What are the most bought games for the console? Because I really don't know what people would be playing on it.
Tired joke post or the same old troll against the PS4? I can't even tell anymore.
What are the most bought games for the console? Because I really don't know what people would be playing on it.
I can enjoy a game and find it pretty mediocre. I am currently enjoying Resident Evil Revelations 2, but would not at all argue with anyone calling it mediocre. I will probably not remember Resident Evil Revelations 2 in 2 years.
Would you agree that DriveClub, The Order and Infamous have a lot in common with other games that are universally considered mediocre?
As a qualifier to this post:
Sony reports PS4 shipment updates every quarter. Internally, they have achieved absolutely no milestones outside of hitting the end of a fiscal period.
1) ps4 ltd shipped (2013-12-31) - 4.5 million
2) ps4 ltd shipped (2014-03-31) - 7.5 million
3) ps4 ltd shipped (2014-06-30) - 10.2 million
4) ps4 ltd shipped (2014-09-30) - 13.5 million
5) ps4 ltd shipped (2014-12-31) - 19.9 million
Any idea why they released the numbers now rather than wait to the end of the fiscal year at the end of this month?

I wonder where the people that said PS4 sales would slow down are? I remember some people kept saying that the PS4 would slow down & that it's only selling because of launch hype.
It hasn't missed a beat since it launched nearly a year & a half ago.

EDIT: Shadow Fall is actually the best proof that reviews don't mean shit to the general public.
Well, Shadow Fall is the best selling exclusive out of the HD twins as far as we know, beyond exclusives, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield, Destiny, Watch Dogs, & FIFA are the best selling games on next gen.
EDIT: Shadow Fall is actually the best proof that reviews don't mean shit to the general public.
Whether it's GDC, E3 or PSX, some random PC elitist will come to a thread about PS4 sales and start pouring out salt. Those guys really need to get a life
Im actually looking forward to the thread where we get to see The Order sales.
Thus playing the role of the archetypal broken clock.Just waiting for it to slow down and subtlety say, told you so.
Love these driveby shitposts
I don't think this is really true, it was a launch bundled title, I bought two of them simply because they came with the console. In an awesome SF cover art box I should add. I don't think the games sales are reflective of it's quality or reception.
It's only a driveby if they get out alive.
More like a hit-&-done.Love these driveby shitposts
Wrote and posted this after Sony announced 10 million sold. Might as well dust it off for this announcement.
And in the long gone yesteryear
Don Mattrick's words made Redmond cheer
"Ten million first shall win this race!"
He said, with grin upon his face.
"The coming battle shall be won right here,
With games like Halo and Forza and Gears."
He ended his statement with a triumphant nod
Secure in his love from the gaming gods
His words stoked fires among the fans
Each camp clenched swords in bloodied hands
The system warz began again
Three noble fighters, each sure to win
Microsoft, of course, had their white box
Sleek, and powerful, and filled with lots
Of games to play with friends new and old
Or even watch Netflix (if you paid for Gold)
The box upon which SCE was betting
Had power, confusion, and printer settings
The games would look and run so swell
If developers could handle the goddamn Cell
And in the third corner of the ring
Stood the tiny offering from the former king
An innovative waggle-box called the Wii
Would eventually win, quite handily
But fear not brave warriors! War is not through!
Nintendo returned with the shiny WiiU!
It's a console! It's a tablet! It's both things combined!
It's the word "underwhelming," redefined
The other two fighters each had a son
The 360 gave birth to the Xbox One
Underpowered, TV-focused, and chained to Kinect
It struggles to gain traction, or even respect
PS3's new child has shot up the charts
Sleek and powerful, with a gaming heart
It seems quite destined to stay far ahead
Unless Sony acts like Sony and shits in the bed
But now that Gamescom '14 is here at long last
Words did echo from deep in the past
"The first to 10 million shall win at all cost!"
Hung from Microsoft's neck like a stone albatross
So now Tokyo laughs as Redmond sneers
And Lara Croft's eyes well up with tears
For bad news has arrived for the mighty Xbone
PS4 was the first to reach Don's milestone
Why? I don't understand...console gaming has been healthy for decades now, why should it be different? Consumers still enjoy the same stuff. No one I know that owns a PS4 bought it because "it's cool". They just want to play games...
They want to be known as the worlds largest supplier of salt. Not sure why Sony keeps announcing numbers to be honest.
Is there a reason they keep doing it? Honest question.
Does it incentivize devs to develop for the PS4? To make more people buy the system? For stock holders? What?
No, but 18.5 is. So is 13.5. He does have a point.
The numbers might seem random, but the times they announce them are not random.
E3, Gamescom, end of quarter financial results, GDC etc.
The 13.5 number was for shareholders, it was in their quarterly report. The 18.5 was the "end of the year" number.
that man is the reason why toro isn't the face of playstation in the U.S? what the fuck? it'd be acceptable if tehre actually WAS a consistent mascot for playstation, but there really isn't one.I agree.
Unfortunately, this man, and those before him didn't.
Shawn Layden, I know you're in GAF. Want me to have a higher opinion of you? Give Toro a chance in the US.
according to some that's way too high.Insane considering the lack of good exclusive titles
So where would you expect Xbox One is? 13 millions?
hey, I don't mind lol. I was just saying how I miss those days were people would quote me with just my avatar.
Sorry Artisan I couldn't resist!
hahah that gif always cracks me up. Was he kidding with that clap/reaction or was it actually as non-cool as it look?
How old are you btw?
1994
Playstation : CPU 33 MHz
PC : Intel release Pentium Processor of 100Mhz
It´s called having a job. Not bailing. Google it.Interceptor bailed, let's not quote him & derail the thread even further.
Goddamit, people are crazy, i'll never understand why everyone still buying PS4. I still don't see any good reason to do this by myself, sorry.

