NPD Sales Results for January 2015 [PS4 #1, Nintendo Numbers, XB1 Minimum]

Seems pretty logical that a console company would sell significantly more hardware over the holidays and therefore sell more software than usual in January. Isn't there always a software bump from new owners?

Good point. Never thought about that.

I think we all knew ms was going to lose when they increased the price of the system for almost half the month. February will probably be a better glimpse of things, not sure if the order is going to move many units or not, but it is an exclusive, and in don't think MS has any. Just the marketing deal for Evolved.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Evolve is dropping very fast on Amazon.com, though, and either SKU reached very high ranks either (IIIRC, the best the PS4 SKU could do was 16th, now see where they both are).

And nobody cares about Play-doh Kirby ;.;

But in January they sold fuck all consoles but most multiplats still sold more on One. Obviously while there aren't a lot of Xbox One owners out there, the ones that exist buy shit tonnes of games.

Consider it catch up, they sold so many consoles in nov/dec. Of course people will continue to buy games going forward.

So the Xbone was $50 less with a free game much of the month and it still lost? I have to wonder what their next move is or if the sales are still good enough that being in second doesn't matter.

bloodborne and the order wont move a ton but will help boast a stronger lineup. i think sony dropa price at e3, has a ton of exclusives, morpheus release date, and so on.

why would they drop the price, so they can lose money on it? You dont drop the price while being first.

bish gets all the credit :)
Man, MS's PR is masterful. So many people still thinking it sold more software. I have to applaud them for being good at their jobs.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

It'll rise soon. Also, being a budget price release means having both a different trend and a different relevance of Amazon.com sales on overall numbers from other moren"normal" releases. It's not like I'm expecting Kirby to do fantastic, but still...

If a $340-350 Xbone + 2 AC games couldn't win then I expect a $300 SKU by the end of the year. It would also be interesting to know if Digital sales play a considerable role in PS4 software, because every PSN credit card seems to be on Amazon's best sellers list. Still, it's must be pretty inspiring for MS that Software on Xbone does this good, expected because of the influx of new gamers from the holidays, but still a good sign.

New PlayStation 4 owners preparing for the order and bloodborne In regards to software sales.

Microsoft must really be in panic mode now, surely they can't afford another cut? And would it even work?
Man you're really dedicated to this price cut talk I'll give you that.

Panic mode...lol

Microsofts 2015 games are largely unknown at the moment, I guess their waiting til E3. Their first half is looking pretty barren tho and they don't do random directs with surprise releases. I think Nintendo and Sony are looking to have a good year with exclusives, especially Sony who had a terrible First party year in 2014.

So do you consider the PS4 being given away now that it comes with a 10 dollar PSN card, a free copy of TLOU and for the better part of the year so far it's come with another free game or year of PS+ at Amazon?
Lol, you are comparing what many would call regular promotions (including a game, giving a $10 gift card) to the MS fire sale ($330 console + 2 games + $50 gift card and who knows how many months of Live for free).

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
As expected, Nintendo's PR is noncommittal.
I must say it's been fascinating (borderline creepy) to see you hate me on GAF for all these years.

So Wii U is up 30% yty this January, I comment on that as it confirms my belief MK8 and Smash can still be system sellers in 2015.

That's true. Hope it does at least decent #'s.

Speaking of budget titles, I wonder how Captain Toad fared in January.

Last year Sony was still attempting to meet pent up launch demand.

Agreed. The PS4 probably didn't sell just as well as last year due to that but my point was more that there was no way it was anywhere close to 140k. That was a pretty terrible number for the Xbone and a sign of how well it'd do even with the Titanfall and Kinect-less SKU launches.

Why don't you take the 5 fucking seconds to continue scrolling through the thread...

lol

I did and yet it was still funny how clueless you were. Surprised that the PS4 sold over 140k? Really?

Not really.

Fable Legends, Forza 6, Quantum Break and Halo 5. Plus Rise of Tomb Raider.

I'm sure there will be more, but these are the big guns.
