You will be able to use PS3 sticks on PS4 for Ultra Street Fighter 4

The big update: Ultra Street Fighter IV will support PS4 FightSticks, of course. But we’ve also included Lab Zero’s drivers so that USFIV will support licensed PS3 FightSticks as well. For more details on how this will work, please check the Capcom Unity or Lab Zero sites after the game launches on May 26.

Other reminders:

Ultra SFIV on PS4 will be running at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second for all your fighting glory.
The PS4 version of USFIV will also include all DLC launched up to this point, including the most recent Vacation and Wild costume packs.
A few of you hardcore Street Fighters out there said that there was minor input lag in the controls of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS3. Well, don’t worry: We’ve eliminated it to make the PS4 edition the ultimate version on any platform!
The price is $24.99.

That's great news. Sealed a purchase on my part. Time to get back into SF until I once again realize I'll never be good at fighting games and go back to just watching Gootecks and Mike Ross every week.

Excellent. I was getting really worried about that, hell I might pick it up myself now. Hope this is a standard for PS4 fighting games now, after Skullgirls releases with it and almost certainly SF5 includes it, you're going to be the odd man out excluding PS3 sticks.

If they offered a configuration setting to re-enable INDESTRUCTIBLE instead of the Super updated stuff I'd buy this 10 times over.

i wouldn't be too sure on the SFV part, madcatz does have to sell SFV sticks.. so don't count on it.

People said the same about this game though. It's going to be a way rougher sell for Capcom to say "sorry you need to upgrade your sticks" when SF4 on the same platform supports them vs just saying "sorry PS4 doesn't let us do that *nervous chuckle*".

Everyone, buy Skullgirls on PS4 to show your support for Lab Zero. And buy this port of USF4 to show Capcom that we appreciate them listening to our feedback on arcade stick compatibility.

Capcom basically backed themselves into a corner for this though. Putting the driver on SF4 but not on 5 would be a much bigger dick move than never supporting older sticks in the first place

The only reason why this came to life imo of course, is because of the evo partnership with sony. Plus the game is old, so idk how madcatz and capcom gonna sort this thing out. Unless madcatz starts selling exclusive drivers cause i'm sure madcatz got dibs on SFV sticks/pads... This is bad business for madcatz though.

Great news.

Just hope they remembered to turn on the anisotropic filtering so the ground doesn't look like a blurry mess.

So is it possible for someone to write a driver to support PS3 driving wheels?

Glad to see Capcom make the right call there. Seems like they are doing right by the players. I could have seen them instead deciding to not have legacy support for old sticks, in order to sell more new PS4 sticks. But letting people use the stick they may already own will encourage more people to buy the game in the first place.

I'd say fighting tournaments & fighting game community would probably stick to other versions of the game if it meant better fighting stick compatibility. But getting as much of their existing community onto PS4 as possible is a sensible long term play, for SF5 and such.

Also: Lab Zero seem like a classy outfit.

As I said in the other thread, this was the determining factor as to whether or not I'll buy USF4 for the third time (I don't even want to think about how many times I purchased AE...).

Same conditions for SF5. If they don't support PS3 sticks then I'll buy that game on PC.

On that note, I'm glad to have triple-dipped on Skullgirls. THANK YOU LAB ZERO. <3 <3 <3 I know you're reading this.

Edit: Phew. Glad the Qanba Q4 works which means that my Eightarc Fusion should also work.

More so given that EVO will be using the PS4 version of USF4, so Capcom likely wanted to make the transition as painless as possible (kinda hard to when the last EVO standard was 360, but it helps).
I know I'm now gonna buy this Day 1 because of the news, I have an Eightarc Onyx that needs some love.

Anyone have conclusive proof as to whether the Qanba Q4 works with the LabZero driver? If so: sold!
Lab Zero already tested that. It works, no worries.

As someone shit at fighting games can I get on OK with just my PS4 controller or is a fight stick necessary?

I never got this on PS4 but love the old games so would like to give it a go.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't play with a PS4 controller. It's definitely not ideal though.

Maybe try a fightpad instead if you don't want to invest in a stick :)

Many top players are pad warriors. Just play with whatever you're comfortable with.
