This really just goes to show how much Kojima has fucked with people's heads over all these years. Like, seriously, this is completely insane...but it's so insane that it just actually might be a thing...but there's no way. Absolutely no way...just a set of convenient coincidences. I mean, he would have to have planned this years in advance, this doctor guy has been writing papers since the 90s on this stuff, and the fact that the patient is a real guy with a horrible disease...they wouldn't go that far. Also why would they straight up trick all these news agencies. Sorry GAF, it's impossible...

...right?

Let's keep in mind that this is a real doctor, who has been saying this stuff for years and years and years.

He has published studies, is scientifically renowned, has been a public figure, relatively to his profession, both in Italy and internationally, even before his latest comments (that clearly skyrocketed his popularity).

You could even say that he courts publicity and seems to go out of his way to attract it, in Italy for example he didn't shy away from controversy with comments on public health, people in vegetative states, etc. And obviously for everyone who has seen his Ted Talk and later interviews, he isn't above some showmanship.

So, what we could be possibly looking at is some sort of cross-promotion, with Kojima volunteering his sick genius and marketing muscle and Canavero getting to express his ideas on the future of medicine to a wider audience.

Here's everthing so far:

Dr Sergio Canavero is a part of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group.

Procedure for the transplant named HEAVEN.

Person getting the transplant is a CG artist.

Head transplant in MGS V?

Sergio is doing a talk in Cyprus which is presumably where the hospital in MGS V is. It's a location in the game anyway according to PC files.

Has a scientific article named The “Gemini” spinal cord fusion protocol: Reloaded http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?linkname=pubmed_pmc_refs&from_uid=24244881

TED Limassol is an anagram for Solid Metals

The talk's partner is a gaming site who has an office in Cyprus: https://wargaming.com/en/about/our-locations/nicosia/

This is presumably the report: http://thejns.org/doi/pdf/10.3171/foc.1999.6.5.2 Titled Painful supernumerary phantom arm following motor cortex
stimulation for central poststroke pain.

Has a book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1503243222/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Some of these chapter titles sound familiar.

No, frothing like water that has become white. It can also mean "truly whitened with age", referring to someone's hair colour.

Do you know the last name of the American who "successfully" performed a head transplant on a monkey in the year of our Lord (Naked Snake) 1970?

White

We must follow the rabbit, and go deeper.
