Oh I see, Bloodborne is coming up and you really need to pick that up if you are into Souls game. And the problem about DC reviews is that reviewers is are just like us. They play and write their impressions about it and there will always be biases. I always taken reivews with a grain of salt because i know that only myself know if the game is good or bad if I play it myself. So to judge a game on its reviews isnt a good idea.

I didn't really *really* enjoy Demon's Souls/Dark Souls, but I do plan on getting Bloodborne since it is the closest thing to a huge RPG game in PS4 after Inquisition (platinumed this one already, heh) for a long while it'd seem, before Persona 5 and/or FFXV hits (these two are the biggest reasons me getting a PS4, actually)

Still on the fence about Type Zero.

As for the reviewer situation, I've explained my situation at my previous post at the previous page.

Also, hopefully people don't misconstrue me saying that I am largely disappointed by what PS4 has so far equals me saying PS4 "does not deserve" its fantastic sales or some rubbish. It's just so far a good majority of the games available on the PS4 are just the kinds that I am not favoring at worst or find only somewhat enjoyable at best.

DriveClub is nothing like Wipeout HD. Wipeout HD took insane dedication just to learn the basic mechanics. Having some unforgiving AI does not make DriveClub as deep as Wipeout HD. GT6 was an old school racing game and it done it well. DriveClub is not that. DriveClub is just boring and featureless.

I beg to differ, having played WipEout HD for the past six years, and DC for the past five months. There's no handholding in either, and it takes time to master the mechanics in both.

He looked at a list of games from last year and then stated that it wasn't the first year of the system and expected better than that, so no, that isn't what he said.
I read that as him saying we are now in the second year, and it still reads that way to me.

This isn't the first year of the PS4.

As in, this current year is not the first year. Not as in this list is not the first year.

If I am wrong, that's fine. Not the first time, won't be the last. But work on your fucking tone.

Congratulations i guess. Still don´t get why it´s selling so much. Most unappealing hardware/software combo for me personaly since i started gaming.

Fair enough if it hasn't got any software you want, which doesn't really surprise me anyway, but the system has a lot of great content, regardless of whether its exclusive or not. Coupled with a great hardware and price, I think its plain to see why its selling so much.

I find it funny that every single PlayStation 4 sales thread divulges into the legitimacy of its software line up.

considering i find personally it is better than what the X1 offers..

But not as strong as WiiU

Games are very expensive where I live unfortunately and no, we don't have Gamestop here so no rental either, hahaha, so sorry, but I can't just "try" games.

Games are also very expensive where i live ( around 80$ ) and i don't have Gamestop or similar. But still, somehow i buying bunch of games ( ordering from UK shops ) or borrow from friends or waiting for some deals.

This is just insane talk and you know it is. DriveClub can be picked up and played by anybody who is familiar with games like NFS Shift. Having some tough AI does not make the game as deep as Wipeout.

Nintendo's strength is also their weakness. All they have is their own lineup in which you can basically count on both hands since launch. If you don't have interest in those titles, then your pretty much wasting your time with their HW.

Luckily, 3DS is a much more diverse unit(although still largely Japanese dominated)

How is is "PS4 has no games" still a thing? Bloodborne is coming out in a a matter of 3 weeks. You got Tearaway in the summer, uncharted in the winter. And then you got exclusive japanese games like Dragon Quest Heroes, Persona 5, Disgaea 5 games all coming this year or do japanese games not count? PS4 has the first party support, the third party support and now the japanese support. It's covered on all basis.

I do those also! Hahaha. Especially for my Vita games.

I must say, it is kind of surprising to see that there are some that seemingly find the idea of me using reviews to gauge games that I potentially want to buy as some sort of an offensive thing to do, heh.

Smashed the 20 million barrier in 15 months. Throw in an extra 200k for good measure.
It's going to be a very, very, verrrrrrrrry long time before any other current gen consoles hit that number.

I am just a 90% PC gamer with a little Nintendo here and there nowadays. It´s just a little surprising to a console selling this much in 2015. The times of dedicated hardware and exclusive software seem long gone. No more superpowered consoles, just something a 400€ PC from 2014 can beat easily and the same software i get for cheap on steam.
I guess it´s cool to own a Playstation again.

I guess that's one direction, if you're punching at thin air to vent out your frustration. After all, there aren't many feasible targets around aside from the subjective taste in games. It's kinda funny considering that I've played more games last year, than any year before that. Certainly more than on any previous launch year.

It can be picked up and played by anyone, and starts off easy enough, but it has a pretty steep learning curve later down the line and gets much harder fairly quickly. There are also none of the stabilisers you get with other racers, no race lines, tutorials, rewind modes, tuning options, additional assists or anything of the sort, and the AI is particularly aggressive as well. Gertsmann himself described the game as "the Dark Souls of racing games".

Far from it. The same can be said about WipEout HD. I've had a plenty of parties, where people played the game for the first time. Both games open up more when you put time into them, and are equally rewarding when you finally master the tracks, and beat the times that seemed unreachable. EDIT: Sounds to me like you have barely scratched the surface in DC.

Or it could be that most people just don't own gaming pcs. Add in the first party games like bloodborne, console exclusive games like destiny and the numerous amount of japanese games that won't be available on PC like Persona 5 and Disgaea 5 it's not hard to see why ps4 is selling so much.

as if xbox is over 10m sold. Also, they are actually pretty close with ps4 estimates now, unlike earlier.

they had to just guess from 18.5 m already announced in January 2015 till todate.

so if they guessed 1.2 million out of 1.7 million i think its not very impressive. *Donny the Gaffer probably could have done better.

