What's this shit about Superman not being able to fly now? Why does DC ever think this is a good idea? It's like Spider-Man not being able to swing on webs.

Err...if it's what I think it is...he can now detonate the solar energy in his cells in the form of a solar flare...but it is leaves him drained for a week or so afterwards.

It's part of his new super power which is explained as a super flare. After he does it it renders him human for a day and his powers slowly come back so instead of flying, he jumps at first, etc.

Except he says in a recent issue that he can't fly anymore, like permanently. Sure it's from his new Super Saiyan God Form but It's dumb.

Read it. It is all explained and it's part of the fun of the story.

I mean, I did, but I got the impression that they still thought the club owner guy was attractive and stuff.
And past relationships didn't work sure, but it didn't seem like it was because they were with guys or anything.
I dunno.

Okay now I'm definitely done reading Ultimate Spider-Man, let's try and do a weird review thing.

Overall I really loved it, then again I have no point of reference since this is the first time I've read comics(not counting Donald Duck when I was little). It had a good balance of humorous and serious when it mattered, unsurprisingly tipping more towards the serious at the end.

What I did not expect(which I don't think is unique to Ultimate Spider-Man) is that very often storylines would start up and then never finished, instead continuing in other comics or something. Examples:
Jean DeWolff working for Fisk wasn't expanded on and she just disappeared.
Venom ate Carnage and got sucked up by that alien guy and they disappeared.
At one point Goblin apparently attacked the president.
Several more that I don't remember right now.
I wasn't sure whether they decided to just ignore those or I needed to read other comics to know what happened.

Out of all the arcs these were my favorite:
Legacy(the one with Goblin): Loved that they showed part of it from Goblin's perspective to make you understand how far gone he is.
Venom: Made me understand the character, tragic ending(
the issue with Venom's "death" was amazing with Peter's dad's monologue.
Hollywood(Doc Oc and the Spiderman movie)
Carnage(
I had a feeling Gwen was going to die but that was really ruthless, just one second and she's gone, I really liked the way it was done.
Hobgoblin: Especially the end of the issue in which MJ goes on a date with that random guy.
Warriors: Just amazing.
Silver Sable: That one issue in which they explained her origins.
The Clone Saga: I think my favorite one,
nobody died I think but at the end I really felt like the rules had changed(if that makes sense). I really thought everything was a weird dream when Peter's dad and Gwen came back, so it was so bizarre to find out it was all real. This arc does a good job of making you hate Otto too.
Ultimate Knights(or: Moon Knight is weird)
Death of a Goblin:
tragic ending
War of the Symbiotes:
Venom and Carnage are pretty scary since they have no emotions, they just murder. I was glad to get Gwen back even though I'm usually not a fan of resurrections, it had a decent explanation and it took like 60 issues so the impact of her death wasn't impacted.
Final arc(spoiler title)
Death of Spiderman
:
Not my favorite, but still good. Even though I spoiled myself accidentally before reading his death still depressed me a bit, felt like he(and MJ) deserved better than this life.

Favorite characters:
Gwen Stacy: Even though I like Emma Stone, the Gwen in the AMS movies never interested me at all. This one is written way better and I liked her more than MJ(but I still liked PeterxMJ more) overall, though MJ is likeable too.
Ben Urich: No explanation needed.
JJ Jameson: I didn't expect this character to be more than a caricature, but he's great.
Spider-Man: Duh
Norman Osborn: I hate him, but that means that they did a good job writing him,
that end with him showing a slight smile while dying made me fill with rage.
Kitty Pryde: Just liked her personality.
Probably forgot some.

Also you guys weren't kidding about the teen drama, there's so much teen drama. Why am I even spoilering this:
MJ > break-up > MJ > break-up > Kitty > MJ > For some reason Gwen > MJ. He was single for like 3 days throughout the entire thing. It actually really bothered me why they didn't explain why MJ broke up with him, like they didn't even know why and hung a lampshade over their inability to explain.

I probably forgot to mention a ton of things but it's a lot of stuff so forgive me.

I dunno.

It's still being dealt with at the moment. Both are terrified of labelling what it is or what they are.

Just ordered by second Funko. Yay!

:D I mean on american FCBD? Or does england has it own FCBD?

I'm sorry. What. Pls.

Here in the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND we have the same FCBD as the USA.

I am unable to attend and will have to wait for Comixology.

Who's going to see Age of Voltron tonight?

If it wasn't for Scarlet Bitch, I wouldn't give two fucks about this movie. Maybe one and one-quarter fucks. But not two. And certainly not five-out-of-five fucks.

I was legit sad after this one. Have the tpb on my shelf; sometimes I take it out just to look at the cover. It's simple. That's why I love it. The stuff with his funeral was pretty heavy as well. Kid asking to hug May :(

Btw, funny story;

My brother in law has two guys who like comics (me and his best friend) and a while back he brought back the Marvel Encyclopedia which I like a lot. So this week he came across a boxset containing origin stories for the X-Men, Spider-Man, Cap and Thor. He got all excited and decided to buy it. "More comics for those guys, they will like it for sure!" But when he brought them back home he discovered they weren't comics, but children's storybooks lol.

I really like the design. Give me a DC Direct statue and I'm fucking sold. It's gotta be coming, since they already have one of Arkham Knight himself up for pre-order.

Please. I will be right there with you. I love that new costume.

I am worried her bit in the new game is gonna be really small because Joker is gone :(

I sent Spike my Top 3 but then I just saw on the first post that voting is cancelled indefinitely. Shoot...

Sorry for the mailbox clutter, Spike-O.

To the Detective Chimp of Comic-GAF (that is to say, everyone)...

Where's the cheapest place I could get Hickman's FF Omnibus Vol 1?

The cheapest I can find is for £39ish on ForbiddenPlanet, but it's not held in stock so even you place an order no guarantees on you getting it or when. I obviously don't mind paying more but...figured I'd ask. I checked IST (no idea if they even do Int shipping, suppose they do?) but again, out of stock/unavailable.

Cheers!

Also is Secret Wars going to be weekly?

Edit: Also Hawkeye is charming as. So good. So far.

I just never read mine on time anymore. Reading comics yesterday was a fluke from Jem coming out. I just read the SpiderGwens today too finally. I'm trying to catch up during this crossover crap i guess

Weekly update: we're now up to Forever People #7 available digitally. We might get a complete digital Fourth World by the time the Darkseid War ends.

Yes, I know I always ramble about that but it still blows my mind that the best books ever published by DC aren't already available digitally.

Also, if we were to get Hickman Avengers omnibuses, I'd say:
- Vol 1: Avengers #1-13 and New Avengers #1-6.
- Infinity: AV #14-23, NA #7-12 and Infinity #1-6. (already out)
- Vol 3: AV #24-34 and NA #13-23
- Vol 4: AV #35-44 and NA #24-33.
There's also two annuals and Avengers 34.1 and 34.2 but they could fit a non-Hickman Companion book alongside Avengers World.
That would mean 20 issue volumes that would fit existing story arcs. Overall, there are 77 Hickman Avengers books, 83 if you count Infinity and 92 if you count Secret Wars. That's a lot of issues.

Edit: Secret Wars #1 and 2 release within a week but afterwards, it's monthly/bimonthly.

I don't think there's been an official month announced as to when it ends but it's supposed to go on for about 5 or 6 months.

Thanks...

Just checked and even though #1 and #2 come out a week apart it's 8 issues and lasts almost half a year >_>

Maybe they'll divide it by acts?
