I'm so happy about this news, if only because it means that Nomura probably won't be forced to leave the company due to the FFXV fiasco (assuming this wasn't the reason he's no longer the director for it)

Game of the show and it's only video footage.

I loved Crisis Core, I hope they incorporate Genesis and a few other things from it.

Sony could have ended the conference right there. Glad they didn't because that new Uncharted looked insanely good.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I'm pretty sure Square will have a KH block tomorrow showing off KH mobile game, KH HD collection, and KH3.

You sure? I'd be surprised, but I welcome more of it.

We've seen plenty of FFXV, too much even of the same area, but barely a thing about KH3 :(

They already said we'll get more "this Winter", so I'd guess we'll see more at TGS.
This winter probably means PSX.

You gotta give it to Verendus, guys. Never doubt him again. And how he trolled us. Oh man. Legendary.

They couldn't even get FFXHD ready in time for its 10th anniversary. 2017 is totally not happening.

FFX wasn't their literal most beloved title ever. I really, really think there's going to be "ass-in-gear" from Square on this on a scale we haven't seen from them in a long time. I know people have gotten used to them being really, really slow over the previous console generation, but there's a number of indications that they're shaking the rust off.

I would bet good money we don't see anything else from this until AT LEAST next E3 or later.

Better get ready for the long haul folks.

I honestly think we'll see a bit more of it tomorrow at the conference, at least some art and whatnot. Gameplay will probably be at TGS or at another Japan-based event in winter proper (the NicoNico event?)

If nothing else, they know how hotly anticipated this one will be. They'll keep the iron nice and hot during development.

GAF, I have a confession, I have never beaten FFVII  ;_; I have made it to the final stage before Sephiroth countless times, but can't grind levels and face him. I will now replay rhe PS1 version, so at least I'm hyped for the remake in 2-3 years time. Also, come on SE, need FFXII Vita, now

Major props to everyone who knew about it but didn't kept quiet/kept pretending to be ignorant.

Shame Siliconera had to go and blow their load the day before.

I saw the Final Fantasy World unveil and thought, oh man here we go. I bet it made a lot of people's hearts sink.

I got mega chills and the biggest smile once I saw the street sign that said sector #.

I hope that this will be the catalyst that lights a GIANT FIRE under Japan's ass. This better jump start the JRPG engine.

Bring on Xenogears (full on) remake.
Especially if XCX story fails to deliver.

As expected, Siliconera was right. And that junior was right about TLG, too.

Happy news, go Team Nomura. Though he said he never wanted to direct another FF :p

Could be that too. Maybe both!?

What I'm most interested in is just how in-depth this remake is. They say "full remake", but I can't see them changing the perspective and going the FFXV route. I mean, it's possible, but if they're planning on releasing this in 2017, I can't see them making it in time.

Anyone else think Square Enix will be looking closely at Final Fantasy XV's sales to determine if porting this to Xbox One will be worth their time?

Thinking about it, XV will likely launch in late 2016, and this at some point in 2017 on PS4. If it has a 6-12 month exclusivity window then we'd be nearly 2 years on from FFXV's launch, giving SE plenty of time to assess the games sales and see if porting it to XB1 would be profitable.

If anything, the only certainty here is that it'll come to PC at some point.

I am curious who's idea this was? Square Enix are taking a huge risk here. They are going to get hammered either way they make this game. Everyone is overjoyed at the moment, me included, but once that wears off and the info and possible changes and non changes starts to flow out I can see the criticism come out as well.

I wonder how much of this was Sony's pushing...

Square-enix must be in deep shit to pull out that.

They're actually at the best they've been in years. They're listening to fans. New Star Ocean, FFXV might actually come out, and FF7 which people have begged them to remake forever. The new CEO is clearly a step in the right direction for the company.
