505 is reinforcing that the Payday 2 Crimewave Edition(PS4 and XB1 port) will receive extensive post launch support with free and paid dlc. It will contain every dlc and update up to Jan 2014, with the Jacket character pack added free post launch. It was previously only available on PC by buying Hotline Miami 2.

PAYDAY 2: Crimewave Edition contains no less than 52 post-launch updates, jammed right into the box. Additional updates are to come post-launch. How about Jacket, the famous sociopath from hit game Hotline Miami, released in update 56? While he's not available at release, he'll be added as a part of a future update, free of charge. Regardless of whether you're played PAYDAY 2 or Hotline Miami before. Jacket will be coming to consoles as a playable character in a future post-launch update for PAYDAY 2: Crimewave Edition.

Given their history with supporting console version of their games, I'll wait to see if they do actually support it, instead of just releasing an updated version on newer systems. The rate at which they throw out DLC means I have little confidence the PS4 version will ever be up to date.

Well it comes with a lot of the previous updates already, so that is promising.
But yeah last gen versions were pretty much abandoned by the devs, not sure I want to support them because of that :-/

On a side note, does anyone know if they ever make it enjoyable to play with bots?

Given they have said two more years of content, that means at best waiting for 'chunks' of content to be delivered console side - as they are not going to pay every time a new update comes out - or just not deliver it at all. The nature of patches and DLC on consoles makes it a more difficult and expensive prospect than PC, almost impossibly so.

Bots will never be useable beyond easy and normal heists. 'Fun' is another matter, some people have fun failing because they use bots :p

They updated the game with 2 massive patches, and added 3 pieces of dlc. I'm not sure what more could really be expected from them honestly. It never launched with the promise of future content either that I'm aware of.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be skeptical of future content. They haven't given good reason not to be skeptical. Personally speaking, this is launching with so much that it doesn't really matter. I'm not paying for future support. I'm paying for the content on disk.

3 were added. There are 23 available on Steam. I would expect them to either:

a) Slow down the pace at which they are churning out new solo DLC's. Pack them together, charge more, then you have a better way to update the console versions.

b) Not have a need to promise to support a console version of the same game. With other developers, it's a given that games across platforms are supported equally with new content. There are very few games that don't do this, and I would think most of them are on the WiiU. A dead platform. Even when DLC content was not being put out like a dog on heat, like with the first Payday on consoles, they still never added considerable changes to the game, such as overdrill, though obviously the missing heist is understandable.

I was like the biggest Payday fan. I gold masked on both PC and PS3 versions of the first game, but the second has just been really poorly handled, and their console support has been shambolic at best. My concern is that this version will never see proper support either, which is a huge problem with PD2 because of it's nature.

If you are happy to buy the game on the content given, that's perfectly cool. I just don't want to buy the game for a third time only to end up back on PC buying DLC 505 because they don't bother with the console version again. I would rather play it on console than PC, but not at the price of half the game missing.

Updates since Jan is still missing a lot. That's six paid dlc and some significant free dlc on top of that. The PC version recently got some new reload animations, will the console versions have them? Plus there are recent mechanic changes like the exp system being tied to objectives rather than just completing the heist or fixing detection in stealth for clients. I don't see how Overkill can keep all three going for another 2 years, even with LGL helping on the side.

It's not going to be good with bots. They can't do objectives or even carry bags and that's most of the game. They've even actively worked against solo stealth with new heists and updates, which is fair because it's not a single player game.
