I would much rather have Naughty Dog delay rather than rush and meet a deadline.

We have know idea what the deal involves, MS had the money to keep Titanfall off the PS4. But we know Tomb Raider is coming to PS4 (at the moment) so not all PS4 sales will be lost.

Its possible they wanted a large chunk of money upfront rather than wait 12months for the game to be released.

Titanfall is not comparable to TR at all in terms othe consequences of exclusivity as it was a new IP. They didn't have to wait at all. TR deal is also 6 months based on what I've seen on here.

Uncharted 4 was my go-to game to get a PS4 for this year. Now the only games I have left for 2015 on PS4 are Metal Gear and (possibly) Final Fantasy, but even those can be found elsewhere. As someone who is not a big fan of the Souls series, Bloodborne does not really interest me all that much, so at this point (E3 pending), would it be a good idea for me to get a PS4 this year?


PS: I have never played a Persona game, so Persona 5 is likely off the table.

Buy the system when games you want are out. It's incredibly likely that by the time Uncharted 4 is out, the PS4 itself is cheaper as well.

Creative endeavors are hard to plan if you prioritize a quality outcome that everyone can get behind. Otherwise, when you realize halfway through development that something could have been better, or should be different, or whatever, you just leave it in and the product suffers, despite staying on an expected timeline. Making the best game possible involves a lot of self-editing, and devs can't always control or predict when the need for revision will arise.

As long as the delays aren't due to a lack of direction, I think it's usually preferable to take more time.

In the US, no matter what Sony does, MS is going to go insane on the firesales. Even then, the PS4 will still sell extremely well here in NA so it's not like the X1 selling a huge amounts means the PS4 won't. And as we've seen, NA is a smaller part of Sony's overall sales, so again, I don't see how this is ceding the season to MS

Perhaps it's mindshare then? This holiday MS is going to have a marketing blitz on Halo, CoD, Tomb Raider, likely Assassin's Creed and judging from EA access partner ship and how things appear to have been working with that Star Wars Battlefront is a strong possibility. Sony to the best of my knowledge has nothing on that level as of yet (need to wait til E3) planned for the fall. Again AC and Battlefront aren't guaranteed but seem likely to fall to Microsoft. So I guess I'll say they've conceded marketing presence and a little holiday mindshare.

Sony probably gets Battlefront. Microsoft is already pushing Halo, COD and The Division. MGSV is going to be huge for PS4 too despite being multiplatform.

Not releasing a huge game like this during holiday is going to greatly affect its sales. Its going to look real bad this holiday when MS has Halo 5 and RotTR AND they undercut the PS4 with pricing and bundles.

Make a game that makes me forget Uncharted 3 (IMMEDIATE PSA: I know you, whoever is reading this, likes Uncharted 3 and will be compelled to argue with me about how I actually loved it and there's a hivemind conspiracy out to hate it, but I am very, very tired of that conversation and, suffice to say, am suspicious of Uncharted after buying Uncharted 3 day one) and we're all good, Naughty Dog. Just make the best game you can.

This is a strange delay, though. Eight months before release, announcing a slip to Spring? This doesn't speak of something going wrong (that'd be a near-release delay), but it's also not enough time to completely change something. This is some sort of change of scope, but not anything that affects the entire game.

Curious, but exciting.

If you want to play MGSV and Final Fantasy, and don't own an Xbox One, then why not get a PS4? You still want to play those games and they're still coming out this year.

If you do have an Xbone, then wait.

On one hand, I'm glad that Naughty Dog isn't going to join the "rush our game for the holiday season and release in a totally unacceptable state" club!

On the other hand, this does make the PS4 line up look more anemic in my eyes. At least it isn't like last year though. Metal Gear Solid 5, Bloodborne, and Persona 5 (hopefully this year!), and Batman make this year look a lot better than 2014 at least.

Really hope Sony's 1st party gets it together though. I feel like there has been a quality drop off from them this gen so far. I hope this delay means that Uncharted 4 will buck the trend!
