Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

Zoso

It's been a long time, been a long time, been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely time.
So excited for tonight's event. They'll likely reveal some major new features. I'm guessing one of them will be driveable vehicles. And an open world with no loading.

Here's hoping it's a lengthy segment with a lot of gameplay.

I'm expecting something akin to the three-part Skyrim demo they had during E3 2011. Especially if it releases this year.

What I want most out of Bethesda's games this gen are no load times anywhere, at least not for buildings, and more than 2 NPCs in battles, towns etc.

The scripted battles in Oblivion and Skyrim were just sad. They built some of them up as if it was part of a big war and it turns out it's basically 3 vs 3.

Oh god please no driving. I can see them adopting the physics from Rage for vehicles which were terrible. If it's a truly massive world sure a Mad Max style car would be cool, but I think it should be tough as nails to find all the parts needed to get it up and running. Something not feasible to really get till late in the game once you've likely discovered most things on foot.

These would be great improvements. Personally at the conference all I want is a release date and I'm set. I don't even need to see more gameplay or anything I just want to buy it as soon as possible.

Well, yeah, I'll be there day 1, but I really hope that some of the major technical limitations are gone now that they don't have to work with <512MB RAM.

Yeah, actually, I am not totally against a car in Fallout, but I'd like it to be something that is hard to get and something that you'll probably end up getting later in the game. Cars make the map seem so much smaller (take GTA V, huge map, doesn't feel that big with cars). I think later in the game is fine cause by that point you've probably explored most the map and now if you need to get somewhere having a faster transport method (That still lets you experience the travel as I hate fast travel) option might be nice.

Getting it in 2 early wasn't bad cause you really don't explore areas between cities in the type game 2 was. But in a game like what Bethesda makes, I like exploring the places in between the major areas.

I'll wait for GMG, any site with the word key in their name usually end up getting their keys off a market of stolen keys.

Yeah I have never purchased from there but I assumed since IGN is promoting it, it is legit. If you "like" them on Facebook you get 5% off making it about an even $40.

So close now, Jesus, 8 hours.

They've done the same style of demo now for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim. So I think it's safe to assume we'll see something similar tonight. I just hope we see the full 20 minute demo and not some tease where they only show the full demo to press at E3.

Agreed on all points. I think vehicles would be a good addition as long as they're sufficiently difficult to obtain and maintain. And they're also fun to drive and not buggy like Skyrim's horses. It would encourage more people to explore the world in between locations instead of fast traveling everywhere.

I'd only be up for a vehicle of some sorts if it was a mount, like a Golden Gecko we can ride or a Giant Ant. More of a goof than anything serious.

Actual vehicles just pose too many issues. Bethesda doesn't really craft open worlds made for anything but on foot travel. Oblivion and Skyrim were abysmal on horse and I doubt they could implement anything like TW3 or even RDR with some kind of mount or bike.

Even then Cars and Bikes would just be too convenient even if procured with great effort and late in the game. Plus it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense in a world that's been blown apart and doesn't exactly have serviceable roads. Plus companions make things way harder for stuff like that unless the vehicle is large enough for every, or if they pull a Dragon Age Inquisition and just have everyone with you disappear.

A really trimmed down simple Vertibird might work super late in the game. Maybe.

Why a car when i motorcycle is basically a motorized horse when you think about it. Would be way easier to do and get around with inbox the wasteland.

Are we doing a dedicated thread for the conference? Won't be able to watch it so I'll be refreshing this place for updates and playing New Vegas.

I actually don't mind load screens for entering buildings in the Fallout series. That's because buildings and vaults in Fallout are actually 2-3 hour dungeons that have tons of content to explore and loot. Meanwhile, in Witcher 3 a building is literally a 10'x10' room where you can loot a sack and a chest.

In other words, entering a building in the game world in Witcher 3 is not that impressive.

I also game on an SSD so load times don't effect me anyways.

Shameless copy paste from other thread.

So what does everyone want to see shown in the F4 demo?

Things I'd like to see

Gunplay
3rd person view
Better looking animations/enemy specific
Blow people up(lol)
Faster resting(it was soo bad on consoles)
Perks(new/returning)
Better character models/creation. Please people looked so ugly in that game.
LE along with a release date

Bonus stuff

F3/NV collection for PS4/X1, yeah, I said. :3

They said it was the most ambitious and detailed gameworld they have ever made, but have they mentioned how many square miles the world is yet? Since Bethesdas gameworlds usually have a squareish map, and a similar character movement speed and character to world scale, the square miles number is usually a good representation of the size.

Todd Howard said they're hoping to bring mods to PS4.

Creation Kit early 2016, then XB1 mods then sometime after that Ps4.