xbone month-to-month sales are way under 360 at this point. Both UK/US and DEFINITELY worldwide. all of the "higher than 360 sales" talk comes from the massive launch compared to the supply constrained first 3-6 months of 360.
LTD XBONE is healthy compared to 360. Sales in XBONEs 14th and 15th months are horrible compared to 360 (and even the months prior to the holidays compared to 360)
Not that XBONE is screwed.. Between the massive launch and the massive holiday 2014.. it's fine.. but interest outside of its two holiday seasons is definitely way under interest in 360 during the same periods.
Damn, I was hoping it would do better in the first week...
I was hoping for 800K. 46K for PS4 was also lower than what I was expecting. Clearly my estimation is far higher than most people based on the media create page.I see, thanks for the clarifications.
??? It has a 90% digestibility rating. It has already sold out of its core stock and its not in the process of being replenished even though its still selling. It has already broken 500,000 and is almost at 600,000. How is that not selling great?

The PS4 has missed a lot of beats since it went on sale; it's just that when it has hit the beats, it's hit them extremely well. Historically well.
There are definitely people still on the "PS4 isn't selling well" train, but they're mostly looking at those small sample sizes. When the PS4 sold so poorly in January, there were many people in the NPD thread (and Media Create threads, of course), commenting on it. And it is true that the PS4 sold worse this January than the third place console did in the comparable January from last generation. Of course, these people have apparently already forgotten just how well the PS4 sold in November and December of last year.
Regardless, the point is that PS4 sales have been very bursty so far, and less "consistently very good" than the Wii or PS2 were before it. It's been either very, very excellent or mediocre -- but very, very excellent when it mattered most, during launch and during holidays -- resulting in "excellent" overall average sales.
You also have to factor in the logistical issues Sony has seemingly faced with keeping units on shelves in the right places. There seemed to be a rush this time around to launch in most territories. The PS4 has missed a lot of beats since it went on sale; it's just that when it has hit the beats, it's hit them extremely well. Historically well.

This thread is seriously unhealthy for people with high levels of cholesterol.
Congrats to Sony hitting the milestone so quickly. I'm pretty fascinated to see how quickly they'll end up outselling the Xbox and GameCube's lifetime sales.
Old enough i guess. ^^
Hint: It´s not about the Mhz
Pls show me a common PC from 1994 which could run something like Grand Turismo
Pls show me a common PC from 1996 which could run something like OoT
Pls show me a common PC from 2001 which could run something like Rogue Leader
Pls show me a common PC from 2005 which could run GTAV
Pls show me a common PC from 2014 with equal processing power than the new consoles. Oh wait there is. Actually already in 2012/13
Point is: Consoles were dedicated chips with immense R&D behind it. They were ahead. High end (PC) machines were always close behind or about to be released soon after. You had to wait to get similar performance as a 360 out of a PC card. Not for long, sure, but the price was immense. The new situation is the out of the shelf hardware from modern consoles. There is far less "learning" and "coding to the metal" than before. There was already better stuff avaible for cheap even before launch. And thats new. Unprecedented. And no "lol how old are you, hurr durr" will change that. ^^
