I'm confused why some people didn't understand this the moment Guillermo del Toro said so.

Like it was a pretty obvious follow-up to Konami already being cagey about the game and taking down the teaser and throwing out Kojima, since at that point pretty much everyone was already known to be out of the project.

Everyone's just waiting a final nail in the coffin, I think.

It looks like they're tripping over themselves trying to get out of (traditional) gaming. We'll probably see cash-in Metal Gear/PES games until their sales finally dry up and then Konami's effectively dead to us.

It had a friggin playable demo, that's more than 80% of games can say. Not to mention it was scarier and more disturbing than most recent horror games. Didn't look half bad visually, either.
