Nice. Look forward to whatever data you come up with.

What rig are you running? Dual Titan X's I assume, since you're starting out at 4K Ultra @60fps?

I plan on playing at 4K Ultra @30fps with my SLI 970 FTWs. Should be doable judging by previous benchmarks unless I hit the ram budget wall. Any game so far that gets 60FPS on a single 980 at 1080p, the 970's in SLI can do in 4K, same settings at at least 30fps. I have yet to see an exception to this rule, hopefully Wild Hunt won't be the one to do it.

Yeah I have a dual titan X. Have you benchmarked GTA V? That is a little above 4 GB at 4K with everything maxed, except grass, and just FXAA. It's really the only game that seems to use all that RAM and not just cache them like ACU and COD. Cranking up AA takes it closer to 6 GB, though it's totally overkill at 4K.

Lol people playing this game so far really make the combat look awful. Rolling aroud for no goddamn reason.

Anyways, did Gamestar review the PS4 version? Thirst must be real.

Yeah Gamestar and Gamepro (They are basically the same company) reviewed the PS4 version.

So was the 2014(3) FOOT cg OR RUNNING ON REAL HARDWARE?

During Gamescom last year a PR guy from CDPR let it slip that one earlier build (I think it was the E3 2014 35-minute video) may have been running on a Titan. He made it seem like it definitely ran on real hardware, he just wasn't totally sure what real hardware.

I think that the PS4 version is looking really great - PC player here

Still no idea what the hell they were thinking with that single target Igni. Was it designed by a five year old? It looks like he's holding a spark fountain. It's so bad when juxtaposed against everything else.

Apparently, you can upgrade each ignis to make them more powerful and have better/bigger effects.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure what they are talking about has absolutely no impact on the aesthetic. The single target version will almost certainly always be that stupid spray. The other upgrades have to do with armor melting and area of effect (where it becomes more of a crescent wave). I'll happily eat crow, but I doubt it's going to happen.

Developer Insider: The Witcher 3 Was Downgraded From 2013 List of All Features Taken Out &Why

Wait, is that legit? If so holy molly.

I have no problem saying the game looks good (especially considering the console hardware) but that would be such a fucking downgrade. As in the Nvidia trailer would be just a fucking lie and their use of the Wild Hunt king burning scene in recent footage pretty deceiving.

Tell me this isn't true?

Don't understand Horizon Detail, why would that be an issue for them to just scale back on consoles and leave the higher amount available of PC's.

Probably because it would require every asset to be tweaked and that would take too much time. Again article said that we can take it with grain of salt.

This can't be for real. Flat out lying, in the face of the obvious is what makes you look bad.

It isn’t something a developer ever wants to admit to because it would make us look bad even if it is plain as day.

It would make us seem like we’re incapable and that next-gen is not as next-gen as people would think.

Because next-gen isn't as next-gen as what people were hoping. But hey, since it seems like this has become the norm, then a GTX 780 should be more than enough to run pretty much every multiplat game until the end of the current gen at 60fps. Guess that will save me $500 over the next nine years.

Oh I know, not claiming it as fact at all, just something that stuck out to me that didn't really fit with that statement. But I don't develop games so It could be as you say, or this article is BS. I've never heard of that site before, went in with a grain of salt, lol.

No I haven't, going to tripple dip on it eventually but seeing as I have barley scratched the Surface of the PS4 version, (Almost finished it on 360), I don't want to pay full price a third time, as tempting as it is if only to tool around with the settings and benches.

I have heard it is a beast though, especially the grass settings.

PC version is the real victim here.

This parity approach by CDPR, across all platforms, was terribly misguided.

I wouldn't say misguided as it makes tons of sense from a business standpoint. But it does suck for PC players. As we'll be getting the best version of the lowest common denominator. As opposed to an uncompromised vision.

I realize its unrealistic, but if it is downgraded that much, I really hope they do an Enhanced Edition on PC. Even though I couldn't run it with my 660ti, I feel like they would want to realize their "vision", but that's just the CDPR fanboy in me hoping.

Oh well, still going to enjoy me CE when it arrives next week

Sounds about rights; puts into words the downgrades many have noticed in this thread.

Feels good being vindicated.

I need to know if this is legit.

Not having the pc for test before the release date, wait for ultra settings to get a slap in the face comment, CDPR officials saying on their official forums that the SOD trailer can be recreated in the final game, etc... So much conflicting info.
If this is true, the backlash from pc gamers will be HUGE. I said before that CDPR could be the next Bioware but I sure as hell don't want it to be.

I don't understand why they insisted on having all 3 versions released at the same time.Wouldn't the load be easier for them just to work on each separately.

