I shouldn't be laughing, but I am. Might be his yelling. I know heavy is relative, but come the fuck on. Not only are they failing at 'lifting heavy', they're failing at even ego lifting. They have no reason to have that weight on their chest. These cats are going to snap city in the near future, bet.

edit: "the bar is even bending"

I dont get it. Is it more difficult because they don't eat protein or something? Seems like any other scawny guy would get the same results.

If you're a vegan, you don't solely eat fruit.

Besides, this has little to do with the overall diet of vegans but more this said person's personal diet.

Most likely they haven't been working out for an extended period of time either.

In summary, I'm questioning the relevancy of focusing on "vegan".

165 isn't exactly light if you never work out (that first guy clearly hasn't strength trained much) and only weigh 170ish. I don't care if you eat protein or not. The second guy did a damn good job with 250 for his weight.

tl;dr: I don't understand how to feel about this video.

The most jacked guy I know is a vegan. It's almost ridiculous how ripped he is, and he shaves his head so he looks like a dude who does porn.

Bench press is the most useless test of strength for IRL activities. There is literally no reason to be pushing outwards with just your arms except for bench pressing.

Anyone who hasn't been lifting will not be able to do it efficienlty.

He's a vegan at a fruit vegan fest bench-pressing. It's also funny to see.

I'm scrawny (more cardio than anything) and I get sore with just the bar.

They're working out. Why do you care?

Guys like Duriander and Freeleebanana girl are really hamming up the fact that vegans is the way to go to make strenght gains (bashing my hodgetwins) . Its not to show that you cant work out, but that they can't lift heavy.

Edit: Not saying that all vegans are weak, but these are.

Not impressed. Prince Fielder is vegan too and the dude is jacking home runs off of MLB pitchers.

Or vegetarian maybe. One of those.

That's a stupid the video. The guy doing 250 has some of the worst form I have ever seen. Your ass is not supposed to leave the bench at any point, yet he had his like 6 inches off the pad

The first guy I don't think have ever even benched before, so asking someone to do their own body weight having never benched is pretty hard.

First dude sounded like Pauley Shore from Encino Man.

Someone tell him to use a lighter weight if he can't even do one unassisted rep.

Also, it's a fruit festival - it doesn't imply that they only eat fruit.

Bad spotting. If I have to grab the bar then the set is over. No more you got more in you bullshit.

I stopped watching pretty quickly, but from the first rep, it was obvious the dude had no business attempting that weight. He needed to drop it by 20% or more.

Bad form or not, that's a hell of a lot of weight for a guy his size. You cant deny he has some strength.

You can eat nuts, and lots of veggies to get that protein in. Too many fruit is bad for you too, all that fructose wil mess you up. Isnt there an mma fighter thats vegan?

So do they only eat the fruit while it's in the process of bench pressing, or is it fine as long as it has bench pressed in the past?

He stopped jacking 'em when he went vegetarian. Ate meat, hit more home runs.

Now he's just broke down 'cause he's fat though.

You can't deny he's going to cause serious damage to himself trying to lift like that. Nothing else worthwhile to get from that video.

Based on a one-season sample size with a new team.

Also, a quick search shows that his claims of vegetarianism date back to 2008
So, he did pretty darn good for a number of seasons after that.

Isn't eating only fruit dangerous due to all the sugars?

Ton of fiber and it's good sugar that your body can use. But "only" of most anything is usually not a good idea.

Second dude is pretty strong, all things considered, but form is terrible, both of them need to drop the weight and work on their form. That first rep spot was horrendous, hard to even watch after that shit, so dumb.

Like some of the youtube comments said, I don't think there is one legit rep in that whole video.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
You can be a vegan and build muscle, but just eating fruit is insane and stupid.

First rep I was like Man drop that and work on your form.

Might be because I'm on mobile but I couldn't tell what the plates were either. You shouldn't call it heavy lifting until you're doing reps on your BW IMO.

Thought this was going to be about vegans that only eat fruit WHILE bench pressing. :/

That first guy was making funny noises.

Obviously he is strong, but that form is not a valid rep. 250 is also my current bench press max, but I am pretty confident I could get 260-265 if I did that.

It essentially turns the rep into a decline, and lifts your chest so far off the pad that you only have to go ~60% of the way down

This is amazing. I don't lift for a few reasons, and this is the sum total of those reasons. 'Cause I'm too thin, and I lack protein, and I don't have a colossal ego. Maybe.

... Even so, I do have more definition than that guy. Dude isn't even ripped. :p
