Damn, this game is really dead then. Already griefed, so this doesn't surprise me. It just further confirms my theory of the game being dead.

Shame, it would've been amazing.

Are you serious? Show me one piece of official material stating that Kojima was directing it. I mean really, you think Kojima started directing Silent Hills last year, even though he was already directing MGSV? Let me guess, you're one of the people who think Kojima directed ZoE?

KojiPro was a big studio which had gradually merged together a lot of different Konami teams, including the remnants of Team Silent. My guess/hope has always been that they kinda reformed Team Silent within KojiPro and they were working on Silent Hills.

Pretty sure it was Kojima who said in a conference with Geoff Keighly that he wanted to direct a Silent Hill game (the one game he wanted to direct), and would do so if the president of Konami told him so. Not to mention that the game was in preproduction, and MGSV is in its final stages of development. We knew that the game was a long way off, so Kojima could have easily direct it.

And there's no need to be that hostile, man.

Guys guys I just got a great idea that will get us and this IP back on the radar

Okay so get this, let's announce that Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is collaborating on the vision of the next Silent Hill installment at the end of an incredibly freaky random playable teaser that gamers won't realize being a Silent Hill announcement until someone gets to the end of it

THEN let's allow them to get hyped and freak out about the potential of this project for months and months!

then we take it all away from them. In one fell swoop.

because fuck Silent Hill, and videogames.

and fuck you.

I don't even think they failed. I loved it. I just thought it's major shortcomings were on the technical side like the frame rate, textures, etc. Story wise I thought it was fantastic and the most interesting plot since 2. I thought the script and mostly everything was fine but Konami didn't give them the support they needed to really drive it all home.

I wouldn't go quite as far as to call it the best story since 2. The final boss and revelations were quite underwhelming, and the endings don't have nearly the same impact 2's had. Anne's motivations are just a mess, and knowing the truth doesn't help much either.

I really liked Downpour when I first played it. It was everything that was missing from Homecoming, but I think that was the problem. Looking back, I think I gave Downpour much more leeway than it probably deserved.

It did some great things, some interesting things (making you the Boogeyman was a great idea), but I wouldn't put it above 3 or Shattered Memories stories on closer examination.

See this is where I disagree personally, I thought the revelations and idea of the final boss were incredibly brilliant and very well woven into the story. I loved it. I didn't expect it, and it eluded all of my guesses as I was playing through it. The story between Murphy and Frank was great IMO and it explained why Anne had so much hatred toward Murphy, and I liked that nothing about it was one-dimensional thanks to Sewell and his sleaziness.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Never the less, it seems like it was the last true attempt we are gonna see for a while.

Next Silent Hill will probably be a pachinko game or something :/

Kojima's wanted to do a lot of things over the years, like leaving the Metal Gear series (x5), making a Wii exclusive and so on, and every time he's been dragged back to MG. If Konami hadn't stabbed him in the back, I doubt it would've been any different this time.

As for being hostile, he asked if I was being serious, so I got my back up. It may be silly but I'm tired of people attributing everything KojiPro related, like ZoE, to Kojima.

It's probably about all the worth that they see in it. Whatever, Bloodborne was the next Silent Hill 2 to me in terms of vision and depth, so that'll last me a while on an intellectual level.

Oh geez, now I really want a Demon's Souls Remaster on the PS4. It would be the perfect companion to Bloodborne.

If we ever get proper remasters of Silent Hill 2/3/whatever I'll eat my pizza hat.

I Platinum'd Bloodborne, yet reading up on the lore discussion has been eye-opening. It's so detailed and well thought out that it brings me back to like a decade ago when people used to meticulously comb through Silent Hill games for symbolism.

I mean, it only makes sense to kill a product that was universally hailed by so many and did something inventive. I mean, it makes total sense.

Goddamnit, I am getting a PS4 around E3. I have purchased PT via PlayStation Store on the web browser, will I be able to download it from history, or will the remove the files off the server for good and not just disable it for new purchasers? I am guessing the former. Sigh.

Wait, what the hell. It can still be downloaded from history even if it is delisted? Guess I am good to go then. Whopee

I think the files will remain on the servers....it just gets delisted from the Store page

That's how it's always worked before.

Hopefully it doesn't change, that would be a damn shame for people who haven't played it yet.

"Dad was such a drag...

Every day he’d eat the same kind of food, dress the same, sit in front of the same kind of games..

Yeah, he was just that kind of guy.

But then one day, he goes and kills us all!

He couldn’t even be original about the way he did it...

I’m not complaining... I was dying of boredom anyway

But guess what? I WILL be coming back, and I’m bringing my new toys with me."

If Kojima productions disappears from Konami I can't think of another game I will buy from them so I guess I can be bitter enough to say this: fuck you konami, fuck you for ruining one of the greatest franchises in the business and fuck you for ruining Silent Hills. Can't imagine another game I will buy from you after Kojima.

It should stay on your download list.

New Gaf petition to get PlayStation to buy the Silent Hills IP and hire Kojima to make the game happen ? Dammit we need to do this for Guillermo del Toro!

Sucks but all Kojima has to do is hit Kickstarter to fund a new Silent Hills-styled game. He doesn't even need it but I think he would do it just to be completely free of publisher interference.

This blows. The game is fantastic. Anyone who doesn't have it should grab it. I enjoyed it more than many of the $60 offerings being trotted out these days.

Trying to solve the mystery of P.T. with players around the world was one of the greatest gaming experiences I had last year... or any year, for that matter.

Nothing but bitterness towards Konami if true... and all signs point a bad ending for this once amazing franchise.

Totally agree. I would have felt a lot better paying $15-$20 for P.T. than I have after spending $60 for most of the AAA games I've played so far this gen.

Hopefully Kotaku or some other site has someone digging up the detail of what went down, this whole thing is so ridiculous.

While I personally didn't find PT scary I'd be lying if I didn't say it was a fantastic way to do survival horror and had me really excited for Silent Hills. Konami how could you? T_T

Did anyone figure out what you have to do exactly to complete
the final puzzle? Feels random as hell to me as to whether anything activates or not.
Was still a neat concept I think other studio's should try out in the future.

also obligatory 'fuck konami' post

Oh my fucking god...it was a prophecy

So amazingly frustrating. This is gonna be one of those "what could have been" things we'll forever be left wondering about which are the worst.

Man, I sure love this all digital world. Physical games suck. Kappa

P.T. is in many more hands than it would've been as a demo disc, and will be there for us to enjoy later on thanks to being digital so no worries of discs being scratched while sharing with other people or whatever. Part of what made the whole thing special was how it got delivered, would've lost part of it's luster any other way. So this proves there are some positives to DD IMO.

Well, it was never going to be deleted from my PS4 anyway.

P.T. has been a lot of fun for a lot of people I know offline. We had a group of people over last year for a party of sorts and had everyone pass the controller around each time they'd do an area. Everyone loved it. A lot of people I'd never see play a Silent Hill game. After finishing it, they were all excited to play the actual game. Going to be upset if it never happens.
