Rumor: Mass Effect 4 details leak through survey

Good. This sounds like pretty much what I was hoping for with the exploration focus.

Now please put a lot of effort into the different planets and areas so it isn't all grim dark sameness.

I want lush planets dammit.

Game sounds fucking awesome, don't care what you weirdos say. Yeah, I could do without the meta-game crap but come on:

-Finding blueprints of alien technology to get better upgrades and weapons like jetpacks.
-7 crew members and the return of loyalty missions. Plus a Krogan returns to your crew. You can also have full customisation of their gear.
-Build and grow settlements.
-Seamless travel, you can pilot your own ship.
-You can take photos.

It sounds good so far.

I'm with you. I didn't realize that Dragon Age was so "controversial" in design. Heck, it was my number 3 game of 2014. Them improving on that design with the far more interesting (to me^^) Mass Effect universe sounds perfect.

I don't understand.... if we're in Andromeda to find a new home for humanity, why is there a Krogan there? Why would a Krogan be in another galaxy? Why would a Krogan help a human find a home for humanity?

I don't like that new galaxy stuff, i fear that the numbers of Turians, Salarians, Asaris, etc. are going to be very limited if they want to make this story believable.

Well the obvious answer is that the story wont be believable.

I want to believe.

Im not going to buy into the hype thought. I like the return to exploration, but how much of the game will ship? I have suspicion things might get cut for DLC. I'm still bitter about the series after the early buyout.

it of course, sounds promising.

Not really, I'm using "confirmed" liberally. People I trust were told by people they trust. It's enough for me to believe it, but I wouldn't swear on a witness stand or stake my reputation on it.
Fair enough.

Fwiw, I didn't care for shard collecting in DA:I, but missions like finding Fairel's tomb, lost Dirthamen temple and exploring the Temple of Emerald Knights were damn good.

Along the way, you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy. As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity.

Sounds horrible. So they are powerful and the key to power, mysterious and have mysteries, and their forgotten technology that holds the key is forgotten. Feel the power of the fan fiction.

I like how you can interpret an entire story in a 40+ hour game from just one paragraph. You're a genius.

I can just see it...

You found a way to travel to another galaxy on a remote, unhabited planet of the Milky Way that wasn't in the books. You get there and explore your first planet on foot... mysterious, beautiful, unlike anything you've seen in your own galaxy...when suddenly you hear noise behind a cliff, you look there carefully and... you see a base filled with Turians and Salarians!

Commander Tempest : "What the hell? What's going on? Why is there Turians and Salarians here?"
Turian captain : "Oh commander, nobody told you? This "remote and unhabited planet"(air quote similar to Turian Councilor in ME2) was know by all our top governments! There's plenty of all the Citadel races here, even Batarians and Vorchas found a way to get in this galaxy.
Commander Tempest 3 choices:
-That's great to hear
-Oh...they could have told me
-For fuck's sake!

Make more assumptions.

As in, I'm commenting on how horrible the paragraph sounds, and you feel the need to make a sarcastic post defending an entire game that has minimal information on it released. You're doing the same thing that got you so hot and bothered.

I mean as long as there are air quotes, all is forgiven.

Sounds awful to be honest. One of key points of original ME was that it was set in our galaxy on the stars with familiar names. There was Earth and Moon orbiting the Sun. And this - this is just some generic space game.

I wish they would just choose one of their endings and do the new ME in the same Milky Way galaxy.

And if they'll go for the DAI structure of "5 hous of story and 40 hours of meaningless filler" then I'll probably skip this one. As much as I love ME1, this just sounds like a really bad way to continue.

Why wouldn't there be a Krogan there?

I can imagine all the alien species from the Milky Way are exploring Andromeda too.

In fact, it would make very little sense for humanity to go on an extra-galactic exploration alone. It's probably a multi-species effort to some degree even if the survey info just mentions humankind.

Wait and see for me at E3. Some of the meta stuff does not sound all too interesting personally. Dragon Age had a bunch of filler nonsense and I hope this does not take a similar approach

Why all this hype? This sounds like just another mass effect. Apart from the Deployed Strike Team Missions (Hello, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood) and these Khet outposts (that don't sound very exciting at all) we had all these feature (partly with slightly different flavor) in previous installments.

