Looks like fun. I just hope it has more legs than Steel Diver: Sub Wars did for me. Didn't play that game for long. But It's Nintendo and they're not really into creating deep/serious multiplayer experiences on 3DS, so I'm not sure if this game will change my mind.

Doesn't that kinda look like Samus's ship? The color and shape is just uncanny.

I'm not seeing it. That blocky structure on the left?
Samus' ships have always had a rounded, ridged design.
That looks like a building.

That's not even close, in color *or* shape.

Looks fun. I mean, it's too early to tell anything yet, other than it seems fun and that the art design seems a bit generic. We still need to way, way more than 3 minutes on one arena. I bet NST is doing this.

Honestly, this being Retro's game would make me less salty than DK.

If I remember right there was a tweet that retro had a nice new engine on WiiU. So I think it's safe to assume they have a WiiU game in the works atleast if they were working on this(which I doubt).

I was honestly expecting more new games in the NWC. Having this be the only completely new title is somewhat interesting.

I'm wondering if they could have handled the reveal better, and when they're going to give more details.
Steel Diver: Sub Wars, which is still my reference point for this game, had a fairly interesting competitive multiplayer on about the same scale. Then again, I haven't touched it since they started tying the free-to-play model to 3DS Play Coins.

They removed the limit or reduced it to a single coin per play

I don't remember which, but a single coin is a pittance anyway. Community is probably dead though.

i'm fairly certain I played this game on my Commodore 64, and it was called Ballblazer. LucasArts.

It was an Arena FPS, and it was well developed for what it was. Great soundtrack too.

It was.. not the most balanced arena FPS. And a lot of map clipping exploits shown up (as well as people finding out that Noxus' frost hitbox extends fully vertically). Still impressive for a DS game but fell apart pretty quickly.

Looks great, I like it. But I think this should be a console game instead, as the FPS audience is heavily present there. Portables aren't the best option for this genre, which is mostly non-existant. Anyway, I hope this works, as it's a wise direction from Nintendo to diversify their audience.

Yeah so... there's no way this isn't just a minigame in Metroid Prime Hunters 3D that they're pretending is its own game until Tuesday. Obvious HUD aesthetics aside, it's just way too shallow of a gameplay concept to carry a full title.

The ball had a Metroid morphball trail at the end for Christ's sake.

I doubt this is a minigame.

I think they just took some stuff from Hunters to make a nice little $5-10 eshop game

This game seems it could be fun for a low price, but considering those 3DS controls... I don't know how long I'd be able to play it.

I agree with the Metroid connections being strong.

The thing is that pilot is clearly a big headed small thing like a Mii. No way that can exist in the Metroid art style.

I think this was once part of a Metroid project and then branched off.

Interesting seeing the Metroid Prime Hunters gameplay being brought back on 3DS; seems like a natural fit bring back that games multiplayer mode in a new way, so Blastball looks very interesting in that way :D.

I wonder if this is going to be like Prime Hunters and have a single player campaign to play through or its just going to be the multiplayer mode. I think the latter might be a better idea, as Hunters had a very weak single player mode (though it was being compared to the Prime games...so of course it would be weaker).

I hope this game is a success, as it does look promising :).

Wasn't a fan of Prime Hunters, and this looks effectively like a mini-game played within that, so I'm not overly interested.
