COMICS! |OT| April 2015. Everyone's burned out and looking for an excuse to quit.

Huh apparently the UK does have 0 tax on books, I had no idea. Now I'll definitely be buying from the US.

Thanks Mess I'm a big Selina fan but after Winnick I checked out of her book.

Check back in after Nocenti. I took the bullet for you guys. It's not worth it. Valentine's run this far has been the best the book has been. So much so I bought a page of the art from it.

Comixology is being a piece of shit today. It keeps crashing and refusing to delete books or download anything. Also tells me my copy of Batman 36 is missing from the server. Isak pls.

I just got Marvel unlimited and went head-first into Infinity Gauntlet, but it's a bit daunting. I feel like reading smaller stuff that's more personal.

Stuff I would like to read:
An Iron Man run about his ego and alcoholism.
An Ant-Man run that's about the character Ant-Man.
A Spider-Man run that's about Peter and his day to day struggle juggling his personal- and superhero-life.
Something interesting about The Punisher.

I'm really up for any character as long as the run is somewhat scaled back and more about an interesting character than a ludicrous and intergalactic event across several universes.

Read the first four issues of IDW Ghostbusters last night. Wasn't anything super amazing mindblowing, but it was definitely fun. Anyone know what this is actually taking as canon, btw? I've only ever actually seen the two movies, and those are at least definitely part of it. Looks like probably the most recent videogame as well, and that Infestation thing? Is like the cartoon or anything also canon? Not that it's a huge deal as I'm getting by fine without too much of a problem, just curious.

Also, this got me thinking: Is that Infestation stuff any good? I just kind of ignored it so far (as TMNT seems to have also done as it never comes up there). It's a giant IDW crossover thing, right?

Fraction's Invincible Iron Man run; Demon in a Bottle.

Ultimates covers Iron Man and Ant Man. I haven't read too much Ant Man, but Fraction's FF featured Scott Lang in a good capacity. It was strange, but a good run.

Ultimate Spider-Man. Basically the whole thing.

I know next to nothing about Punisher.

I just recently got into comics, but do the artstyles switch up in a series as often as they do in Ultimate Spider-Man? It seemed consistent in the first 60-70 but then it started switching up every 20-30 for unknown reasons. Is this normal? Why does it happen? Is it a choice they make?

It's a different Ant-Man than the ones that most people know, but Irredeemable Ant-Man is fun.

It's on a case-by-case basis. It's usually hard to find an entire run that has just one artist, since it's harder for artists to meet deadlines than it is for writers; sometimes they need a sub. Creators in general move around a lot, as well, to different projects. Ultimate Spider-Man was one of the longer single writer runs in recent memory, so that is actually out of the norm in itself.

Kind of like how David Aja did less and less Hawkeye as it went on and Annie Wu took over. She should get an Eisner for her part in Hawkeye imo.

If she had took over completely we wouldn't be like 4 issues into All New Hawkeye before Old Ass Hawkeye finishes. I love how she draws Kate.

I love as well Aja sure the 2019 wait will be worth it

I like seeing all the new faces in this thread.

Me too. But I feel so out of the loop now. Haha

Working 4-5 days a week at my second job is ruining my comics-reading life. Or at least that's the excuse I'll use. Not like my comics-reading life was in great shape at the beginning of this year when I was only working 20-30 hour weeks. Haha

What tablet did you end up getting?

Hi welcome to the thread! What books don't you read?

Thanks! Glad to be here!
I like not reading Hellboy and Morrison's Batman Absolute Editions the most. They look fantastic on my shelf. I'd hate to remove them from being on display.

Speaking of which, the one comics related thing I am keeping up on is updating my IST wishlist every week. By the time I get back to reading and buying comics more consistently, I'll have quite a bit of stuff to buy.

Filthy Slug

Crowd screaming like hounds at the heat of the chase/ All the colors of the rainbow flood my face
I thought someone mentioned it a couple of pages ago. Dial H hardcover is next week right?

WOAH. The China Mieville run that I fucking loved?

E; Yes! Everybody should try Dial H out. The deluxe edition is the entire story, and it's fucking wild and awesome.

Oh... Stephen. That's not cool :(

Everything dies

Edit: these issues with the "justice league" (they actually had a name but I forget what it was) were amazing. Hickman gives the big decision
to use the nuke
incredible gravitas even tho we are used to death being meaningless in comics. Great stuff, the man is truly a mad genius

The Great Society arc was so good. I loved the dichotomy between Marvel and Hickman's fake DC.

I'm getting pulled back into Star Wars again, so I picked up all of the issues of Darth Vader and Princess Leia. Darth Vader has been really good. I like that events are running pretty closely to the main Star Wars book. I find the evil C-3PO and R2 to be a little on the nose, but they are at least fun. The book is doing a good job of showing how cruel Vader can be with just enough hints of humanity to keep him from being irredeemable.

Princess Leia on the other hand has been pretty dull. I like the art. It is probably the most stylized of the three which I'm happy with. Sometimes in the main book, the artist tries to make the characters look too much like their actors putting it in uncanny valley territory. I'm having a hard time liking Evaan. Her reason for disliking Leia seems really weak. It feels really petty and forced, especially once Leia decides to find all of the remaining people from Alderaan.

Kanan The Last Padawan #1 was really good, big fan of the show so glad to see it getting fleshed out in other medium. Prepared for heartbreak next issue though. The art and colouring are really nice.

Just bought every issue of the new Ms Marvel on Comixology. Not having to make an hour round trip to the comic store is awesome but sore on the wallet.

Just this one issue. Hopefully the bad reviews will deter him from ever wanting to write again.

When I was talking to Patrick Gleason,, I mentioned I was looking forward to his new Batman robin book.
I told him I was really curious how the writing for it will be,, he said he is too, and sure lots of people are.
lol

Ooh sweet. That one's definitely getting added to my wishlist.
I love it when entire runs fit into reasonably-sized OHCs.

I disliked that
the fake Justice League jobbed so hard. We're supposed to believe that Dr. Strange could solo the Justice League? OK.

No.

You're supposed to believe that
Shuma Gorath + the avengers could solo the justice league, since that's essentially what it was.

Same way that Darkseid + JLA could most likely wipe out the avengers.

Wait what

Where did that great society page originate?

I don't exactly remember but I want to say the first issue of the arc.

I though it was tapered
by the fact that everyone but Strange was utterly outclassed with the exception of BP who was in a stalemate with fake-Batman. The Illuminati start to lose badly almost immediately. They only 'win' becasue they are less heroic than their counter-parts.

Aja confirmed that he'd finished the art and sent it off a month ago...

BC asked Breevort about it and he basically told them to fuck off or he'd push it back to October.

HeroComplex Gallery just put up their prints up for sale from their Age of Ultron show: http://hcgart.com/collections/avengers

I *think* I'm going to chip away at my trades backlog this Saturday when I line up for FCBD at my LCS. Shit's gonna be insane. Store owner says the first people that line up get there 5 hours before they open.

Yeah i saw Aja's tweet a few days ago about it. The Breevort thing is funny though, people are so sassy when they talk to Bleeding Cool I love it.

Read the first two issues of Ms Marvel and it's really fun.

You can tell he is a good story teller just by his art. Where a bunch of artist fail is scripting. The actual dialog between characters. I hope it's good.

I just read Convergence and it's still pretty mediocre. I would have dropped it if it was an event happening with the rest of the books coming out. But since a 2 month break, I will continue to get it.

Didnt recognized Green Lantern.

Welp. Saturday is New Avengers day. Still not sure if I should wait for the rest of the run and read everything then.
