E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

At the moment, what are the odds that we will see a new entry in the Resident Evil series this year? It really seems like Capcom has been pushing the series lately with the releases of REmake HD and Revelaitons 2 in addition to the recent reveal of Zero HD as well as RE5 Gold edition for the PC in addition to a plethora of PSN sales.

Possible, but I think it's going to be next year. :/

Why are you hopeful for it?
I really don't think we'll see it this E3, especially as they haven't even said anything about resuming work on it.

I also don't think we'll see a Resident Evil 7.

[edit] Oh, you edited.

I'm sort of hoping Nintendo partner with Sega for another exclusive game but this time it's Super Monkey Ball 3

I'd be happy if any company partnered with Sega for an exclusive game which was Super Monkey Ball 3

Not beyond the realm of possibility that a small teaser for Resident Evil 7 surfaces before a more formal reveal at Tokyo Game Show. Knowing Capcom, though, they'll dismantle the renewed vigor for the series in one fell boulder-punching swoop.

I don't get the Banjo hopes and dreams. Didn't Playtonic staff leave Rare to be able to make a platformer? How would a Banjo game being greenlit after the exodus make sense?

By it not being as good as you are hoping.

Come on, none of this means that new guys can't or don't know how to make a platformer.

I think Kagari suggested it.

It comes down to a lot of things - one of which includes a MS policy which requires a high minimum print order for any disc title. It was in place last generation as well, which is why you saw a lot of smaller publishers absent.

Type-0 HD on XB1 sold less than the requirement in the US so SE probably wasn't too happy about that.

Didn't that staff leave Rare years ago.
Two of the guys at Playtonic left Rare a long time ago.
Three of them were laid off from Rare in may 2014 (unless the reports back then were wrong? might have been voluntary layoffs, of course)
One of them left Rare in october 2014.

Edit: I doubt that we'll see Banjo at E3 tbh. We're getting Yooka-Laylee, and I'm fine with that.

Witcher 3 and State of Decay currently and Batman next month. The only reason I got Batman on Xbox One was because I wanted the limited edition and Amazon only had it left on Xbox One :p So my PS4 is becoming a dust collector :p

I'm sure your Xbone is also collecting dust, likely at the same rate as the PS4.

But for real, I thought I had maybe missed something that came out on the bone that had everyone playing it. Microsoft needs to release some bloody games. This two month window shit makes me groan.

I really feat TR is getting lost in the shuffle this holiday. Way too many high profile games coming out at that time and it being sold on one platform I jut don't know.

I think it will disappoint. That feeling comes from the cross gen aspect as well as the platform limitation. Bundles should help, though.

I'm not convinced this was a smart decision.

Im looking forwardo to see how many copies Final Fantasy XV will sell on Xbox One, cuz people keep asking Phil Spencer for JRPG's on XOne.

This is what Tri-Ace said

Why were PS4 and PS3 chosen as the hardware?

Kobayashi: “We thought about what hardware older Star Ocean fans played the most, and decided on PlayStation. Our choice of PlayStation 4 and PS3 specifically had less to do with wanting to stick to home consoles, per se, as much as just wanting this game to have as wide a reach as possible among those longtime fans.”

It's the same conclusion that Baba and NAMCO came to with the Tales series. Tales fans = Playstation owner.

I'm still laughing about that Silent Hill "rumor". It's so bad that it's like one of those old playground rumors.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but Naughty Dog is organized into two teams, right? Are they currently pouring all of their resources into Uncharted 4 (which wouldn't surprise me)? If the other team is currently preparing something, I wonder how far along it is at this point and whether or not it's a new IP.

They had 50 people working on another game about 6 months ago.

Entertaining that ridiculous rumour for a moment here, if Microsoft did somehow obtain Silent Hills as an Xbone exclusive, the meltdowns would be off the muthafukkin' charts. A certifiable shitstorm on the scale of the FFXIII betrayalthon. It'd be pretty funny.

They have two teams. But we aren't sure how big the second team is. It exists and Evan Wells (ND's co-president) has confirmed that they're working on a game of the scale of Uncharted.

What rumour?

It's some rumor from "The Know", which is a new channel by former Machinima guys. The rumor claims that MS is going to buy the Silent Hill IP. But this is the good part

- Silent Hills was 80% complete
- Konami removed P.T. from PSN because of the buyout
- This is the best part...the deal is in the billions. Yes that's meant to be a B.

I'm still not sure why it is so outrageous to believe MS bought the Silent Hills IP.
It's not an outrageous thought to think they would buy something like that. But not for "billions", not in a million years. And for a game that a month ago was described as being in pre-production, at best, is now going to come out in 9 months? Come on now.

For a price "in the billions"? Not in even in my restless dreams do I see THAT town.

Just because the rumor is packaged in hyperbole doesn't mean the core of it can't be true.

I don't find it that hard to believe that MS bought the IP and reworks the existing assets into a xbox exclusive

The Last Guardian and a Crash Bandicoot reboot would be the only possible countermeasure.

The game being 80% complete is hilarious when all the information we have from Kojima and Del Toro indicates the game was barely in preproduction.

There are no existing assets. The game hadn't begun. P.T. is all there ever was.

Some video claimed through 'unnamed sources' that Microsoft was in the process of buying Silent Hills as an Xbox One exclusive with a view of possibly debuting the news at E3. It also claimed the game was bloody 80% done, ha!
