I definitely, definitely do not want music from other DQ games reused in DQ11. Those songs are linked directly to events in the games they come from. Sugiyama scores DIRECTLY to scene while playing the game. That's one of the things that always made him unique amongst game composers.

I don't disagree. I do think ix and x suffered to a degree from the recycling. But like I said, if I had to pick between sugiyama releasing new dq music but having to endure reused music vs not getting any new music from him at all, I'd choose the latter.

Manami Matsumae helped him out with Dragon Quest Swords, and that turned out pretty well. I actually think there's several composers who could step up and replace him. His style is very unique, but they don't need to emulate his style. I think, for now, the best compromise would be for him to write as much music as he can, and then have someone else fill in the gaps, rather than pull music from previous games.

To me, Sugiyama is just as much a part of Dragon Quest as Horii or Toriyama are. Take him away and it's not the same.
yeah they always have adds, at least since I let my Turbo go.

You're going to have to gird yourself for him not being a part of the series eventually. There's no way he's going to be around much longer. Also, Horii has delegated a lot of scenario writing on the series to staff at Armor Project for the last several Dragon Quest games.

I agree that would be a good compromise. It's just hat Dragon Quest as a series is so deeply rooted in tradition I'm afraid that any new composer would be forced to emulate Sugiyama.
I love the tradition too and it frightens me a little to think of my favorite series without their key figures like Horii & Sugiyama or Miyamoto/Aounuma & Kondō. But those days are fast approaching.

I know he's not going to be around much longer. I'm dreading the day I log online and see an article entitled "Fame Composer Koichi Sugiyama Passes Away". I'm just... not ready yet. I don't think I ever will be. I'll take what I can get while I can. I have a strong feeling XI will be his last game given how spread out these games are now.
GE2 wasn't up at midnight for people who didn't preorder and it was a part of the same "preorder to play at midnight" psn campaign.

When they announced this game, I was really hoping that they would do Dai no Daibouken DLC where you give Dai as DLC character to use.

Makes sense. Those Battle Road games are interesting to watch. dunno how they played though.
To be fair Alena's finisher in the Battle Road is clearly derived from Dai no Daibouken (Horii is involved in that comic series anyway).
As for the game many are saying it's much more than button musher (i.e. if you want a mindless brawler this isn't what you are looking for). What do you think about the difficulty?
Anyway I must wait like another 30 hrs to be able to play it

Definitely not a mindless button masher. Enemies are pretty aggressive and will really hurt objectives so you gotta use your monster coins well and do some prioritizing on the battlefield. Using multiple characters for combos is pretty awesome too
It's been about just right so far. It's not hard in the usual way, i.e. monsters too strong/outnumbering you but hard in that if you don't prioritize correctly, things can get away from you in the battles.

Played a little bit at my friend's place.
Game feel is really good. Also looks great on the PS4. I get what they were saying by "It's not a Musou."
It takes some elements of Musou (the huge numbers), but in general this is a different beast I think.

Standard retail wont be till tomorrows update generally around 11am I do believe? As they have already taken down the pre-order page in prepping for the actual retail launch.

Damn alot of people are saying that their orders have shipped. My Nippon-Yasan order is still listed as "being prepared". Now i am getting uneasy. I want it to be shipped also! I paid for the fastest shipping. If this comes in april or something crazy i am gonna be so pissed. I've already spoiled this enough by watching streams lol. Is it the 26th in Japan yet?
