatest of the Lanterns.

Also, I had a "holy crap that's a weird coincidence" moment earlier today. I've been reading part 7 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and I read Dororo from Osamu Tezuka earlier in the week, and both the titular character of Dororo (at least I'm pretty sure that's where I read this) and
Diego Brando/Dio
from Jojo's have
a mother who ends up using her hands in place of the bowl they don't have to feed her child soup/whatever despite the scolding that ensues, and then dies shortly afterwards
in their backstories. Could totally be a reference or it could just be a coincidence since it's not THAT crazy specific of a plot point, but it was still weird reading that specific thing happen to characters twice in a week. (BTW, really don't highlight those spoilers if you haven't read Steel Ball Run and intend to read Jojo's in the future).

ed, these are fucking dope!

Also, I'm always for the original creators working on as much of their story as they can together. Don't think anybody else can do what Aja did for Hawkeye, and I'm just happy that a finale is coming from the team.

So, other than Hawkeye, what titles from the big two have managed to keep the same creative team intact for a largely sustained period of time (ie only the occasional fill-in) over a pretty long run? Right now all I can really think of is Snyder/Capullo on Batman and Waid/Samnee on Daredevil. Are there many others?

Johns Green Lantern is the definitive run on the character IMO. Kyle is still my favourite GL, but that's largely due to Morrison/Waid/Kelly-era JLA. This seems to collect everything up to Sinestro Corps War except for three Tales of the Sinestro Corps One-Shots, so this is the best parts of the run in one book. I've read it all multiple times and I'll be getting this if the jawb works out.

Rebirth alone is worth it. By far the best re-introduction of a character ever, even with the reveal at the end. I got chills reading it the first time.

"Hey Sinestro. Green Arrow says hello."

Awesome.

Ultimate Spider-Man had Bendis/Bagley for 111 issues with no fill in artist.

And at one point, they were putting out 18 issues a year. It truly was an incredible run.

I hate that Ultimatum permanently soured me on the Ultimate universe. I should catch up with Miles-Man sometime, I've only read his first arc and Spider-Men. I absolutely loved Spider-Men though.

616 Peter meeting Ultimate May and Gwen, manly tears were shed.

"I like this thing, with you here like this. Take care of her."

"I made the right choices."

Question: Whenever Marvel gets around to doing an Omnibus of Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers, will things like Infinity and Secret Wars be tied in given how integral it all is? Or will those likely remain separate books?

I was considering picking up the Infinity collection, but wasn't sure if I should since I haven't read much of Hickman's Avengers work.

For real though, Dark Horse can just fuck off into outerspace and sail right into a black hole. They put all that Star Wars shit on their horrible app, have a blowout sale to try and get people scared into buying DH published Star Wars, then Marvel just re-releases everything and it's business as usual on the superior app.

Wait, what exactly did Marvel release? Not the Dark Horse-published stuff like Legacy and Knights of the Old Republic?

I was wondering the same thing but the problem with the Infinity HC is it includes the avenger issues. double dip =/ and I think I heard the paper is bad.

We can't really know for sure, but it is pretty likely.

How I think they will come out are:

Avengers by Hickman omnibus vol 1
Avengers 1-23
New Avengers 1-12
Infinity 1-6

Avengers by Hickman omnibus vol 2
Avengers 24-44
New Avengers 13-33

And a Secret Wars omnibus which will include Secret Wars and a mess of tie-ins.

Oh man, I'd be pissed if I bought all that stuff on the shitty Dark Horse app.

Yup. It was a last minute money grab. Marvel on the other hand has been super respectful of the brand so far. They know that fans want it, so why pretend it doesn't exist?

Edit: Man...still admiring Zombie Gwen. Oh yeah, I also just got the shipping confirmation for my books I bought yesterday on IST. That was stupid quick.

Picked up JSC's and Adam Hughes' variant for Spider-Gwen.

Anyone know if the Phil Noto variants in February are going to be cover price or ratio-based priced?

Ended up getting Simonson Thor Artist Edition from IST and some Copic Wide markers with the remains of my tax return.

Figured I had to strike at that rare moment when Blick allows discount codes to be used on Copics.
