Bloodborne load times look to be a bit longer than hoped

Lots of people think video games are frivolous. People think posting on a gaming forum is frivolous. That doesn't mean shit. Don't waste your time on complaining about stuff you think is frivolous that doesn't bring any benefit to you. If no one cared about this problem, the thread wouldn't be on the first page with 14 pages of posts.

Just because a notoriously prickly bunch gets upset, doesn't mean the topic isn't frivolous. Try not to be so concerned with people thinking your concerns aren't important. It's just loading times.

Why would this not be the day one patch? I think it's not unusual to release the patch prior to launch.

The changelog also listed the same stuff we've been told beforehand.
The only reason Id think otherwise is that 1.01 seems to be a really low number for a 3GB patch.

Anyway, the real travesty here is that there's nothing to read on the loading screen.

There are more reasons why it has so many post. Lets be serious now.

I'm not really concerned, just annoyed. It comes off as arrogant. What if someone told you that you shouldn't spend so much time with video games because they are stupid. Sure, they could say it, but they would be idiots for saying it. I'm sure you have your complaints that not many people care about. Then someone tells you that you're grasping for straws to find bad stuff about a game.

Those are not very good, but the PS3 games, particularly Demon's Souls and Dark Souls II (I don't remember Dark Souls's loading times on PS3 so well) were about that length. So not really an issue for me. Plus one of my all-time favourite game is Blood Omen on the PS1, sooooo.... :p

They could make the screen less boring though, for sure.

Loading times aren't going to differ based on which version you bought. All games are installed to the HDD regardless.
Dark Souls 2 had apparently faster loading times on the digital version vs retail. So maybe there will be something like that too? Or is the PS4 architecture different?

The average PS3 player died 860 times before completing Dark Souls 2. If each loading time was 30 seconds the time spent staring at the loading screen is over 6 hours.
WTF? That's the average? I checked my offline death count on a character that was at the end of NG+ and with tons of PvP and coop sessions and she had less than 500 deaths, and I died stupidly all the time. I refuse to believe that this is the average...

But in any case, on PS3, the loading times were at about 30 seconds each time, whether it was bonfire warping, invading/being summoned into another world, or respawning from death. So, meh.

I don't know. Does the naming of patches follow some rules?

Anyway, the real travesty here is that there's nothing to read on the loading screen.

Exactly! I wouldn't even complain in the first place if the load screens were dynamic. Random item descriptions or artwork.

Staring almost a minute at the same logo is dull.

they will now

As they should, at least I hope they do.

Hopefully this infatuation with Miyazaki/FROM on this forum doesn't extend to the press and that they actually call out these bullshit load times.

This seems to be the type of thing a simple patch could fix, but why FROM/Sony saw fit to release the game like this is beyond me.

pre-ordered canceled. fuck this shit

A bit extreme, but a great way to hit them where it counts and get them to address this quickly.

Sony better be reading this thread.

Someone is actually streaming it, why don't you check for yourselves instead of talking for nothing ;) (didn't check don't want to spoil myself until I get it):

edit: removed link as advised ^^;

Let's see in a week. If they will start talking about loading times even though DeS and DS have worst loading times.

"They never complained about load times before, so they should never complain about load times in the future!"

What great thinking. It's not like they're, you know, trying to get out something people are saying about a game to a wider audience or anything like that. They get together and conspire against Sony just because they feel like it.

Finished the PS3 version of Dark Souls 2, so I won't be too surprised although I hope they'll fix this one way or the other.

Based on what? What's your solution to the problem?

You people act like From added in long load times just out of malice or some shit. Get real.

DR3's post-death loading screens were over a minute, and a quick scan of reviews on metacritic shows no comments about it ... so I guess we'll see how much GAF discussions impact reviewers this time.
First review I googled for it came up as polygon and they mention it.

That seems ridiculously high. Is there a source for that number? I've read it takes an average of 48 hours to beat DSII, if that's right the average player is dying every 3.5 minutes. The average player must suck at Dark Souls...

It's not.

Yeah I read that too. That's why I'm surprised people are saying that 1.01 is the day 1 patch with such confidence.

According to this site:
http://venturebeat.com/2014/04/25/4...e-every-second-and-nine-other-chilling-stats/

The average deaths for 360 players per play through was 421. The portal for Dark Souls II statistics is gone now though.

Ugh 30-45 seconds to load every time I die? This game is such a disappointment. Fucking A-team can't even optimize their game properly. Get Miyazaki away from these games, he clearly doesn't care about basic shit like this. I'll be skipping this and waiting for the B-team's Dark Souls 3 instead.

Am I doing this right xD

Why would you post this? My body is weak and I'm not sure I can resist the spoil temptations

I just thought instead of all of you speculating for nothing you could check with the stream, but I removed the link as advised.

Be strong bro, you can do it!

Just FYI they sell the US version in Paris. So surprised some of you don't have it already.

They would be idiots if playing video games was a hobby, they wouldn't be idiots if it was an unhealthy obsession. It's all a matter of degrees. Same with these loading times. It's a frivolous concern. I'm sorry you're at the brunt of it and you feel like myself and others are arrogant, but on the flip side we think you're fussy. And that's ok. We're discussing this stuff on a message board. It's normal. I certainly don't think people aren't TRUE Bloodborne fans or anything silly like that.

It's not frivolous, it's a legitimate issue. I'm still massively excited for Bloodborne, but this is a completely legitimate problem.

Out of curiosity, what's an acceptable load time for you between deaths? Or at least acceptable enough to not be considered a problem?

It's not.

So, you just took one guy's word over another's.

The changelog of the 1.01 patch lists the same stuff that we've been told about earlier in an official announcement.

There is nothing to support the claim of the guy you quoted. 1.01 IS the day one patch.

Is the aliasing fixed in 1.01?

One guy who seemingly has connections to people in the BB development team.

Dark Souls 2 had a patch to shorten load times on the PS3.

It's been done before, that's why it's baffling FROM would ship a game in this state again.

Wait, so the game has the long load times after deaths? I'm still going to get the game, but man, that sounds unbearable.