Is real time reflections on water that hard?

I remember way back in 1998 playing Myth II: Soulblighter (my favorite RTS game) and it had reflections on the water, it also had permanent gore and was one of hte first games to use physics for things, even the blood (which would roll down hill).

IF this report is true I hope they can patch back in the particles/reflections and at least give the pc players the tools to implement them or the option to.

Well shit. This sounds horrible but also sounds kind of legit.

For instance, we can see the volume based translucency in the current build, but it does look slightly lower fidelity/precision than the original demo.

Sad to see the forward lit particles and water simulation go though. But according to the .ini, water tessellation is still in... I guess this just means the stormy waters are out.

Shame really. Holding out hope for the Enhanced Edition to rectify some of this. Especially when the Wild Hunt sells like hotcakes, which it will, CDPR will have the resources to make amends, if they wish to.

It kind of gives you an idea on how underspecced the PS4 and Xbox One are when they're bottlenecking PC builds this early in the gen and it's only gonna get worse from here. Wonder why they didn't just release the PC version first, as far as I know the Witcher 2 port to the 360 was fairly competent and good looking, but done later so it didn't hinder PC development.

The migty dollah I presume

Not sure if legit.

Although....I got crucified and lampooned here on GAF when I posted this last year:

"We always want to provide the best possible experience to all our gamers regardless of the platform and so we are not aiming to develop special graphical features for any of them,” Balazs Torok, Lead Engine Programmer said to GamingBolt."

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=876515

Apparently, not "parity".... I don't know what to think anymore. Will wait for the 19th and see for myself.

wow. oh well :(

the point on 2013 version been a real and vertical slice is actually intresting, a vertical slice demo will show one location but Witcher 2013 showed many location so CDPR did make it really like that with all the higher quality assets and all that... then dropped everything and downgraded it.

This can't be for real. Flat out lying, in the face of the obvious is what makes you look bad.

It's really a shame since I think high end GPU on the market right now can handle Witcher 2013 easily.

really disappointed in CDPR.

having same assets and textures on all systems is kinda extreme situation, even Ubi games and DA:I got better assets on PC, CDPR seems to wanted to save money or something (then again they already put an effort for the 2013 assets just to not use it).

I honestly don't think this will end up being a big issue at all. The game on PS4 looks very good and when you factor in much better IQ and AA, it is going to look stunning. From the evidence, it definitely seems like it has been tuned down from that Sword of Destiny trailer, which always seems like an anomoly. Even having said that, this still looks like the best looking open world game yet released. I am at least happy that density of objects is still sky high. This is fantastic for an open world game.

From that link, and considering the game has some peformance issues on consoles, the 'original vision' probably would have given 'console-like' performance on PCs. You are still getting a stunning game which will run considerably better.

Yeah this whole "insider interview" reads just as if a random gaffer would write it, everything stated in the article are things people have already speculated on. Not one new bit of information that would lead a person to actually believe that some cdpr insider divulged this. Nor any evidence at all. Purely click bait article imo.

Why do any of you think they would re-release a special, PC specific version with new assets that don't currently exist after selling whatever they end up selling with the current version?

This is no different than thinking FROM was going to magically produce Dark Souls 2: Initial Trailer and Demo Version, instead of what they released...twice.

I don't think there'd be a big backlash because not many people know about the downgrade aside from active forum users.

Mr.Beanstairs.gif lol

This sure bodes well for Cyberpunk 2077 if true, considering the game is also slated for current gen consoles.

I don't think there'd be a big backlash because not many people know about the downgrade aside from active forum users.

I think most pc gamers will know what's up. Some are already fucking angsty about not having the pc versions reviewed early. You know there is some foul shit going on when even magazines like pc gamer are reviewing the the PS4 version...

Unfortunately we don't have anything better beside SS compassion for now. CDPR would never go public and admit if/that they downgraded game.

The re-release of Dark Souls 2 still doesn't have the lighting pre-downgrade.

Guys, I'd strongly advise to take that website with a humongous grain of salt. It's the kind of unverifiable rumor that gets people banned if they do it directly on GAF. It reads like it's specifically checking off every item in the list that would reinforce our worst fears. Classic rumor mongering technique. Don't let it get to you. We will have the facts soon enough.

Grain of salt or not, can any of these features be modded into the game? As in are modders able to actually re-implement this stuff somewhere down the line?

I know it shouldn't be like this but if our saviours can mod this stuff back in at a later date, then theres some hope for the future to get it close to what it looked like before. If not? Well shit.

Looking at the .ini files, we probably can.
At least we can hope.
