Real talk, I still listen to this whenever I need inspiration/motivation. Just the best <3

Vash the Stampede represents everything I hate about anime. Character is just lame as fuck. I get the character's shtick, but I hate it.

I remember this character being so popular in the early 2000's, but I can't stand him. What a spineless crybaby he was. If he had a chance to go back in time and kill Hitler, I know he wouldn't do it just because he doesn't want the blood on his hands even though it would save millions of lives. The only thing he has going for him is his name, which even I think is cool. But I despise him as a "hero".

Why not a PS4? Persona 5 will be on it. Plenty of new fighters with active scenes on it, and more to come.

I mean yeah PS3 is cheaper sure, but PS4 would've let you hit up Xrd too, MKX, Persona 5, and a slew of other games on the horizon like Street Fighter 5.

I had a PS4, got rid of it. Simply isn't anywhere near enough exclusive games for it. Bloodborne was fun, though.

SFV is PC for me. Will pick up MKX eventually cheap as hell on PC.

Speaking of Vash the Stampede, I might throw out Gungrave as an anime to be aware of which is written by the same author as Trigun. Aside from the heavy gunplay they aren't really alike, I just thought Gungrave was great. I will say that you should skip the 1st episode, or at least be aware is very different in tone from most of the show. The show also has supernatural elements that come into play, especially in the last arc, but most of the show is a mafia story and I thought it was great. I've also been enjoying Blood Blockade Battlefront (another show by the author of Trigun) which is basically the misadventures of a paranormal taskforce in a supernatural New York (and when I say New York I MEAN New York - these animators did their research). Nothing mind blowing but highly enjoyable.

Anyone else hype for the Smash Direct? :-D

I'm curious about the Smash Direct. 20 minutes isn't that much time but on the other hand its way more time than one should need to say "Lucas and the Mii-verse stage are out, enjoy!". Ryu himself also seems like something you'd save for E3 proper.

What is expected out of the Smash Direct? More DLC? Another character?

*edit*

Oh, seems like no one has a clue.

Yeah, the character is nothing but a tease, given his name and aesthetic. There's no subtlety to his shtick - it's just blunt edged stupidity through and through, and terrible dubs to boot. Ugh.

oof

Yeah, these were transcendent.

Got rekt by a 3k deejay online

Next (ranked) match was another, different, 3k Deejay

Raged at the heavens for delivering me this goddamn annoying character

Somehow destroyed him by just using walk forward cr. mk. and then switching to kara throw

I don't remember anything from 3+ years ago but the first time I saw that promo after like 10 years it hit me hard. It's so damn good.

Vash's whole thing is that almost American Superhero-comic like devotion to his ideal of never taking a life, even at absolutely horrendous personal cost to himself and ultimately his loved ones. He's a tragic dude. He only gets by as well as he does (hah!) because he's super-human and was able to train himself to pull off those stunts. Even the ending of the show, as upbeat as it tries to be, carries that sense of "but do you really think you can make a lasting change that way? Do you really think you can change someone so totally unable to emphasize with others?"

We know it's probably not gonna work out, Vash knows it's probably not gonna work out, but he just can't live his life any other way. He's a hero, but he's a pretty miserable one.

...Look, I have a lot of good memories of that dumb show.

I've usually heard good things about it, but I don't think i can handle a hero so pacifistic in those circumstances, lol.

If you can handle Batman, you can handle Vash.

I can't handle Batman tho.

Unless it's the Arkham Games, or for a short arc. Or it's someone not horribly horrendous as the villain I guess. Or maybe it's just better to say, I'm tired of that particular trope.

Vash is a more adult non-lethal hero style story The beginning it's like, ho hum looks like he saved the day and not take a life, and then it just bites him in ass more and more as the show goes on to the point where you think it's annoying or selfish and then you may or may not sympathize with him at the end.

I wonder how XB1 guys feel then lol.

My PS4 has gotten me a ton of mileage since my gaming PC is waaaay out of date now.

The Order 1886
BloodBorne
DriveClub
Infamous Second Son
Killzone Shadow Fall
Last of Us Remastered ( Missed out on PS3 version)
Helldivers
Resogun

Then the tons of multiplatforms that are better on PS4 for various reasons. Most of which is that 1080P juice and frame rate possible, or exclusive content ALA Destiny.

However, if you missed out on the PS3 altogether then you have quite the extensive library of things you can get in on. Last of Us is there too, Uncharted series, (Although the remaster collection is now a thing on PS4 hmm) Killzone games, Infamous games, Ratchet and Clank games, God of War 3, and the list could go on and on.

Either way is a solid purchase. My only regret purchase was falling for XB1 hype when Halo MCC was dropping. I figured how could they screw that up? Oh lord... Sunset Overdrive wasn't my cup of tea, and Killer Instinct is amazing, but not enough for me to hold onto a console.

I need another Wii U come Christmas or my birthday next year in February. Smash, Zelda, Starfox, and more. Hope we get a Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2 at E3. Just blindsight everyone.

"Love and Peace."
RUV and peace, sir.

Ah, I dig. I found it acceptable with Vash because his moral code leads to some hilarious "victories". It isn't as moralistic as Batman, it's more about Vash having issues because he has destroyed a city or two on accident in the past, haha.

