Call of Duty: Black Ops III Announced - 26th April Full Reveal

Thank you for not going back to WW2. I hope TreyArch sticks to the Black Ops formula where there's map control and not just hectic exo randomness. Can't wait.

For Advance Warfare which console has the biggest population, PS4 or Xbox One? I always pick up the newest CoD around Christmas to keep me entertained during the cold season.

I don't think there's any way to know active population? I don't believe Activision give those numbers.

I believe the Xbox One version sold more though.

Man reading all those comments, I think a lot of people are going to be in a huge shock for this game. Everyone is talking about "old school" COD stuff and comparing it to other COD games.

This is personal opinion, not "insider leak" anything, but I feel that this COD will be more different than any one prior to it in terms of gameplay. Maybe someone with some knowledge can shed a hint of light on that, but I think seasoned COD vets may be in for a bit of shell shock at the reveal.

Can you at least tell us why you think this?

IW is in a bad spot compared to the other teams. They released the first bad modern COD game. If they go forward with Ghosts 2, they are going forward with a tainted name. Even if Ghosts 2 was the best COD game ever made, it would still have lower sales because of the name. If they go with MW4 they are killing off the ability to work on anything else. They would be stuck with MW.

They've hired and rehired some good talent since the release of Ghost, which makes me think they may go somewhere new. They rehired Todd Alderman who was one of the lead designers for MW and MW2. They've also hired Jacob Minkoff who was the lead designer for The Last of Us. So with them on board i'd hope that they would let them go in their own direction rather than pushing them to try to fix Ghosts.

The zeitgeist 10 years ago created the desire for modern war games. 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq all sparked the imagination and made the success of modern era games possible. Now that modern war is showing itself as a muddled, bleak, confusing, horrifying mess people don't want to play games that depict what they see everyday or remember going so badly. Future war, at least least the way it's been done so far is just an extension of modern war, with all of the confusion and blurred lines that come with it.

World War II is a more pure conflict in people's minds. There was a distinct evil to be beated, clear lines of good and bad. That is much more psychologically palpable.
WWII was done to death from the 90s to mid 2000s. I wouldn't expect WWII to last long of it were to ever come back.

I imagine the trailer will be about the campaign and we'll have to wait until August to see the MP in action (as is tradition)

What I'm struggling to understand is how everyone seems to want to go back to the past, WWII specifically, when not even 10 years ago people couldn't have been more excited to be in modern day/future.
Well answer is simple, back then there were oversaturation of WWII games, people wanted something new. Now we are in the pinnacle of scifi shooters and people are ready for something new, so some want to go back into WWII. Last gen we didn't get that many WWII games and none this gen yet, so it would be fresh way to go, even though done to death years ago. In other words, people have had enough hiatus from WWII shooters.

Nah, I really don't want to risk companies coming after me. Honestly the tiny bit I teased is too much earlier.

Also the little intel I have on this game isn't much. It was mostly just a name with a few other clues. That statement is extrapolation based in part of what I personally believe this game will be. Let Activision / Treyarch have their big reveal and announcements thats not for me.

I bought both Ghosts and Advanced Warfare for PS4 but sold them both. Which platform has the most active and largest community these days? Is it still Xbox, or has it shifted toward PS4?

A lot of it comes down to map design. Without it the exos are just a dumb gimmick that cod players start to hate because with bad map design they make the game super random. Turns into straight run and gun instead of having choke points and your usual lanes/ conflict zones.

Doesnt help that it has bad net code so the weird boosting often jumps around in odd ways. Don't get me started about the sound design either. I don't want mw3 level sound whoring but any sense of positional audio on this game is gone. Mute is useless because you can't hear people anyways. a decent amount of useless perks and Exo abilities and weapons as well.

Don't really see. The point of even including launchers in aw. Unless you are shooting at a garbage player you ain't hitting shit. Lol

Being concerned over which one is the largest of the two is pointless, I believe, because they both sold so much and have such large communities.

