I wonder how many people stream these comparison videos to their 5" mobile screen then declare that there is no difference.

Currently downloading the original file and intend to watch on the 55" TV that I use for games.

Also, please consider others when you say stuff like "fuck resolution, my TV doesn't even support 1080p."

I can understand the worth in a console specific comparison, but why attack people who feel the differences don't amount to much when it comes to their purchasing decision? Those of you in here planning to get it on PS4 are basically doing the same thing but with regards to the PC version. If you're going to debate graphics then no other factors should apply. At the end of the day, whether you go PS4 or X1, you're getting an inferior product, all options considered.

The "my TV doesn't even support 1080p" piece of information is circumstantial. I would still prefer 720p/900p rock-solid 30fps over 1080p and 25fps even if I had a 55'' TV. Pretty sure low framerate feels even worse in bigger screens than mine (32'')

Both console versions are a good step above what I expected. XBO is almost exactly how I mentally envisioned the PS4 version before we got good footage of it. Good port job all around, especially considering it's their first open world/simultaneous multiplatform game.

Careful. I once got banned for suggesting console bickering is silly when a superior PC version exists.

Coming into a console comparison thread to drone on about the PC is pathetic, nevermind silly.

There are lots of console owners who are interested in which console delivers the best performance and what the differences are and who also couldn't give two fucks about PC gaming and PC performance. Fancy that.

D/k, looks like an early 360 game. Expected more considering the hype.

It looks so much better than Witcher 2 on 360, which was a late-cycle 2012 game that was considered to have incredible graphics for the 360 in its time. I'm playing it currently and the difference is truly night and day from last gen

That all depends on the user's rig. You might be able to run it at 4k, 60fps and ultra settings, but my PC struggles to run Witcher 2 at 1024x768, medium detail, and 20fps.

That's why PC comparisons are met with such hostility. Of course you'll get better results if you can afford to build a machine that can brute force it. That's not a viable option for a lot of us.

I think people have a distorted view of what past generation games looked like. As if their initial impressions never age, so how impressed they were at the time is at odds with the reality of graphics as they currently are.

Pretty much this. I've been buying games on PS4 over PC lately (like PCars) because my rig simply can't run them as well these days

The game has crashed on me a few times, but I assume this is an issue prevalent in both consoles since Gerstmann complained about it during the Bombcast. It enters a never-ending loading screen and I have to unplug my entire console to fix it (merely restarting the game makes it load eternally on the title screen).

Downloaded day 1 patch?

I'm all for buying the best version, but if you need digital foundry to put it under a microscope to see anything different...they are really close. I'm surprised Xb1 version holds up so well. The dynamic scaling techniqe is impressive.

Why when people say one version looks better, some take it as The other version looks like shit? Just because one looks better doesn't mean the other looks bad.

The only things I can tell is that PS4 looks very slightly darker in the opening shot and how the shadows are in different places in various parts of the video (probably having to do with those "lighting differences" mentioned in the Gamersyde post).

Look at the ground

XB1 Geralt is in shadow PS4 he isn't

Yeah, clouds in the sky are different. I think it's the dynamic weather.

I was thinking almost the exact same thing seconds before reading your post. I spent more than 2k over a few years building/upgrading a gaming PC about 10 years ago and I'll never do that again.

I got the Xbox One version over the PS4 version too. There are a lot of factors that played into that, the major one for me being .PNG captures and the fact that they're automatically uploaded so I can share them more easily in the photo thread. Others being my PS4 controller is wearing down (battery and physically) and I have eneloops for my Xbox controller.

You shouldn't have to explain, I don't get people that question why someone goes with the XB1 version of a game, and especially for this game where it looks identical to the naked eye, even while side by side, imagine a blind test with both shown separately, no one would get the versions right all the time, that's how close they are.

Panelo redeemed? One of the most graphically intense games of the mid generation and honestly there's no 30% difference to the naked eye, although maybe on paper, but who cares about paper. Hats off the CDPR, a perfect port considering the platform differences with no perceived compromises imho.

All I see is downgrades.

Same, it is what it is though.
Though the experience should still be the same, it's just unfortunate that it looks like this now.
Good job on CDPR with porting the game and releasing it on 3 platforms simultaneously.

Please don't do this.

Well said. We all know the PC version looks better but that is not our concern or focus. Stay on topic.

That's two times I've read in this thread someone making a naked eye comparison vs actual measured performance and stating that this makes the differences negligible.

PS4 is native 1080p all the time, and reportedly has a more consistent FR. Can someone remind me how many extra pixels that is every frame?

Ah, t'was humour.

Not here to shit on the game or anything of sorts, it's just not the same as when they initially showed it at E3 during the XBox conference.

I was totally blown away with how it looked, the color scheme it had going, the videlity.
Now it just looks "off" to me.

I'm sure the game still plays great and that aspect wasn't affected, but graphically idk it just doesn't do it for me (honest opinion, even at 4k/maxed out).

turn the saturation down on your tv? I like the colors.

Could notice a difference in backgrounds and ground textures. PS4 has a slight edge.

But honestly, they both look great.

Insider: Witcher 3 looks better on x1. These images hitting the net are not aspects of final game. Take close look at the text and corners the person who uploaded them have used compression. The game is not blurry.

Misterx:Yep, thouse liars...

Pure comedy gold right here.

he's talking about assets and he's right.. it looks virtually identical.. you would not be able to tell the difference on screenshots alone.

Parity is just not assets, assets are always the same. He is ignoring the frame rate and resolution and calling it a draw.

i switch between PS4 and PS3 and honestly it's not anywhere near night and day for me.. most PS4 games barely look like what i once hoped PS3 games would look like. if that makes sense. i just don't see a generational jump. still got the jaggies and the clipping and the bad physics and the stuttering and the occasional PS1 level textures and sprite trees and wooden animations and characters whose mouths don't move when they speak etc etc.

I'm glad I'm able to provide some entertainment =p

The Panelo part is a joke obviously. CDPR did an amazing port, no platform was compromised to cater to a lower common, all versions look their best on their respective platform is what I meant.