Yeah, like he chooses not to kill a few bad guys, then he later finds them crucified in the middle of town.

I also liked that the show had a prevailing discussion behind whether Vash's perspective made sense. The "bad guys" argue that they are like spiders, and normal people are butterflies. Vash doesn't want to kill the spiders, he just wants to save all the butterflies. But spiders need to eat; if Vash saves all the butterflies, then the spiders starve. He's just killing the spiders by a crueler means to make himself feel better.

I remember that discussion had a pretty big impact on my life perspective in high school.

I see there's a lot of loyal toonami fans in here, respect points through the roof. Stuff was what my childhood was made out of. Sadly some of the dubs were kinda bad lol

"Love and Peace."

Incorrect.

Its:

RUV AND PEACE!

Although I haven't finished the show, like 5 episodes left, I think Vash and the other guy are two sides of the same coin and that delicate balance between frolicking in your own idealist notions of no violence and exaggerating the "survival of the fittest" by killing everything in your path motto for both of the characters was the main point behind it. Its sort of worked as a parable in that you need a balance between the two if you want to achieve a goal/answer. I'll have to reserve that judgement though to until I finish the show.

I can't handle Batman tho.

I want Batman to actually look cool in a fighting game for once ;_;

Luffy and Boa best anime couple.
This is contrary to what you said months ago about Ranma and Akane being the best. You were right before.

Also it seems I've won some passes to E3 through shoryuken although they've yet to message me. Here hoping I can figure out my finances to actually go.

Toonami was the shit, too bad I couldn't watch it most of the time.

Same here, those midnight shows always got me scoldings from my parents lol

What would he have to be like to look cool

Be fluid as fuck. Dude learned martial arts to the brink of death, he needs to move fluidly in an FG.

Best couple is Gon and Killua anyway.

nah chill homie, its all about Okarin X Kurisu

Nothing beats this Doom vs Wesker Rap battle.

i still listen to this shit on the train, its dope as fuck lol

On the topic of Trigun, it was originally a manga. There was a sequel manga that finally ended 2008 or so.

If anyone wanted more Trigun, check it out.

The author is doing Kekkai Sensen which got an anime recently.

That would be helpful. However, I play on PS3 and I'm not sure how to hook a mic up, I can't find a mic jack anywhere.

lau's strengths-
guard break (beats fuzzy guard, 46P guaranteed after, 3P+K launch guaranteed on sideturned)
3PPK is a good string, should hitconfirm after first hit, disadvantageous even on last hit so fuzzy after
pretty good throws (214 for guaranteed 6PP into kokei mixup, 46 for dmg, 6 for wall dmg, neutral for ringouts - even when broken!)
good half circulars (46P+K guarantees 46P combo on CH and is -5 on guard, KK is +3 on guard <<but high, high>>, 4P confirms to K into kokei, 66P+K is mid half circ and only sort of shitty on guard)
great 6P
KOKEI! (mostly safe mid launcher, circular that leads to backturned mixup, guard break, mid that causes a crumple on sideturned CH... really good stance!) - use 6PP <<hit confirm pls>>, 4P+KP, 3KP <<vs crouch, hit confirm>> and 4PK <<pls hitconfirm>> to enter kokei

lau's weaknesses-
imo worst PK string in the game, literally only useful for punishing as it is -9 on guard
no fast mid launcher (many characters have a 17f big gamble launcher, lau's 3P+K is a bit slower)
sort of bland

Is this anime weekly?

I could use a Darker Than Black fighting game. I just got done watching all of it after sitting on it forever. Really enjoyed it. I want a Season 3.

i forgot that K+G is like +3 on ST guard for some reason and puts you in kokei, so obv that's really good but it's high

It's honestly a problem with Batman in a lot of mediums, they never really do action scenes well, the Nolan films are basically comedy when it comes to fight scenes. Though you did remind me that a while ago, DC studios commissioned shorts different animation studios from around the world. This was Shanghai Batman

Probably late for the anime talk, but if you wanted something surreal, anime by Satoshi Kon is worth a watch. It's definitely not for everyone, especially since most recommendations in this thread are shonen and this is the complete opposite. Perfect Blue is a movie, so if you have 2 hours you can see if you like his style, then maybe try to watch the Paranoia Agent series.

Back on fighting games, I really feel the crunch time atm. I plan to play a lot of games in the main tournaments, I obviously will play to win even though my experience in some games aren't too hot, like Smash 4, but I'm really looking forward to the side tournaments, since I heard that people will run some Vsav and +R there.

Oh yea, I entered Tekken 7, I don't even know how I can practice that besides trying to brush up on my backdashes on an ps2 emulator in T5. I don't even have TTT2 anymore since I moved lol.

Is Season 2 really worth watching? It felt as unwelcome as Deathnote S2.

I thought so. S1 was best. S2 was a complete "what?...I guess okay"

S2 deathnote atleast made sense, but was done badly with no character development with the 2 new main characters.

The prequel book covers more about the orphanage and gives more insight to L's thought process. O and Mello as well since the book is written as if he were reading L's diary.