*Donny is the winner of the January 2015 NPD prediction

By the end of 2013? So two months after release?

I'm just going to assume you're mixing up dates again and meant 2014. So one year after launch. What did the PS3 and 360 have a year after launch?

So 2 months after launch, you expected awesome stuff? Is this your first console generation transition?

Damn it. Yes, I meant 2014. I keep screwing up my dates!

And Halo:MCC? Still not working good, just FYI. Or does that not fit your argument? ;)

Nope, fits my argument just fine. Absolute joke and total fuck up by MS. Inexcusable

Yes, you are! Driveclub as a game WAS NOT BROKEN, Online was! Broken game and broken online are two different things!

Driveclub was ALL about social online features right down to the bloody name of the game. But you're right, it wasn't broken, only the core aspect was broken. I guess when Battlefield 4 launched with broken servers and you couldn't even shoot a person because the bullet physics were busted that was ok too because it had a single player campaign that worked? Give me a break.

I'm still glad consoles are selling well, I just want better damn games. Games like The Order are a joke for 2015.

The PS4 has a lot of great exclusive software lined up this year, with more variety inbound than the Wii U and Xbox One even, both of which also have really good line ups in their own right. I wouldn't count it out just yet, especially since its only been a year. The 3DS was abysmal in its first year (March 2011-March 2012) save for Ocarina of Time 3D, Super Mario 3D Land and Resident Evil Revelations. Now it's my favourite and most played 8th generation system.

These things take time, and it's not that its cool to own a PlayStation, so much as while it lacks great exclusives right now, PS4 has a lot of fantastic multiplatform games. Sure, you can get them on PC, but as its been for the years now, most people don't give a damn about PC gaming. It has nothing to do with PS4 being 'cool' to own.

Show me a 400€ PC that beats the PS4. Gamespot built their equivalent for 550$ (494€, excluding a gamepad), and I don't think you can get those parts for the same amount of money here in Europe, let alone for 400€.

It's obvious the time of dedicated hardware and exclusive software isn't gone yet.

There is no way in hell you have seen somebody play Wipeout HD for the first time without assists and not have major problems. That's a lie.

I guess, given the cyclical nature of everything, this means that the PS5 with Nu-Cell technology will launch at $599 and we will gladly get a second job to afford one.

Who said anything about newcomers playing without assists?
EDIT: Putting a newcomer to play WipEout HD without assists, would be pretty much the same as putting a newcomer to play DC with Pagani Zonda on a wet track.

You said...

...and that is true for WipEout HD as well. The newcomers won't be racking up medals in the later stages in either of the games.

Again, it sounds to me you haven't played DC that much.

I build one 13 months ago for this price with a range of something around 2,7~3 TF. So yes, it´s quite easy to get a cheap PC with equal or more power. You don´t need a gaming PC to do that. Just get the next one from your food discounter.

gif of the same redeeming exclusive we get for years now

PC gamers are still waiting for GTAV, Nearly 2 years after it was released on last gen consoles, People just like the console experience and for £300 the ps4 is the best value around gaming wise, No £300 PC can even come close to matching it and your forgetting the innovation consoles bring as it isnt always about games

We get to stream straight from the console itself

get to remote play with the vita

share play with friends is awesome, Demo's arent needed when you can show your friend the game itself or let him play the game without needing to own it.

VR and Morpheus will be with us next year

All for £300 and wont need upgrading in any shape or form like the £300 PC would need to be further down the line to keep up.

Do you know what means ONLINE WAS BROKEN!? Online has nothing to do with SP component. Offline components worked perfectly since day 1, really no bugs. So, game was not broken! ONLINE WAS for about month and half!
Battlefield 4 SP campaign worked since day one, ONLINE was broken. AC Unity....well, that's a broken game. I erased that game after some patches because it was broken. I don't know how this game work today after all these patches.

Yeah, traditional gaming consoles doing this well in 2015 makes sense when you look at how desktop PCs at home have basically stopped to be a thing people want or need (besides enthusiast gamers and actual home office/productivity type situations).

Do people think Bloodborne will seriously impact PS4 sales? Honest question. How well did Demon's/Dark Souls sell?

It just seems like an incredibly niche title that won't sell gangbusters outside of GAF.
I kinda wonder if people will be kinda dissapointed if they are hard core souls fans.

Like me personally I love the Souls games cause they have some of the best sword and board gameplay. Yet.. this is like souls but without sword and board :/

Almost 250 games released in one and a half year. 20.2 million consoles sold. PS+ offers awesome games every month. Bloodborne is later this month. WIth so many games coming this year it'll be hard to see any other future than sales increasing.

Having Knack win game of the generation by every single media outlet is just icing on the cake.

Not everyone cares about PC or playing games on them, even in this day and age...i know its probably strange because you can't see the appeal, but trust me, its there for a lot of us. Also, not everyone cares about fake hype factors of yesteryear like nuclear missles being used for PS2's or "emotion engine"! special names and esoteric hardware that pushes devs away.

It may seem exotic but that's all shallow stuff.

Also, you don't have to go out of your way to insult Bloodborne either to prove your point. Your not interested in it, that's fine.
