Resident Evil: Revelations 2 |OT| Yeah, but it's only $25

In the spoiler discussion thread, I actually did a recap of the bad and good endings. Both are great, but that good ending is like a goddamn quote factory. They created as many classic quotes in one cutscene as RE1 did in its entirety, lol.

This game was so great. Not enough good things to say about it. Definitely going to replay it a lot and really get into raid.

Whoever voiced Barry deserves a medal. It's a fine art to deliver lines like that with the right mix of humor and heart.

Also, do we know who voices Claire? Sounds like Palutena from Kid Icarus Uprising. (Which is so good!)
Barry's guy is been in some stuff, but his name escapes me at the moment.

Claire is Ali Hills. Voice of Liara from Mass Effect and Lightning from FF13.

Could someone spoiler post what the branching point is in episode three for Claire? That's all I want to know, as I'm curious if I'm going to be getting the good or bad ending. Please, just the branching part from episode three ONLY, please don't spoil the end for me. Thanks so much!

Bad ending if Claire shoots Neil in the final scene with Neil on-top of Claire, Good ending if Moira shoots Neil.

Based off who shoots the mutated Neil at the end.

I think Barry is Michael McConnohie since he sounds just like the Crackdown floating voice guy.

Seriously, fuck the struggle. That bonus episode is so damn frustrating. That sewer section is downright infuriating.

edit: Just lost all of my stashes and have to start over :(

I think I'm gonna play "Little Miss" instead and come back to this later.

Okay, I just rushed through Claire's episode 3 again. It took a lot less time. Got an S, too, which was my first. Took 35 minutes as opposed to an hour and 25 minutes.

I think they're all great. I can distinctly remember each character's voice and vocal mannerisms.

Well, I guess Gina is kind of unremarkable, but she only has like two lines, lol.

"Skills for kills agent, skills for kills."

Yeah, he does a bit.
Anyone gotten the "Killed 5 indigenous animals" Medal for Claire in Episode 4? Last medal I need heh.
Did not even realize that was a medal, although I did wonder if I could shoot those birds I saw briefly.

Yeah, the two times I replayed her section I ran past a lot of dudes. Cuts the length down by a lot.

can someone give me a quick spoiler of the bad ending? I got the good ending and I just want to see what the difference is since I already got everything 100% on chapter 3 and don't want to play it again. thanks...

Just got home with the disc version and... why in a moist barrel of dicks do I have to download rather large compatibility packs? Is none of the DLC included on the disc?

Am I reading things correctly? Are people actually enjoying this game?
How good is this game? I'm actually extremely intrigued and might have to buy it now.

RER2 is excellent. Best RE since RE4. It's winning over a lot of support even from the ardent old-school RE fans. Just masterfully paced, with lots of variety. Great atmosphere, and great characters. A wonderful blend of horror and humor and heart. There are even puzzles along the way — more puzzles in the third episode alone than RE4, RE5 and RE6 combined. Incredible value for the low price they're asking. Shame the previews didn't do it justice.

I'm hoping Revelations 2 does well enough they'll make Revelations 3. They've been trying to make a successful RE spin-off series to go along the main entries for 15 years now, I would like it if Revelations ends up being where they finally struck it.

Revelations 1 was okay, I liked it more than some but it's also not close to my favorite RE game, or even spin-off RE game, but Revelations 2 is very good.

So to unlock
Alex Wesker
in Raid Mode you need to "Clear Raid Mode" does that mean including
Code Red
? If so that's gonna take forever.

Gun Survivor 3 any day now, just you wait.

Yeah, sound like I need to buy it. Is it scary, like at all?

Totally worth the $25 if you plan to buy it digitally. Definitely one of my favorite installments of Resident Evil. The episodic format works wonderfully, and each episode brings something new to the table as you're progressing through the campaign.

Story was very well done, especially towards the end!

Has just the right amount of cheese, and feels like a love letter to Resident Evil fans.

It all worked for me too because (ending spoilers)
these characters really haven't had the spotlight in forever. In Barry's case, you could argue that he never did. And they really capitalized on the switching gameplay mechanic in a way that made me/and both the characters feel like a badass.

Plus, the ending dialogue felt cheesy in the right way. They did a really good job with REV2 as a whole in the fanservice and generally self awareness of the story/dialogue.

This is all I've really wanted from the games since Capcom decided to go that angle alongside the 'bigger, crazier' philosophy. I prefer the more serious tones of installments like REmake, but I enjoy the cheesy stuff if it's done well and respects itself (like RE4).

Edit: Oh shit, the retail set came out today? Looks like I'll pick it up Friday at BB and try to punch through it before my copy of Bloodborne comes in.

So if i beat Eps 3 and
shot Niel with Claire in normal difficulty. Does it overwrite the save where I killed Niel with Moira on Survivor difficulty?

because that would be a pain.

The worst part was with Gun Survivor 4, Dead Aim, they had really struck something, but then they gave up on that series after Dead Aim.

Outbreak was godlike from all I hear (some of the last RE games I need to play) but underperformed, was too ahead of its time.

I actually really liked Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles for what they were.

But if Revelations went to get a third game, I'll be properly excited for it this time. Revelations 1 I wasn't excited for immediately when it was revealed, it only started to grow on me when I started to see some of the environments beyond the prison. But I'll be properly excited for a Revelations 3 after this one.

The game definitely offers a more tighter and enjoyable SP than the last few RE games, namely rev1 and RE6.

I wouldn't say the game is scary, but its real tense. There are some enemies that are hard to pin down and the environments, while not super impressive graphically, set the mood to 'nicely creepy'.

Damn you, responsibilities. I want to play episode 4 so badly.

Ha, I totally forgot Dead Aim was part of Gun Survivor technically.

Yeah Outbreak is great and I really do find it baffling we haven't seen an HD reissue with proper online. The Chronicles games are both good, Darkside is a noted improvement over Umbrella; they really hit a groove there.

I'd of course like a Rev 3 of this quality but I'd also really like this specific team to handle RE 7. Rev 2's failings are almost entirely tied to budget, with some money to burn I'd bet we could see something really great.

It truly was. It would benefit SO much to be on Xbox Live or PSN, with voice chat and DLC capability.

It's still extremely replayable with new players and all the different characters and combinations.

I just leveled up my first skill to mastery. Now it says "inherit" for 30 points. What does that mean exacly? It unlocks the ability to pass it on to other characters?

Imagine if they made a new Outbreak that was also a dedicated Raid game and also a dedicated Mercs game, with characters and settings and scenarios from the entire series history (alongside original content, as per Outbreak). So three games in one.

Yep, once you invest the SP to "inherit," all of your other characters will be able to use it.

However, for those other characters, it'll be back to lv. 1.

Well, there are GAF users that are not scared as easily as I am. If I find RE 1 to 4 scary, will this be scary to me? 5 and 6 were not as scary.

Almost done with the download, and now the real tough question: after episode four, finish raid mode or bonus episodes first?

Ok so I bit the bullet and bought all 4 episodes on Steam. Really looking forward to this but at the same time I'm crying forever about my waifus Jessica and Rachael not being in this. :'(

A Raid Mode spoilery question: Do
Chris and Jill have their Captain/Pirate outfits from RER1? Or any alternate outfits for that matter?

Oh, it goes back to level 1? :/

Do you get SP after your character reaches max level? I'm kinda worried about having to min-max the skill abilities.
