Online is a major, core part of the game. You're acting like they're two separate things or some minor side part. It's funny how Sim City, Battlefield, Halo: MCC all had broken online and are considered broken but somehow Driveclub is not broken. So by your way on thinking Halo had a perfectly fine launch? lol ok. I like my PS4 and like Sony and think the PS4 has a lot of potential and a lot of good things so far but I'm not going to defend broken shit.

I'm really tired of your shit and i don't care if you have PS4.

Offline Driveclub is working properly since launch!
Offline, Battleffield 4 is working properly since launch!

I hope online will not be core part of the game anytime soon! Yes, ONLINE component and OFFLINE component are two separate things. How broken online can affect offline component ( SP campaign ) in technical meaning besides if game is NOT ALWAYS ONLINE dependent? Explain me.

Halo : MCC WAS broken ONLINE and OFFLINE. Online didn't work properly, game itself was broken also : ( http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...at-doesnt-in-halo-the-master-chief-collection ). Maybe now Halo : MCC is fully operational game after all patches.

Sim City was broken entirely because it was ALWAYS ONLINE at launch and directly affected SP campaign. You see the difference now!?

And also RE : Reveleation 2 is broken on PS4. Badly!

People must be popping the champagne at Sony's HQ right about now lol.

They definitely deserve it. Awesome console.

Got mine a couple of months ago. I'm one of those 1.7 lol.

They have a nice stream of games lined up right now

20150218_tvcm_01v7bkk.png

That doesn't include the more niche releases (Senran Kagura, Disgaea 5, Hyperdimension Neptunia etc.) that'll help fill out the lineup even more

What's crazy is that everything shown is just for the month of March!

Are you really surprised? When something is successful, someone must always try to downplay it and/or put it down. It's life, this is why all the great athletes out there have haters...

It's an online, socially designed game to the point where the online club component doesn't just unlock cars but is the NAME OF THE GAME.

We can keep going in circles but if a game if SPECIFICALLY designed for online play and the online is utter wrecked to the point where they indefinitely cancel a version of the game then it's broken. You're desperately trying to find excuses for a game that was fundamentally broken but saying the main aspect and draw point of the game doesn't count somehow. They aren't two separate executable, they aren't two separate versions. It's the one game so it all counts. You can't pick and choose.

Why? I don't understand...console gaming has been healthy for decades now, why should it be different? Consumers still enjoy the same stuff. No one I know that owns a PS4 bought it because "it's cool". They just want to play games...

Thats the whole problem though, some people like him game on PC apparently cause it's cool, and don't on consoles cause it's not.

It's quite the thing. Wonder when MS are next going to annoice numbers? They seem to prefer to avoid it (understandably) but they've got to break silence eventually surely?

Pretty damn strong result for PS4 and Sony. With solid slate of exclusives across year and decent third party titles too no reason to see any slow up.

At this point the only real period of competition seems to be US Nov/Dec. I wonder if Sony will take same approach as last year given such a solid global lead or decide to try and take those months in US too? Would be quite the market/PR blow particularly with the TR launch on Xbox.

Funny to see such as precise number of 20.2 with the usual "more than" modifier. I guess it can't be over 20.5 so I'm assuming it's just north of 20.2.

Mightily impressive and well deserved. Still disappointed in the software lineup so far since there's more or less nothing on the horizon that interests me besides Uncharted 4, but my PS4 will get some hot lovin' once UC4 drops.

.

They don't and won't communicate exact numbers. They will just continue to give a X1+X360 shipment number for their quarter results like they do now.

But in general XB1 has higher sales right now than PS3/360 as well although you have to be careful. MS's influence is very limited outside of its home territories unlike what we're seeing with Sony
xbone month-to-month sales are way under 360 at this point. Both UK/US and DEFINITELY worldwide. all of the "higher than 360 sales" talk comes from the massive launch compared to the supply constrained first 3-6 months of 360.

