Ori was so, so good. I'm happy for Moon Studios and can't wait to hear more about their next project.

I actually didn't know it was released on PC.

But I'd prefer to play it on Xbox One - of which I am supposedly ''notorious'' for not liking apparently.

Its a great game. I am about 10h into it (I like exploring and retracing steps after I obtain more abilities).

I'm curious to see how this game runs on low end gpu on pc or on Intel's processor gpu. You could always buy an Xbox 1 controller and play on PC if you choose.

According to Steam Spy:
Ori Owners: 137,995 ± 14,393
Hotline Miami 2 Owners: 206,209 ± 17,592
That's a really good number for a $20 2D platformer that didn't have any sales yet. Did it get good marketing? Not like it's a known IP or anything.

edit:
For comparison:
Rayman Origin Owners: 163,870 ± 15,683
Rayman Legends Owners: 144,660 ± 14,736

I am deeply sorry for insinuating that I was port begging, of which I genuinely wasn't.

Bish, have mercy.

Am guessing by your original post you were referring to their next title as per the thread title otherwise o_O.

Anyways always good to hear when devs are successful with well praised projects.

Yeah, "please release title on PS4" allows lots of interpretation.

Anyways, glad it was successful. Shout out to that dev saying indie titles don't sell well on XB1.

That statement was said as an assumption not fact.

Not bad. My guess for Xbox One numbers: 65-80k. Reasonable?

Who knows, but going by posts on Neogaf lots of people don't even know this game has a PC version, and the XBO version didn't have to go up against Cities Skylines, Hotline Miami 2 and Pillars of Eternity (all of which outsold Ori by a good margin). Could be more.

The game actually needs some decent hardware, that might be a problem. I'm sure it's possible, but it might look significantly worse.

To get it running at 1080/60, for sure. I think the 360 can handle 720/30 at least, and the animations are hard-locked at 30 in this game anyway, so even if the overall experience will be lessened, at least the odd contrast in frames won't manifest.

It was on the front Steam page every so often but I don't recall much other advertising besides the Steam news pop up.

Good to see some of the smaller teams get a big win. Need to check this game out soon, probably on Steam.

I wonder if Rare is working on anything 2D. Clearly there's a market for such projects.

Steverulez did some digging on Rare and it looks like they are using Unity for one of their games, so a 2D game is likely. Many are guessing it's Battletoads.

Great news! I haven't bought it yet but I plan to get the xbox one version soon. Looking forward to seeing what the next project is from them :)

That seems low. It's been high in the top sellers on the Xbox store so it could be higher than PC.

Is that based on leaderboard info?

It was purely a shot in the dark guess. I'm assuming indie games sell better on Steam than on Xbox.

It's Microsoft published and was pushed a lot on the Xbox storefront, though, so sales would be a lot higher than an ID@Xbox game that is just thrown on the store without much advertising.

I mean it's possible, but I have a feeling it sold better on XB1 than on Steam. Mainly due to less competition on XB1 and the fact MS has been pushing it hard as an XB1 game.

it was aight, sort of lost me in the middle there. felt like it coasted a bit on looks.
they hopefully can work out the kinks in the next one.

How big was the team initially? And aside from supporting the XBO/Steam version are they currently working on other ports?

Ori released into an extremely competitive environment on PC.

With Hotline Miami 2, Ori, Cities:Skylines, and Reign of Kings all releasing on essentially the same day.
All of those titles are sitting around 200,000 sales, with the exception of Cities:Skylines which is nearing 1,000,000.

Pretty respectable for Ori to do as well as it has on PC during that period. It was a hectic release schedule. I wonder how the XBO sales look but I'd imagine it's in a similar range. It got a good amount of marketing from MS respective to it's size and the good word of mouth kept it high up in the ratings/sales charts for some time after launch.

Always encouraging to see a great new IP do so well.

1) Port begging is banworthy, particularly if it is off-topic for a thread or derails a thread
2) Stop assuming that if someone isn't banned for something that it is allowed. It's FAR more likely that we just didn't see it. Do you see every post on GAF? No? Well, then, why do you expect us to?
3) If something bothers you, check this really cool link out. You can put a moderator's name into the recipient box and it will arrive in front of a mod just like magic. Report stuff you think is against the rules. Help us out.
4) Backseat modding is also against the rules. Derailing a thread with "OMG PORT BEGGING!!!!!!!!!" could lead to a ban as well. See #3 above.
