I used to watch YTV basically from when I got home to when I went to bed as a kid. Pokemon, Beast Wars, Dragon Ball Z, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing... and I know I'm forgetting a bunch. Good times.

Video and Arcade Top 10 was also the shit. Watching video games being played on TV was surreal back then. That show would usually introduce me to games I hadn't even heard of before, too. A cool looking game would be played, and off to Blockbuster I'd go.

Those kids were so infuriatingly bad at those games a lot of the time. Especially when there was a very clear goal (like whoever has the most rupees wins) and they'd just fuck around doing whatever.

I was on that show three times and won twice!

Audit finds 'unacceptable' spending practices at TTC; Millions spent on non-revenue fleet with few records.

Toronto's auditor general is concerned about financial mismanagement of a fleet of TTC vehicles not used to transport passengers.

The so-called non-revenue fleet — not buses or streetcars — takes up $2 million in fuel expenses every year. An additional $7 million per year is spent to maintain the fleet of vehicles, even though some are rarely used.

Beverly Romeo-Beehler's audit states that sloppy and incomplete records make it impossible to track whether the millions of dollars for the non-revenue fleet are being properly spent.

The city can't track how more than 400 fuel cards are being used. More than 2,000 staff have access to the cards, which are not assigned to specific vehicles.

The audit shows that the TTC's non-revenue fleet can often cost more to maintain than to buy the vehicle outright. The TTC also rents 81 personal vehicles, three of which have been on the books for more than nine years.

"I can't explain why we would rent a car for that long," said Byford.

It just find it hilarious that they've had three vehicles rented out full time for nine years.

TTC definitely needs more (ie; any) funding for yearly operations from the Province, but are so incredibly inefficient with what they have. Refusal to automate the system in a way that might cost people jobs down the line, kicking and screaming to make small upgrades like the audio announcements on buses that they fought and a really terrible transfer, token and paper pass system. Even Smiley laughed at our transfer system.

Yep, I'll be posting in Off-Topic so that new people can take notice of the thread. We've gained and lost a bunch of people over this thread's life time, but I still feel like we're not really known to a bunch of members. I see tons of Toronto people in Canadian Deals and Off-Topic threads about Toronto that don't post here. Maybe if they know about this thread and choose not to post, but I'll bet many of them have just never clicked on the Community tab.
