To be fair to Zky-zky, I don't recall seeing it mentioned that often, if at all, in this thread. I was sent the Greenlight link by another friend off-site who wanted the game on Steam. And even then, I didn't vote for it even though I swear I did. It's not important to me, I have no interest in the game, but it's very easy to miss things in this thread unless Ozium or Bayonetta are behind the hype train.
Same here. I don't recall it being mentioned at all. I happened to vote for it and joined the group anyways, but still didn't get a key. Pretty sure I joined the wrong group :/

Let's get this Modbot train rolling.

I have no idea if 24 hour raffles will work if the Steam thread changes during the raffle. Let's find out, shall we?

The Walking Dead Season 2 is on sale on the Humble Store and under platforms it has the Steam logo, so I should get a Steam key and not a Telltale DRM copy, right?

Pixel Piracy has been receiving a few updates recently too(think the fourth and poss final one is v.soon) so worth looking at it again if you were on the fence before!!!!

Found a solution to my GeDoSaTo problem, these settings for RE5 fixed it:
Code:
# Modify the mouse position reported by "GetCursorPos" when downsampling
modifyGetCursorPos true

# Modify the mouse position set by "SetCursorPos" when downsampling
modifySetCursorPos true

# Intercept the WindowProc callback of the game and adjust mouse messages when downsampling
interceptWindowProc true

# Adjust the mouse position reported in peeked Windows messages when downsampling
adjustMessagePt false

# Adjust the reported client rect when downsampling
modifyGetClientRect true

# Adjust the reported window rect when downsampling
modifyGetWindowRect true

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
oh.. I hate how steam only shows you friends who own the game if they've played it... kind of dumb

Yeah, the small space on store pages reserved for that info shows friends who own the game in question regardless of whether or not they've played it, but the page the link takes you to only shows those who've played it, which makes no sense.

Yeah, for whatever reason Telltale still sells Steam keys on Humble. Maybe it has a policy against publishers voluntarily no longer providing certain key types.

Final Fantasy 6 was great, it's still one of my favorites. I like it so much I didn't even mind that the mobile release was terrible - it gave me an excuse to play it again.

I'm still sad that this never got released:

There are a lot of great Final Fantasy games - picking my favorite is like trying to ask me to pick my favorite child.

I like your stand on this, I too subscribe to view that all FFs are good, or at least has something outstanding about them, but I can't deny that some are better than others ;)

you mean worst?

Now where's that ignore button where you need it?

FF6 would be a much better game if it had anything resembling gameplay.
So far it's only been cutscene after cutscene, followed by some FF13 corridor dungeons with all too frequent random fights which don't really require any player input (other than pressing A).
I mean, FF13 at least had some interesting characters, FF6 is just pure crap in this regard.

But we all know your favorite child is ES ;)

For you.
They waived that and now the only requirements were to either A.) Vote for the game on greenlight or B.) Join the game's group up until launch. EDIT: Or maybe it is both A and B, with no comment requirement. I dunno.

Even they admit the requirements were a bit confusing and probably not well-communicated.
Actual requirements are being on the group and nothing else. They have no way of telling if someone voted or not.

Final Fantasy series was great, as a drama like story. But what really deserves a look is the numbered Grandia series. Grandia 1, 2 and 3 are by far my most favorite feel good RPG's growing up. Shame only Grandia 2 was released on PC.

If FF is the main course, Grandia is the Dessert.

What?? Grandia 3 exist? Never heard of it. But yeah, Grandia 1 was simply great, my only complain is I couldn't defeat last boss, I got wiped every single time, no matter what.
Grandia 2 was ok, but I think it's not a memorable jrpg. Only thing I remember was the dual personality female character, and the fact I played it on Dreamcast.

You don't know about 3? I sure hope that was sarcasm. Here. Get it on PS2.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I mean, FF13 at least had some interesting characters, FF6 is just pure crap in this regard.

I would argue that nearly every Final Fantasy game up to that point was similarly linear in that you have a basic objective -> go to objective -> clear dungeon -> cut scene -> get new basic objective.

While it's true that FF6 didn't have FF5's deep class system it was the way it was because it was compensating for what a lot of people thought was a downside at the time - having one-dimensional "samey" characters. For example, Sabin is the only one who can Blitz
if you don't count the optional character you get later on who can mimic other character's moves
. The only downside to this is the magicite system that allows any character to learn any spell, but even that system is pretty cool because it gives characters more power based on how much you use them.

I guess I'm not sure what you're expecting in terms of "gameplay". There are some bosses (even tons of optional ones) that require a lot of tactical decisions to be made. You need to maintain the best equipment possible for a large group. There are dungeons in the game that requires multiple parties of 4 to complete and switching between them to complete the objective is really rewarding. There is a ton of optional content (albeit, later on in the story) that can be completely missed if you're not paying attention.

The only thing I can't really argue is that the game is a lot more "story-heavy" than most FF games which again I think is in response to people who played Final Fantasy 5 and found the experience to be quite "flat" in terms of story (which itself I think was a response to people thinking IV had too much story). Personally, I love it. For me, the music and the story make it stand out.

i remember much of FFIV yet the only thing i remember of FFV was a Tree boss and the Moon, which made it another FF game where you end up on the moon.

FF6 is so much more memorable than the previous games. Right from the getgo, when you're marching through the snow with Biggs and Wedge, the game is dead set on being much more cinematic than not only the previous games in the series but than just about anything else that had come out on the SNES at the time. It might be one of those you-had-to-be-there games, i dunno, but it's still damn fine to me.

I especially loved that the characters play style is reflective of them. FF4 had some of that but FF6 takes it to a whole new level.

I think I joined this website too late to understand the significance of this Derrick01 character.

I always got in arguments with him due to his utter hate of AAA titles, yet he always played them and complained about how shallow they were. Yet, he vehemently disliked, and often ignored indie titles.

The irony.

Update

It's been a little while since the last update I posted in the thread, so I figured I'd update everyone as to where the VN is in terms of development~

Most of this month has been spent on outlining, writing and designing. The UI has gone through almost 25 different iterations if you count minor tweaks to the 6 different core designs I tried. Last week, I finally settled on the final UI core (which may still get some slight tweaks here and there) and introduced the menu system. Outlining currently sits at ~80%, with some loose ends that need figuring out. Writing wise, we're sitting at ~60% of the total script done in terms of content, but wordcount may vary.

I'm still using placeholder materials for portraits and backgrounds while I await word back from our awesome volunteers. I'm sorry it is taking so long, but they do great work and I hope you'll agree that the wait will make this slightly less of a horrible thing! That said, here's a little gif showing off the final UI and the in-game menu system, which is an analog for Zky-zky's fictional phone.

Also a reminder that there is a Steam Group where I post weekly updates to as we move forward. You'll even find myself, Se7enSword and sometimes others in the group chat! Sorry it's taking so long. <3