Nah,you're looking too deep into reasoning when the actual or most popular reason(which I agree with) is the future CoD's have been shit.A little sprinkle of future tech here and there are not bad,but lately its been full retard with future tech and look no further than Exo suits. I wouldn't mind a modern CoD now,it doesn't have to be 2015 modern but like the other Black Ops were I like for it to be at least god damn believable. I mean really,Exo suits, invisible, hovering in mid air, etc? I tend to leave those to science fiction not modern warfare games lol.

So instead for hoping for innovation some hope to play something they were comfortable with a decade ago?
Well its between AW or Ghosts lol, I think most would agree with you on AW being the better game..
I just meant I wasn't a fan of Ghosts and before BO 2, i wasn't a fan of MW 3.

Haters be damned, I'm interested. I really enjoyed BO2's campaign and hope they go for the multiple endings again. Hopefully, we get some more cold war shenanigans.

There are 3x coordinates to Switzerland, Singapore and Egypt.

115.

Trident logo and a new one we haven't seen before.

Cuneiform writing that I can't read yet.

Treyarch doing us proud so far.

Ok no worries mate. Ill be honest, I dont mind any setting but I just dont like the Exo movement lol.

Id love a full CoD Zombies game though =)

I was hoping to see a leaderboard of unique player counts, but I have no clue how to access this information. I would believe that it is possible.

That might be it, but I also think they can innovate even when game takes place in past. And I do hope we get huge WWII fps this Gen, it just doesn't necessarily have to be CoD.

Well this was disappointing. I would have considered picking up a WaW2 as it looked like we might have got that from rumors. But we got another black ops instead. No thanks.

Battlefront only it is for me this year I guess for my shooter fix. Will be interesting to see if that game can finally topple CoD.

Yesssss. Treyarch with Black Ops has been lights out. Hopefully they bring back Reznov and a little more of the original BO1 feel (Cold War/Vietnam/WW2), and this game could easily be the best CoD.

Just keep everything on the ground please Treyarch.

I had no problems with 99% of Exo abilities in AW and loved the side dashing but the boost jump can go to fucking Hell.

That would be a horrible business decision if it was. Does it really matter though? I though AW was ported by a different team on last gen.

Treyarch is huge though so I wouldn't be surprised if they did their own ports like they did in the past for Wii. They would even port Infinity Ward's games for them.

Just keep everything on the ground please Treyarch.

yes please. Bring it back to the World at War/Black Ops 1 gunplay. Those games have the best maps out of any COD too IMO. They just didn't have the best netcode. Let Sledgehammer keep the futuristic schtick, they took Black Ops II and made it their own (not necessarily better, but hey).

The Xbox One version generally sells more in the US, but the PS4 version sells more in Europe, so that should give it the advantage given the PS4's advantage in that region.

It's going to be interesting to watch the fatigue sink in even further.

I'd be willing to bet almost anything COD will be up YoY this holiday. Unless the community really doesn't like the changes they implement or something.

I believe BO2 is the best selling COD? Either that or MW3

Not a chance worldwide.

Yeah you're probably right, honestly when I talk about sales its usually US focused. 'Murica

A WWII CoD on modern hardware could be a lot of fun. If they basically remaster the old games then fuck that.

I honestly think a lot of it is going to come down to movement. I know that there are some people that loved what AW did, but there are just so many more that got burned out on AW simply because of the added movement. Titanfall had the same issue. Fantastic experience... for about a week. Then it gets tiring and you go back to the old games.

I guess we'll see.
Pre-E3 announcements and what not in full swing now?
I thought the same, I thought the reveals usually happen late May?

Honestly, I don't see how much more you can do with WWII without making historical fiction.

I can't articulate why it is, but one of my biggest disappointments with recent CoD titles has been with the guns. If there's one reason I'm apprehensive about another future title, it's that the weapons included in Black Ops 2, Ghosts and Advanced Warfare just aren't as fun to use as modern day guns. I still have yet to find a suitable replacement for the M16, and all of the AK variants aren't as fun to use as the one from Black Ops 1. I'm hoping Treyarch will make guns fun again.

Map design could also use some tweaks, in my opinion, but I'd rather have better weapons first.
