Majora's Mask 3D |OT| Remakes are a Nice Thing to Have… Heh, heh

Is this tracked in any way?
Yep. The chart on the wall tracks each fish you've caught, with a description and 3D model of the fish, its size, and when you caught it.

There are posters on the wall that give tips on catching each fish, too. I don't think they mention the monster fish, though. But for example, one fish might require the Gibdos Mask; another might require you to play Epona's Song; another only lurks in the shadows of foliage; and yet another only appears when it rains.

For Lord Chapu-Chapu in the Swamp Fishing Hole, I think you can only lure it out of its cave if you have another fish on the line. For the Great Fairy Fish, you do the same but have to have a Fairy Fish on the line, I believe.

And you can fish as the Fierce Deity, although it's purely cosmetic:

Maybe... But sadly, with my new job and a young daughter, I simply do not have the time.

Dreading trying to fit Xenoblade X into my life....sleepless nights await
Just put the kid to work so you don't have to worry about watching her or paying the bills.

It's the only reasonable thing to do!

The stamp on your hand has your balance on it I bet. As someone else noted, every cycle when you first withdraw you're robbing the bank.
Huh, that's interesting. :-O

Will completing dungeons or otherwise progressing through the main story lock off my ability to do certain side quests?

Still can't find the game, and I even managed to find a n3ds. Got told at the last gamestop I went to that he was getting only two copies of the game in a few hours. Hopefully I'll grab one then. :(

Heading to the twelfth store in the past 3 days in the meantime. I've managed to find plenty of copies of monhun4. Maybe, just maybe, Nintendo shouldn't undership when the franchise in question is one of the biggest in gaming.

There are no missable sidequests.

There is nothing missable, period.

Wait, what about
the heart containers you get from the children on the moon? I missed the piece in the Zora maze and it didn't look like the kid ever showed back up. I ended up beating the game missing the last piece of the last heart container.

Considering you have the power to reset time back to the start of the 3-day cycle at will? No... Everything resets. You just can't get major things like masks, equipment, and heart pieces twice.

Now you CAN do things during the 3-day cycle to make side quests impossible to complete for that 3-day cycle. But then all you have to do is go back in time and start over, or reload a save.

Just start a new three-day cycle and try again.

I find it kind of funny that the 3DS has some of the best Zelda titles ever made and 2 are straight up remakes while the other is a semi-remake with brand new dungeons and gameplay additions.

You can start a new cycle even
when you're inside the moon
? I had no idea.
No, you would beat the game, and then when you start up your file after beating the game, you go there again, and they'll be back, and those dungeons will be open, and you can try getting the Piece of Heart

Agreed. My Top Five Zeldas go 1) MM3D, 2) ALBW, 3) OoT3D, 4) LADX, and 5) TWWHD. The fact that 1-4 are all on the 3DS is amazing.

Yeah I had in recent years started to forget just why Majora is my favourite Zelda, playing this remake made it very clear. Majora, Wind Waker and ALBW are my top 3 for sure.

Ocarina of Time 3D is not a remake. Its an enhanced port - it runs on the same base code used in the N64 version. That's why the original glitches and even the URA Zelda beta elements still remain.

Same for Majoras Mask, but they went really fucking all out on it, enough for it to be closer to a remake - but at its core still an enhanced port.

In my opinion a remake is a game remade from the ground up, like Twin Snakes or REmake.

I'm really looking forward to the fishing holes, but I'm saving them for after I beat the game.

Back when I was a kid playing OoT, I was so into the fishing minigame that I wrote a pocket-sized strategy guide for it.

Now they've added two fishing holes to my favorite world in Zelda (Termina), and nearly a dozen types of fish per hole, and you can catch different fish at different times of the day, in different weather conditions, using different masks or even playing certain songs. This would've blown my mind as a kid.

I should mention, though, I don't like fishing in real-life. I wouldn't want to hurt any worms!

Love fishing while the world is about to end. I think I was down to about 30 seconds that time fighting with the fish haha.

This games arrives tomorrow...with my New 3DS. (+ A link between worlds). I'm so excited....Zelda is my favorite franchise and I've never played MM (don't ask me why) but of course I played Oot and Oot 3D.

Any hints for the mysterious music? I've gotten to the place where you can hear it late at night but there doesn't seem to be anything to do. Not sure if I need a specific mask. I tried wearing the ninja one.

Question about how to access the 3rd dungeon:
When the turtle woke up, I saved and rewinded back to day 1 to have all the time I need. But when I tried to play the Bossa Nova for Lulu, nothing happened. I thought maybe I had to get all the eggs again. Or did I do something wrong? This is annoying as hell. I decided to try the dungeon by loading my previous save, but I didn't have enough time, as I feared. So I decided to use a walkthrough to redo what I already did in the dungeon and stop using it when I reach the exact same point.

All the fetch quests and the fact that I didn't have enough time to get all the fairies contribue to the fact that this game cannot be anything beyond good to me. It's sad, because the dungeons and bosses are great.

A 7-7.5/10 game to me. OoT and ALBW are 9/10, easily.

Also, with all those assets and items reused from OoT, it feels like a cheap sequel sometimes, even if everything else is new. ALBW suffers from similar flaws but it has way way better pacing (and no stupid fetch quests. I hate those).

Well the stamp is persistent, so why are you robbing the bank? Or does she put a new stamp on you before reading the old one?

Did you play it as Zora Link?

There's no conceivable way she could know what my balance is after a cycle resets, I feel like that's why they make the point of emphasizing that your hand is being stamped. It's a permanent record that travels through time with you, and is checked every time you talk to her. It's easy to think that the balance is also on there, and updated every time you deposit/withdraw, cause how else would it work?

The "robbing" is that the first time you talk to her on a new cycle, you've never actually been there before. You have no money in that bank. Whatever she lets you withdraw isn't ACTUALLY yours.

Is that in the north side of termina field?
Unless something has changed from the original, jump on the nearby frozen tree. You should sre a guy dancing. Heal his soul.

So I ran out of time to finish Great Bay Temple. But I managed to collect the stray fairies. This is what we call a tactical retreat.

Each time I "nope" out of a day cycle I always wonder if I'm creating a new split timeline and dooming the Termina I'm leaving behind. In a way I'm the ultimate douche, creating new Terminas only to doom it because I need that shiny new wallet / bomb bag / heart piece.

Yeah, it makes me sad that even when you save Termina, a large majority of those quests you undertake to help people will never have had happened.

Do people try to fix as much as they can before going in for the final battle?

I fix every problem in the bombers notebook. Best part of the game imo. Collecting the stray fairies on the other hand.

Didn't know that was possible, with some of the crazy timing the longer sidequests involve. It's like gunning for the perfect day in Groundhog's Day :)

The ending
kinda implies that the Goddess of Time or whoever merged your timelines so as to allow for the best possible outcome and for Link to have saved everyone and such anyhow. Though who knows how much of the problems were just solved by stopping Skull Kid...

I think the exactly same way. :( It's scary everyone in Termina is doomed to die over and over again.

So...collecting the stray fairies...worth it? I'm considering whether or not I should aim to grab them all at Snowhead, or just fucking beat the damn temple and decide if I want to go after them all later.

You'll come back to Woodfall, Snowhead, and Great Bay temples a few times to re-kill the bosses if you're going for 100%, but I always like to just get them in the first go so I don't have to worry about it.
