That wasn't a fan translation, it is the official NoA translation. The game was fully translated before Nintendo decided not to release it in NA.

This is a good game. Probably the best RPG on the NES. However be forewarned. this game hasn't aged as well and has a high random encounter rate unless they changed it for the North American version.

It's just the Mother 1 English translation that has been available for years. Nothing to get too excited about but it's nice that's finally available to the masses.

I fully expect Mother 3 at E3 now. That one will be a little more interesting since we've never had an official translation.
