Rare to announce new game at E3

Battletoads does nothing for me. I'd love to see Banjo, Kameo, Perfect Dark and/or Viva Pinata though. Or something new.

I'm proud that no one said "no one from old Rare is still there" a good 40+ posts in.

Can't wait to see what they have to show!

Edit* !$!#@$!$%% post 56....son of a..

Are we sure this isn't another Kinect game?

Isn't most of what made Rare good gone now? Why are people excited?

Setting aside some few vets remaining I wouldn't say it doesn't mean that new Rare can't prove themselves. The studio can still create visual, colorful marvels, and for what it's worth, Gregg Mayles is still in the fold as the last really "big" player, and that is a pretty big player when talking about game design.

But they have a pretty large hill to climb in order to prove that they still have the chops to make that well designed game.

I don't think we're every going to escape these posts :/

Seriously. It's ridiculous. There's still a few key members there and there's no reason to believe that their development staff isn't completely capable.

While Kinect Sports was... Well, Kinect sports, the games in that franchise were made impeccably in the limits of the hardware. Rare still has it, and Kameo/Viva Pinata help prove that. Banjo is such a tear down the middle because of the formula change, but the game suffered a lot by being in development hell for so long.

Don't bother announcing it if it isn't a new Viva Pinata game.

Man, a new Viva Pinata would be a total system seller for me, and i'm not even joking. I fucking loved the first game so much, lost the count of so many hours i invested into it, i just love micromanagement games. It's probably not going to happen on this E3, but man, i would lose my shit if it was.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

Think how pretty it would be, too.

We already got two Viva Piñata games (plus DS/Party Animals).

I'd be perfectly happy with a port of Trouble in Paradise, I can't say I really feel the for a third one, many other IPs (or new IPs) they would be better off making.

I liked pretty much all of their 360 games. Not sure why people seem to think they're shit devs when they put out a lot of quality titles last gen.

Last non kinect game was the excellent Nuts and Bolts right? There has been a large exodus of people since then so I was just wondering why people are getting on the hype train about an announcement from a company which is mostly just a name

Because the people that left aren't the only talented people in the industry?

Im less bothered about the name and just want good games. Also, if you read the entire conversation you'll see the game is Gregg Mayles project

Considering how great Microsoft has been with Rare IP since the X1 lanuch (Killer Instinct by Double Helx/Iron Galaxy at launch and beyond, Battletoads appearing in Shovel Knight as a killer boss fight, and the Project Spark guys doing a solid job with their recently released Conker episodic game), this doesn't shock me in the slightest :).

Due to all this recent Rare stuff, my bets for Rare's big E3 game is one of the following:
-Battletoads Reborn: Digital tittle on X1 and PC that is just as great as the old school tittles. Does a few things to modernize the series a bit (difficulty options, controller customization, ect) as well.
-New IP inspired by the Banjo series: Similar to Yooka-Layee, I could see Rare take what they did with Banjo but do something new with it while also paying homage to it in a few ways. This could also easily be Banjo as well, but considering how Playtonic is aware of Rare's future projects (one of which could be Banjo 3), I highly doubt they would have made Yooka-Layee if they knew a proper Banjo game is coming.
-Rebooting an older IP like Blast Corps, Jet Force, or something else.

@Steverulez @leflus All I can give here is a quote from the man himself "This is more fun than anything we've ever done."

Must be something different and not a platformer.

Considering most of the team that created BK and most of the Rare classics is gone, I just wish he'd join up with Playtonic

This pretty much, all the talented people have left.

Not that it matters as I was not going to get an xbone regardless if it turns out to be good or not.

Nuts and Bolts is a terrible game and I didn't care for their other titles.

It doesn't sound like they're working on Banjo. Here's hoping that it is something slightly similar though.

I hope they have contacted David Wise and Kev Bayliss if Rare or someone else is working on Battletoads.

Alright Steve, clearly it's time to post that list.

I'm gonna be sad because it might be something I really want, but I also really don't want to buy a XboxOne >.<