It likely will be good but I don't think it will greatly exceed any previous Mass Effect...

This sounds pretty good for the most part.

I was kind of hoping we'd get to see the Citadel one last time (e.g. have the game start during ME3 timeframe, before departing on the "Pathfinder" missions and going into cryosleep for decades/centuries). But that's obviously no deal breaker.

The concern, as has been stated by many, is how much a bunch this stuff sounds like AC/MMO/DA:I grindfest busywork. Regardless, I'm there day zero.

Because some of us really really like the previous games?

This is like the First Contact Wars - second cycle, in Andromeda, with new races. Are the Krogans gonna be free from the Genophage? I hope so, as much I like Krogran teammates the thought of their unmitigated propagation in a new universe is exciting! What if we actually encounter a Rachni race, instead of its one last queen in a cage? Like an Alien thriller.

Not even playing - if the part with searching for minerals and being able to fly through space and land on 100 planets to explore with the Mako without loading screens is true, I might get a lil' hyped.

Those were the things that were partly in Mass Effect 1 that were the best thing about the series in my book. It would be amazing and really showing us fans love if they did that.

I'm working off what's said in the OP. If you know anything more please share.

Also the plot. This is an ME1 remake essentially, with Renants/Protheans and Reapers/Khet. What strikes me as an awful choice from the start is the idea to establish a new home in Andromeda - because Andromeda is the galaxy which is on a collision course with our Milky Way. One would think that establishing a new home outside of our galaxy which is on a collision course is a way to somewhat avoid that collision. But that would probably require too much thinking effort on part of Bioware's writers.

Just woke up. Sent some emails around. This is all accurate.

There will be blood.

I have mixed feelings about this, but to be honest it sounds pretty great. Mass Effect games were always a no-brainer buy for me and this might be one as well. Can't wait, when they go crazy with the reveals.

Colliding with the milky way is billions of years away and will unlikely have an effect on either galaxy.

Isn't that like 5 billion years away?

I'm sure living in Andromeda for thousands/millions of years wouldn't be too bad.

Sounds like Destiny with a story. Could be cool.
Destiny never ever sounded like that, no wonder people were disappointed with that game if you thought that.

I didn't read all of it, but I read the most important things to me

-Next Gen Krogans
-ME3 horde mode returning
-Scan and explore planets for resources
-Warlords of Draenor/garrison type missions in game

I expect the single player will have a good story etc, but there'd better be plenty of sexy Asari and angry Krogans too.
I really like those alien design and they will be sorely missed (in multi-player especially), if they arent included in the new game.

Yeah, the DA:I stuff concerns me a bit. I get that. What I don't get is the hatred/fear for new species. Maybe it's just the Internet doing what the Internet does, but let's have some faith here. When Mass Effect came out, none of us knew who the Salarians or Asari were, and yet we've come to love them. If Bioware wants to do all new races, go ahead. It's a new game, set in a new galaxy. The old trilogy is there to play if you want. Im ready to fall in love with a new Mass Effect trilogy (or stand alone game or whatever it will be).

We are so critical when studios pump out the same thing every few years and just slap a higher number of the series on the game; if this is all true, I applaud Bioware for doing a new story.

So you're conclusion should be that we're both making assumptions. You in ridiculing a game's story as 'fan fiction' from one paragraph and me in defending a game that has minimal information to begin with.

I'm sure they'll handle it realistically with small numbers of a handful of the races bei...

oh yeah I forgot they got that Halo 4 dude to be the leader writer of this game.
Uh oh

I'd just like it if the combat wasn't buggy shit. But then again, they thought dragon age inquisition was suitable for release so there probably isn't any hope in that regard.

Yeah well my sources just confirmed it was all fake and Mass Effect 4 has been cancelled because fuck you.

This definetly has me more interested and hyped than anything I heard about Mass Effect 3!

Finally a good Mass Effect again
