And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
her looks fine to me
no reason to change

it's aerith that's more problematic
how does one even run in that let alone kneel

What is this from?

Can't wait to play this, only played about 2 minutes of the original FF7 but played the prequels/spin offs. Glad I don't have to settle for those polygons.

#TeamTifa here too, I always found her to be more interesting than Aerith.

About her outfit, it's iconic but I wouldn't be mad if they change it a little bit, maybe shorts instead of the mini-skirt, but honestly I hope they keep the original outfits for every character.

So the other thread about World of FF says it's using ATB. I know that Nomura isn't working on that one but obviously Square hasn't totally abandoned the concept. Maybe a sign it could still be in FF7?

They need to add shit tons of Materia. One of my favorite things was equipping my Materia and changing stats, finding cool ways to link various moves, and coming up with the most broken set ups I could imagine. So much flexibility is what made it great.

Dude saying to tone Materia down is crazy. They need to crank it up to 11. More abilities, more ways to connect Materia skills, more spells, more effects, ect.

Exactly and it took a lot of time to get those broken combinations.

Was there anything in the way of story that got cut from VII that could get out in here?

I read that there was some Zack backstory that was cut but no idea if that's true.

Maybe?

Also, it has a train moving. Could be the train that avalanche is in?
Funnily enough that's what told me that it was a VII remake. I saw the slide and immediately thought of that slide in the park.

Yes, thats why every single person who loves FFVII freaked out the moment this specific scene came on, we all recognized it. I'm going to assume the girl is marlene.

Pretty much every shot in the trailer can be coordinated to a FF7 location we experienced, with the single exception of "south edge" on the map, I'm very curious what that is.

if you want a full breakdown read here: http://thelifestream.net/news/final.../visual-breakdown-of-ffvii-remake-e3-trailer/

Not only that. We see an explotion of sorts after she slides. Is that the explosion of the structure that supports the plate.

That's where Cloud, Barret and Tifa land after the explosion.

I hope they don't touch Tifa ' s outfit. I doubt they would, considering that we've seen her donning it in Dissidia, and it was in the flash back in Advent Children.

I'd prefer Tifa's AC design over her original but I'd take a new one that kind of mixes the two over both.

If anything, they should include an option right at the beginning of the game where you get to pick the outfit that the character gets for the rest of the run or implement a clothing option in the equipment menu.

I wonder how many assets they can pull from Advent Children, FF XIV and FF XV. Would be cool if that would allow them to speed up the development process.

There's humour, and then there's one of the most capable fighters in the group suddenly forgetting all her combat abilities so she can have a lame catfight in the middle of a life-or-death situation.

That scene is about deliberately mocking Scarlett. Tifa had been slapped multiple times up to that point and she was just sick of Scarlett ' s schtick. Of course she could have simply beaten her up, but it was intended to be more of "let's see how you like it" type of scene.

It doesn't do a single thing to damage Tifa as a character or question her ability to fight.

North/South Edge look to be the names of train stations at the edge of the plate. That's such a cool nod to the original game. If they're using little details like that it makes me really excited about the remake :)

Where the fuck are you #teamTifa guys 18 years ago when I was a raging teenager arguing on Gamefaqs about Tifa is a better character than that slum bitch Aeris?

The fact they included the slide/playground in the trailer makes me extremely optimistic. Its not a particularly important location in the grand scheme of things, but it's etched in people's memory because it's special.

Uh, Calm down with that kind of thing.

I think although they were always there, i noticed that the pro tifa community really exploded during compilation. Most of these titles had no Aerith as a direct 'RIVAL" in a love interest fashion, and Tifa was really made to be the 'end destination' so to speak, so there was no real character infighting as fuel for ship wars..

Not reaaly being serious :p just fun to see after all those years.

There's quite a bit of insight to their relationships in the novella which lifestream.net translated and released as audiobooks.

What sort of liberties did they take when remaking FFIV? Was it largely the same or is it not that comparable since there was never an English version to begin with?

Man, all this Tifa v Aeris/th stuff...

whynotboth.gif

Both of them are almost always in my party right through the game (well, at least until, you know...then Yuffie takes over).

I liked the love triangle aspect because I wasn't rooting for one girl over the other; I liked them equally as characters and as party members for the different qualities they brought to the table.

FFIV always had an English version (it was called FFII over here).

They mostly did the graphics in 3D, added difficulty, voice acting, and stuff like that.

But that remake is absolutely not in the same level as this. The scale of both projects are so different that I wouldn't consider the fact that they kept ATB for FFIV indicative of anything for FFVII.

FF4 did have an english version on the SNES. It depends on the version honestly.

Sorry I confused it with (Japanese) FFIII for the remake.

I haven't played any of the remakes just the originals besides FFIII, so was just curious what they did in comparison. I at least feel there could be some sort of philosophy in the way they go about doing remakes there.

Does the text on Aya/Valentina's poster have any meaning?

"OPEN JUNE IS JUNON _____"?

Can't read it clearly :(

I was watching the Gamersyde video, it looks like "OPEN JUNE 15 JUNON DRIVE".. maybe Junon's drive in theater

Edit: Tifa vs. Aerith is about to get real again lol

They did alter some events. Off the top of my head, they expanded on Cecil's parents and Golbez's youth with flashbacks, they changed the infamous scene where Golbez is reduced to a disembodied hand yet remains alive, they made it so that the guest characters rejoin your party at the end instead of just encouraging you.

Ooh thanks. I was only watching the YouTube version.

Someone in the "What is it about FFVII in particular that made people crave a remake so badly?" thread mentioned that 7 was the last cool Final Fantasy setting that wasn't completely ridiculous. Thinking about it a little more I actually think I am kind of prone to agree. FFVI and FFVII's worlds are over the top but somehow manages to retain a grit and believably to it (as well as other games before it), but one issue I had with 8 onwards was that the worlds just didn't feel believable to me.
