Was watching a stream last night that had me a little worried about the combat, as it seemed a bit dizzying, but I have a feeling this could be a game I'd really enjoy. Definitely picking it up at midnight or tomorrow morning.

GameZone - 8/10

If I was to score the game purely based on its individual mechanics, it would probably score less than what I decided to give it. However, my long hours spent with the game never wore me out. I was always willing to boot it up and progress the story, even if it meant I had to get through its largely archaic systems. I wanted to find out the fate of Rubrum, Orience and Class Zero. And even more importantly, I wanted to dive headfirst into each and every action-packed mission. It's a game I envied Japan of having for so long, and now I'm thankful to see that the envy was justified.

Really can't wait got tomorrow! Got shipping notice! But I will still honestly play FF XV demo first. :p

But I'm glad this game is worth it as well.

Huh, it looks like the reviews are really divisive

Now I'm even more interested in playing the game. Got the CE coming in tomorrow. I played a bit of the PSP version, so I also kinda know what to expect.

While I'm buying this mostly for the XV demo, I'm not sure what to make of these reviews. My understanding was the game is good albeit the plot is kinda bad.

Just under 23 hours to beat from Kotaku, nice to know I'm not going to be stuck with the game for another 60 like I was with Xenogears earlier this year.

FFXV is no longer a FNC game IIRC
It is. What concepts from that groundwork that it will use is anybody's guess though. From interviews it didn't sound like they were going to go hard on it, but we've only seen a small portion of the game. I think they mentioned changing the terminology and stuff, though the concepts should be familiar even if they aren't in there by name.

See the first XV trailer.

The plot doesn't sound bad as much as it sounds convoluted. That's what I take from the reviews, anyways.

So some reviews are saying the combat is great but the story is poorly written, while others are saying the story is engaging while the combat is archaic? lol

I hope you like l'Cie and fal'Cie.

The word fal'Cie didn't appear anywhere in the PSP version of the game. There's 1-5 in the whole game and you never hear them referred to as such.

l'Cie are still a thing, but that should surprise literally no one since this game has been billed as an FNC game from square 1.

I found the PSP version pretty good, I'd give it an 8 too, but now that it's in HD, with 60 fps and gameplay tweaks, A 9 for sure at least...

Imagine how bad the reviews would be if they do them with the psp version...

I don't know what these ppl want in a game to be 9+... CoD maybe? -.-

Judging a game in it's first five minutes seems kind of ridiculous. Excited to play this, however I'll be playing the XV demo first and then start playing type-0. Hoping to be able to put enough hours on it until next Tuesday to beat it because after that, Bloodborne will be in my system.

Some reviews say the side content is great, others say it's bad

No wonder Kagari said this game would be polarizing lol

So pretty much a known quantity because the PSP game came out ages ago. Looking forward to finally playing it either way. I like the Kotaku review calling this not a great game, just a very good game.

I thought the l'cie were cool in Type-0. At least much more interesting than XIII.

Rakuten.co.uk via SimplyGames. They sell it for £32.95 and with MARGIFT5 you get £5 off, so £27.95 all together. That's the best you'll be able to find.

When I bought the game I used a code called FEBGIFT15 which gave me 15% off (£27.92) and then using that code also gave me a free £5 to spend at Rakuten, which I used to buy 2 games that GAME gave me £9 trade-in credit for, so overall £18.92 including demo, bargain!

So FFXV is going to be shit huh?

ty for info £28 is much nicer for me than 36

XV is supposed to deal with Etro and the gates to the afterlife or whatever they were called so I'm sure it's probably still part of that whole compilation series. I don't think there's been any mention of fal'cie or l'cie in any trailers or interviews though

You can beat the game in 25 hours BUT you really need to play through at least a second time to get the rest of the story.

Guess I'll wait until it gets cheaper. Wanted to wait on review scores but I'll just wait for bloodborne next week instead of playing this.

Seems about right. Fun battles and missions, mixed with a dull anime fight-school story and some camera issues. The original release had similarly mixed impressions. At least the controls should be more comfortable now.

Wow, comprehensive I must say! Let me ask, is there a detriment to using specific characters for the majority of a playthrough? I don't want to dance into spoiler territory by any means, but should one make certain they keep the class even leveled?

I wouldn't say it's a determent per say. But I would recommend leveling at least 1-2 more people in addition to your regular three. There's a reason you can replinish your party mid battle - in some of the fights you might lose some of your main guys, and if everyone in our reserve is underlevelled then it might not be enough to defeat whichever fight you are in.

I imagine for some of the hardest side content you will want a fully level'd party in your reserves too.

But I did get through the majority of the story using the same 3-4 characters.

Hmm, there are some bad reviews but then again there are people who hate VIII which is my favourite Final Fantasy.

I'm still hyped for this, I played the original Japanese PSP version for a few hours and liked it.
Just been waiting to finish it on a big screen with better graphics / audio.
