His design in FFVII G-Bike is really good.

I hope he looks like this.

*ahem* I'm uh...ready for my date.

Advent Children shines through some areas, but with the tech they have today it's by far dated. You can see where they couldn't add anymore detail to the surroundings and a few other things. The remake should make AC look very bad. I want something far greater than AC because they're bringing this game to life outside of a film.

Maybe this remake is how future JRPGs should be? I could see them outdoing themselves. They already have a long history of what people enjoy about the game. All they need to do is craft the mechanics.

I just hope I can play as everyone in the game. I'm sick of this single person stuff. Sure it's fun at times, but I enjoyed switching attacks. I don't want to feel like I have no control towards the end of the game.

What makes me mad are all the jaded FF fans complaining. They say, "Final Fantasy is a classic video game series" and when they get one of them fully redone and remade by today's standards they are sick of it. The games in the FF7 universe aren't perfect. Just give me this main game and you can pitch all the side stuff. The main game of FF7 is a solid work and YES it needs to be redone.

I've known people who quit playing video games for the most part and they played FF7. That's not saying much, but still. You can bring back more memories of FF with this than a lot of what Square-Enix makes.

It's great if you can beat the game in 2015 in a few days. Big deal! This was JRPG history for a lot of people and it still has more memories than a lot of other stuff being made now a days.

Hoping there is some more fantasy/steam punk elements that the impression the trailer gives. Really not impressed with he way the soldiers look, come on give them a weird helmet or outrageous body armor.

Oh, and all trains should be locomotives ^_^
I'm guessing those guys are allies or "disposable" members of Avalanche. They look like they are hiding from the Shinra Helicopter search light, and look nothing like the Shinra MP.

People will complain that it is not exactly like the original.

They don't want a remake, they want better graphics.

I'm keeping an open mind. I wish for the game to retain what made FF VII, well, FF VII.

But I'm all for letting them update the game to gaming's modern sensibilities.

I hope the battle system doesn't remove any control we had over the entire party. But if they make the battle system faster paced and more action oriented, while leaving the entire party under the player's control, I'm all for it.

I hope the funny goofy stuff will make its way into the game.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see this beast grow over time.

Expect disappointment. I mean you're comparing a CGI film to a game coming out across current gen consoles. Gotta be realistic here.

I want it to be the same game with updated visuals and music. It doesn't need to be changed. Then again, the word "remake" may throw my idea out the window.

I'll be happy with any battle system that gives the player full control over all three characters.
I'm hoping for direct command control of one of them and the ability to issue general commands to the rest of your party (focus on that enemy! come help me! do what you like! go help that character!) plus lead character switching.

Also hoping for a bigger party size than three - four, five, or even six people would be great.

I don't want characters and enemies lined up across from each other but I also don't want them leaping willy-nilly all over the place for purely cinematic purposes.

Oh. I thought you were serious. Because honestly, if the combat is like 1997 FF7, it'll be a pleasant surprise at this point. :p

i honestly don't see the reason to shake up the combat system. FF7's combat system has aged fine in my opinion. It could use a few tweaks and modifications but it doesn't need to be replaced with something else.

Plus if you suddenly give the game an FF15 or KH3-ish system, aren't you inherently taking away some of selling points from one of those games and also taking away a selling point of 7?

I bet that's Biggs and Wedge.

I'm not concerned about the light-hearted elements being removed.
Even grim-dark Advent Children had some (i.e. mostly with Reno and Rude). Even though their entries have had some dark themes, Kitase/Nojima FF games are never lacking in the goofy/charming aspects.

Play the PSX FF7 if you don't want modern systems and presentation.
You don't always need a modern representation. The problem I have with people is they are so hard on in having everything assimilate into their taste or trend. Everything has to be a certain way... BECAUSE the trend is GOD! No, it doesn't. Step out of that box and embrace the variety. Sometimes I feel like I the only fuckin person in the world that can accept both an ARPG and turn-based RPG on consoles. Are folks like me really that rare? Are there no more open minds out there?

They would not have gotten to the film hadn't the game done something great. I believe we'll see a better looking Sephiroth and Jenova in this remake. They didn't cover every single place you visited in the film either. They have to do much more for this remake than that film.

You also have to consider that they're remaking all the monsters and enemies from the game. Dragon Quest? Even that was enjoyable. We aren't talking about a 3DS remake either. Sure we shouldn't get a head of ourselves, but its still something.

They took away a selling point from FF15 for me when they changed directors and redid the gameplay. This could be a chance to bring it back in a different game. It's not that I'm fully opposed to the possibility of it keeping a fully turn based system, just that I personally don't find it that engaging unless it still has a bunch of active input like the Mario RPGs or interesting elements like the SMT or Persona games. Saying I wouldn't bother with it was probably a bit much but it would definitely make it go from a must buy day one game to buying it when it drops about halfway in price.

are there any examples of remakes in the past few years where they've completely changed the gameplay mechanics/battle system?