LTD XBONE is healthy compared to 360. Sales in XBONEs 14th and 15th months are horrible compared to 360 (and even the months prior to the holidays compared to 360)

Not that XBONE is screwed.. Between the massive launch and the massive holiday 2014.. it's fine.. but interest outside of its two holiday seasons is definitely way under interest in 360 during the same periods.

Seriously, there ain't nothing wrong with preferring PC over consoles. But the condescending nature of some is off-putting.

Very true. But not much different than the fanboys of a particular console. All annoying.

Play on what you like, and let others do the same.

I've stuck with consoles mainly because I like a lot of the exclusives there, and really no (or very, very few) PC exclusives since I don't like MMORPGs, RTS, Moba, Sim games, competitive MP games period etc. I also prefer buying physical so I can resell after beating to recoup some costs.

Those are becoming more moot as the number of great exclusives anywhere fades, and consoles move towards going digital too. But for now, that's enough to keep me on consoles since I don't care about having the best possible graphics.

Not sure why Sony keeps announcing numbers to be honest.

Is there a reason they keep doing it? Honest question.

Does it incentivize devs to develop for the PS4? To make more people buy the system? For stock holders? What?

Great to see the drive-by shitposting is still as strong as ever. No really.

Not directed at any particular person, but I just want an excuse to post this for the trolls

But seriously, I doubt we'll get any concrete numbers any time soon. Maybe when they hit 20 million sold, though it's unlikely. I'd hope they would at least announce them if they ever hit 50 million (which is looking kind of unlikely at this point).

Why does Sony react to NPD numbers every month?

It's because PR likes to brag.

They're trying to propagate a message that the PS4 is booming, which helps with perception of the system.

If there's still no games out that interest you besides 1, then maby the system isn't for you? Why exactly did you buy it? I mean it's crazy to me to hear people repeat this. There's more than a dozen I'm looking forward to. I think people are being way too picky for some reason.

If by now PS4 doesn't have any games you want then you made the wrong choice buying it. Same goes for XB1.

Well its GDC week so more then likely to recruit developers to start developing for PS4 and bragging.

It creates a loop.

Many people buying it --> Perception that it's a 'hot' item to have + Sony continually reminding people how popular it is/how much its selling --> More people buy it because others are buying it.

Just wondering. NPD I get, everyone does it.

Just seems like Sony announces random milestones. How many announcements have we had already? 7?

Just wanted to get in the head of PR. What do they benefit from announcing numbers all the time. I guess it is just about bragging.

That's your definition for broken games.

I'm not trying to find excuses. Driveclub since launch, outside online component, worked great! Period!

Actually, Sony never officially reacts to NPD numbers, we just get a simple tweet when they win

That XBox One Indie Launch Parity clause.

Such a variance in number. Do you go all out on the larger install base first on PS4 or go for X1 with reduced income from that and hope it's successful enough to port to the PS4 later if you can't afford to launch at same time.

3rd Party Developers.

That timed exclusivity Xbox One wants? Bumps up the cost and reduces likelihood of another Tomb Raider
Or...

Stock holders, so they stick around, and don't sell out before the good part comes.

They need to also show customers that they are not failing, so it helps them feel secure in a purchase.

They also help stores restock shelves, as it shows demand is not waning.

Technically, its all of your questions, but Developers were already on board a long time ago, so they are less likely a reason to announce numbers.

This is done by every company that sells in the hundreds of thousands and up if you were not aware.

Yes, all of the above. It's a public company, shareholders needs to know how well their invested company is doing. It's an announcement where Devs will know they have a potential customer base of 20.2 million too if they release on that platform. For consumers, you'll know there will be continued support in the product you purchased since it's doing so well. It's what public companies do/required to do if not only in form 10-k.

Maybe i am just to old. 10-15 years ago Consoles were machines with dedicated chips who would outclass every PC for years and PCs were some grey boxes in the basement.

How old are you btw?
